My Sister's Best Friend's Brother (Jensen AU)

🎶: 'How Would You Feel' by Ed Sheeran

You placed the stack of dinner plates on the dining table while your sister placed the tray that held roast chicken in the middle. You salivate at the aroma of food when your mother uncovered the foil on top. Your family has a tradition of having roast chicken on the weekends.

The family of four members sat down and started to serve themselves dinner. You poured apple juice for you and your sister while your parents had water.

"Mom the roast is great!" You commented and your mother smiled. "I thought I should try a new recipe," She grinned, placing a piece in her mouth.

"Oh by the way, Mackenzie's mom confirmed for tomorrow," You mother told your elder-by-four-years sister. You looked at her with confusion.

"Confirmed about what?" You asked, taking a sip of juice, and your mother furrowed her eyebrows. "Tomorrow's dinner with their family? Why are you asking?" You mother questioned.

You almost spat out your juice, You had no idea about this plan. "W-What?! I didn't know!" You exclaimed. Why doesn't anyone tell you anything?!

"When did this happen? How and why don't I know?!" You continued to feel your heart THUMP! in your chest with anxiety. "[y/s/n] was supposed to tell you. It's alright dear, it's just Mackenzie and her family. Their neighbours," Your mother shrugged and you frowned.

But it's not 'just Mackenzie and her family'...

Your sister's best friend has a brother, Jensen, and you've got a tiny... no, correction: big-ass crush on him. Everytime you meet him or he's present, you end up embarassing yourself and it sucks. It's pretty much how you see it in the movies.

"It matters to [y/n] because she's got a crush on Jensen," Your sister teased and you glared at her. She doesn't know about how you feel but it doesn't stop her from bothering you.

"I don't! Shut up!" You shouted, pushing her shoulder. You both start to quarrel till your father raised his voice and everyone resumes dinner in complete silence.

The next day, 3 PM...

You paced around your room, nervous and frightened by the fact that you'll be having guests at your house in four hours. You started to bite your nails, anxiety settling into the deepest fibers within you.

You had already occupied the past three hours in selecting your clothes and cleaning your room and some other areas in the house. There was nothing for you to do... at least, nothing that you would like to do with the way you feel right now.

After dinner yesterday, you locked yourself up in your room refusing to come out because of feeling so angry at your family for not letting you know about the plan.

"They're just neighbours, we know them well and they know us well," Your dad argued, trying to enter your room by jiggling the door knob, "Stop stressing [y/n]."

You even heard your sister whisper something about Jensen. Oh how life was miserable for you.

"It will be fine, I'll just act normal and don't speak much," You said, trying to motivate yourself and feel optimistic, "I'm human, he's human... humans make mistakes and sometimes embarrass themselves."

You shuddered at the thought of what happened when you and your sister went for lunch to Mackenzie's house.

You were walking back from the kitchen with a glass of orange juice in your hand and your tripped. You were okay but the same can't be said for Jensen's shirt. You didn't even dare to look at him for the rest of the day spent.

"Honey? [y/n], would you come down and help me?" You heard your mother call out from the kitchen. You walked out of your room and made your way downstairs, hopefully leaving all the fear and discomfort behind.

*****

2 hours later...

"Alright go up and change, they'll be here in an hour," Your mother said as you wiped your forehead. You were helping her in the kitchen with all the dishes for dinner: mash potatoes and gravy, baked salmon, beef lasagne, steamed mixed vegetables and homemade lemonade.

You looked at her in disbelief and horror. One more hour?!

You rushed upstairs after washing your hands and ran into the shower, stripping your clothes off and washing yourself in the record time of four minutes. You dried your body and your hair, then blowdried it till it looked perfect and made. You left it open then put on your clothes.

They weren't that fancy since you were staying in your own house. You put on your earrings, then put on some simple and almost undetectable makeup.

You went downstairs in the next thirty-five minutes, your heart beating fast in your chest, which started to ache. Your mother smiled at you, "You look very pretty [y/n]. I'm sure Jensen would love to see you." She winked at you and you groaned.

"Mom please, not even you," You huffed and she slapped your arm playfully. "Can you light up some candles and spray some air freshener in the living room?" Your mother asked and you nodded.

You did as you were told then noticed your sister come downstairs. "Oh [y/n] Jensen would-"

"Can it [y/s/n]," You glared at her while pointing and she shrugged. You collapsed onto one of the sofas and breathed out, the fact that you had to wait now was just... frustrating.

