"Do You Smell Smoke?!" (Jared)

"And then the cookies go into the oven!" You told your 6-year-old daughter, who clapped excitedly. She continued to stare at them through the glass in the oven, impatiently waiting for them to be done.

"We just need to wait a bit and once they're done, I'll take them out," You took off the kitchen mitten from your hand and placed it on the counter, "Then we need to wait a bit more so that they cool down and our tongues don't burn."

She sighed, and you kissed her head. "Lets play something, what's [y/s/n] doing?" You asked and your daughter was about to answer, but you heard two small feet run into the kitchen.

"Mommy, look what I made!" Your son said and opened up his hands, "I made cookies out of PlayDoh!" You took one and pretended to eat it, your kids laughed.

"Very nice sweetheart!" You placed your hand on your hip, "I see that you both can't wait for the cookies to finish!" They licked their lips then ran into the living room.

Sniff! Sniff!

"Do you smell that? There's a weird smell," You questioned, eyebrows furrowed with confusion and concern. "All I smell is yummy cookies!" Your daughter said and rubbed her hands together.

You went closer to the oven. "It smells like gas..." You said to yourself and stared at oven for a while. You shrugged it off then walked out of the kitchen and into the living room.

"Let's go play some board game upstairs huh?" You said and the kids nodded.

"Alright it's my turn now," You took the dice and shook it in your hands, then threw it. You got a 5 and you moved those spaces on the board.

"Mommy, can I go down and have a glass of water?" Your four year old asked and you nodded with a smile. He got up and ran downstairs, only to be met with-

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Your son looked into the kitchen, frightened completely. Upon hearing the beeping noise, you told your daughter to stay in her room and you rushed down the stairs.

The kitchen was lit up by a nasty fire. It's flames dances around, the source being the oven. You shielded your eyes slightly, the heat making you feel uncomfortable.

You picked up your son and ran upstairs to where your daughter sat. "What's going on-"

"There's a fire in the kitchen [y/d/n], no need to panic," You explained, stressed out, "Take your brother outside okay? Run as fast as you can, I'm going to call for help."

Your daughter nodded and took her brother by the hand. She climbed down the stairs in a hurry then ran out the front door and to the edge of the lawn. Your daughter watched as the walls of your kitchen started to char.

You grabbed your phone and dialed '911'.

"911, what's your emergency?" A woman said on the phone and you took a breath to calm yourself.

"My house is on fire, I need immediate assistance. I've got two kids who are outside and I..." You started to panic. "Okay tell me your address ma'am," The woman said and you told her your house location. She said that help would be on the way and you cut the phone.

You grabbed a folder from your drawer which had everything you needed: passports, IDs, money and more, in case something like this happened. You can't take everything you own with you.

You ran down the stairs, the fire growing in size by the second. You got out of the house and met your son and daughter, giving them both a hug.

"Are you both okay?" You asked and they nodded, "Help is coming." You stood there slightly away, while watching your house being eaten up by flames.

Some to the neighbours came over to ask what happened. You yourself were completely lost, thinking maybe it was some sort of gas leak.

You dialed your husband's phone number, even though you didn't want to stress him out. He was in the next state, at a Supernatural convention. He's an actor on the show.

"Hey baby, what's up?" You heard him say. He could hear you breathing heavily, "What's wrong? Are you alright?"

"It's the house Jar, there's a fire and-"

"Oh my God, are you alright? Where are the kids?" He got up from his seat and ran a hand through his hair out of worry. "The kids are fine, we're fine," You answered, tears welling in your eyes, "The kitchen is completely gone Jared. The top is fine but the bottom... most of it is gone."

"Did you call the fire brigade?" He asked and you nodded, even though he couldn't see you. "Yeah I did, I think I can hear them coming," You looked to your side and saw lights beeping and the faint sound of the siren echoing.

"Alright, you stay safe. I'm coming home on the next flight," He said and you mumbled an 'okay'. He ended the call and you held your kids close.

The firemen went into the house, fully armed and geared up, ready to put out the fire. You watched as they went in and attacked the flames that threatened to injure them.

BANG! CRASH!

The windows in the kitchen shattered as the fire exploded, making it more deadly. You could see the windows in the living room start to crack slightly.

"Ma'am do you have anywhere your kids could stay?" One of the firemen asked and you looked at the house down the road where your husband's friend lives and nodded.

You took your kids to Jensen's house and knocked on the door. His wife, Danneel, opened up and looked at you with concern.

"Hi, could the kids stay here for a bit?" You said, your tone sad. "Yeah sure, what's-" Danneel stopped and looked to the sky to find black smoke everywhere. She followed the trail back to your house and frowned.

"I'm so sorry honey," She hugged you and you cried a bit. "Jared's on the way back now. They just need to put the fire out then it would be okay," You informed, "The whole downstairs is in ashes."

She held your arms and squeezed them slightly, "Any help you need from me, just let me know. The kids can stay here for as long as they want okay?" You smiled slightly and nodded.

Because he was in the next state, by the time evening approached Jared was home and you sobbed in his arms.

"Look at it, it's all ruined," You looked at your house and rubbed the tears on your cheeks. The fire was out completely but the stairs that were next to the kitchen were so damaged that there was no access to the upper floor. They were on the verge of crumbling.

Fire fighters broke the windows of the upper floor and started to salvage items like clothes so that you and your family could atleast move somewhere else temporarily.

Jared had met with his kids as soon as he came into town. They were having a great time with JJ, not aware of the stress their parents were in.

You had put all the clothes you could into suitcases from the house basement and walked over to Jensen's house. You rang the bell and Danneel welcomed you both in. The fire fighters had left a while ago. You had gone inside the house to look at the damage, only to leave with tears in your eyes.

"Are you sure you're okay with [y/s/n] sleeping with you?" Danneel asked and you nodded. Your daughter was going to sleep in JJ's room, on a sleeping bag.

You put the kids to bed then all the adults sat upon the dining table downstairs. Jensen had called, talking to both you and Jared about the tragedy. He was still at the convention (though it had ended before Jared left), leaving tomorrow to fly home.

You and Jared talked about what to do about the house while Danneel made some coffee. You both broke into a slightly loud argument on whether to repair the damages or move to another place.

"Look Jared, I think we should just call in some people to fix up the kitchen and paint the walls-"

"[y/n] we have a lodge down near the lake on the other side of town, we should stay there and then get another house," Jared reasoned, "We have the finance to get another house. It's better that way."

"But the whole upstairs is alright Jared! It'll be a waste to get a whole new place, it'll cost a lot more than repairing," You yelled slightly.

Danneel cleared her throat and set the coffee mugs on the table. "Let's just discuss tomorrow, the kids are sleeping and I don't want them to feel disturbed," You rubbed your face, completely exhausted.

Jared stretched his arms then got up, kissing your head and saying goodnight to you and Danneel. You watched him leave the room then looked at your friend and sighed.

"It'll be okay [y/n], it'll all work out," She said and placed her arm on yours, "Hey, you can stay here for as long as you want."

You smiled with an effort then dulled once again. "Thank you so much Danneel, it means a lot," You said and got up, "I think I'm going to sleep. It's been a tiring day."

She smiled and you walked upstairs. Jared was in the guest bedroom, your son was sleeping peacefully. Jared smiled as you walked up to him, a bit taken aback by you hugging him.

He rubbed your back slowly then pulled away, kissing you on the lips. "We'll get through this. Atleast we're all safe, we have each other," Jared said, holding you close to him. You looked to your son and smiled slightly.

"Yeah, together as a family."