DING! DONG!

You shot up straight and looked to the door, heart racing. "Why don't you go open the door [y/n]?" Your sister smirked and you took a deep breath, clenching your fists.

You walked to the door and wrapped your hand around the handle, waiting for a moment then opening it up.

"Hi, welcome!" You greeted with a smile and were immediately hugged by Mackenzie. "Hi [y/n]! Where's your sister?" She asked as she entered, she's extremely energetic all the time and it made you smile.

You looked at Mr. and Mrs. Ackles, greeting them individually and welcoming them inside. Your parents greeted them and you turned back to the door.

"H-Hi [y/n]," Jensen said shyly, running a hand through his hair. You gripped the door tightly and smiled back, nervous. "Hey J-Jensen, come in," You moved away and he smiled, walking in then scanning you from bottom to top.

"Y-You look nice today," He said, "I mean, you always look nice but you look especially nice right now... I guess uh." You smiled softly, able to see that he was mentally slapping himself for blabbing all that.

"Thank you, you look nice too," You complimented his black hoodie, denim jeans and black Converse. He smiled awkwardly and you walked ahead to find your sister grinning at you. You would have shot the middle finger at her if no one else was around.

*****

You all sat at the table after you and Jensen helped your mother set it up. Hanging out with him was going okay till now. You have no choice but to be with him, which you don't mind though. He's around the same age as you. Mackenzie and your sister are the same age, while Jensen is two years younger than his sister. Both of you two's siblings are inseparable.

Everyone started to serve themselves, complimenting your mother's cooking. You were sitting next to your sister, opposite Jensen. He kept glancing at you from time to time, which made you curious and concerned at the same time.

Things got a bit... awkward soon. Questions were directed towards you and you started to fumble and stutter, making yourself look like a weirdo. It was killing you inside and you had to excuse yourself and walk away from the dining area.

Jensen followed you, being the caring and kind guy he is, to find you up in your room. He had taken a glass of water from the kitchen on the way then knocked on your door.

"[y/n]? It's me Jensen," He said softly, "Everything alright?" Worry laced his words and you looked up from hugging your knees tightly and burying your face into them.

You didn't reply, just watching the shadow of him beneath the crack in your door. "Can I come in?" He asked sweetly and you called out a weak "Yeah."

CREAK!

He opened the door slowly and peeked in, then walked towards you, who was sitting on the bed. He sat next to you and looked at you sympathetically.

"What's wrong?" He asked and you hesitated at first then answered. "I get a little flustered when I get a lot of attention. I'm not used to it, that's all," You explained and he nodded.

"I feel like that too, sometimes," He rubbed his neck and you raised your eyebrows with disbelief. "Seriously?" You rolled your eyes but he looked sincere.

"Yes, I'm horrible with people, especially grown ups. Some have this... judging face when they ask you questions and it's creepy," He chuckled, "You fear to say anything wrong."

You smiled slightly but it went away as soon as it came. "But I usually get all flustered when I'm around you," He said and you looked up into his breathtaking emerald eyes, that were shockingly illuminated in the dimly lit bedroom.

"What..." You mumbled and he nodded, looking to his hands. "I fear that if I say something weird to you or act like some psycho infront of you, you'd stop being my friend," He fidgeted with his fingers and you put your knees down, moving closer to him.

"Well it's shocking because I feel the same way around you," You revealed and he looked at you with surprise but happiness. "I was nervous about you visiting today. I didn't even know about it till last night," You scoffed and ran a hand through your hair. You had no idea where this openness to talk to Jensen had come from.

He smiled. His smile was one of the sweetest things you had the privilege to witness. You couldn't stop the smile on your own face.

"I like it when I come over to your house or you come over to mine, I have something to look forward to," Jensen told and your cheeks turned a slight red. You looked deeper into his eyes till a force dragged you closer to him.

It was as if magnets were put in action, and soon enough your were kissing him. It was soft, you've never kissed anyone before so you have no idea how it works. You could feel that Jensen felt the same way. You were confused as to what to do with your hands so you rested one of the side of his face and the other helped support you on the bed.

He moved closer to you, you continued to push him back. You pulled away, gasping for air, with a look of horror hopefully not plastered permanently on your face.

"I-I-"

"I've never kissed anyone before," He said softly and you nodded. "M-Me too," You gulped, taking your and away from him.

He smiled, looking down then looking back into your eyes, "Well who better to share my first kiss with than with you?"
