125) Proud Parent? (Castiel Pt. 1)

"Honey, are you ready?" You called out from the kitchen of your two-bedroom apartment. You dried your hands off with a towel then walked out into the living room. You coughed a bit, a glass of water helped to calm your itchy throat.

"Yeah mom! Is dad ready?" Your fourteen year old daughter asked as she tied her hair. You peeked down the hallway, not finding or hearing her dad anywhere.

"No he isn't! He's probably changing his clothes," You answered. You switched the kettle on, boiling water for a warm cup of tea.

"Okay mom, I'm done," Your daughter came towards you and our her hands out. You smiled and nodded, "Where's your dad?!" She shrugged.

You decided to seek him out, walking to your bedroom and finding him sitting on your bed with his legs crossed and eyes shut. It seemed as if he was meditating.

You raised your eyebrows, "Cas, what are you doing?" You placed a hand on the door frame and the other on your waist.

He took a deep breath and slowly breathed out. "I am... relaxing my muscles," He answered and you looked at him no expression.

"[y/d/n] is waiting for you. You'll be late for the parent-and-teacher meeting," You told and he sighed. He opened his eyes and slowly got up from the bed.

You crossed your arms and smirked as he walked towards you, "Why are you relaxing yourself?" He rubbed his neck, "I'm nervous? I don't exactly have good 'people skills'."

You kissed him on his cheek and wrapped your arms around his waist, "Honey, it'll be fine, don't worry. The teacher is just going to tell you how [y/d/n] is doing in class and all. Nothing too important. We just want to know what's happening from an official source."

He kissed your head and you started coughing. Cas looked at you with concern, "Are you sure you'll be fine at home alone? We will be gone for two hours or more."

You smiled and squeezed his arms, "I'll be fine. It's just a cold... and the occasional fever."

You walked towards the living room and Cas followed behind. Your daughter sat on the couch with her head on her hands, out of boredom.

"Finally!" She said and grabbed her father's hand, "Dad come on! We need to go!" He looked to you and you raised an eyebrow, "Wow, someone's surprisingly enthusiastic."

"Remember to relax baby," You told your husband softly and he nodded. "I just need to consult your teacher about the methods being used to provide education for my daughter. Simple and straightforward," He smiled and you nodded awkwardly. Same old Castiel.

"Yeah... You mean, ask the teacher if I'm failing my classes or not," Your daughter said and Cas nodded with his eyebrows furrowed. "Yes, that is exactly what I said right now," He said.

He started to walk out the main door, your daughter came up to you. "Are you sure that you can't come? Mom please," Your daughter asked and you slapped her arm playfully.

"What is that supposed to mean young lady? Your father is not what you're thinking right now," You told with an authoritative tone.

You daughter sighed, "But mom-"

"[y/d/n] you will not be embarrassed! Now go quickly," You said and followed her to the main door. They both waved goodbye and you smiled, closing and locking the door after they left.

Castiel fidgeted with his hands as he sat outside your daughter's classroom. [y/d/n] sat next to him, swinging her legs slowly under the chair.

"So... your teacher's name is?" Cas asked. "Mrs. Robinson," Your daughter answered and her father nodded.

The parent and student sitting inside walked out at that moment, indicating that Cas and your daughter were up next.

"Come on Dad," You daughter said softly and Castiel nodded, following her into the classroom.

"Ah, [y/d/n]! Hello!" Mrs. Robinson greeted then looked at Cas with confusion, "You must be her father. I'm Mrs. Robinson." She put out her hand and Cas shook it, a nervous smile on his face.

"H-Hi," He said and cleared his throat. Both of them sat down on the seats infront of the desk. "Where's your mother? She usually comes for the meetings," The teacher asked.

"My mom is sick, she has a fever," Your daughter informed and Mrs. Robinson nodded. "It is very nice to be meeting you for the first time this year," Cas said in a sort of rush, out of anxiousness. Your daughter looked at him with eyebrows raised.

"It is very nice to meet you too Mr. Novak, finally!" The teacher said with a smile then looked through her notebook.

"Okay, [y/d/n]..." The teacher looked up happily, "All I can say is that you have a lovely daughter Mr. Novak. She is an incredible student who takes part in class discussions, comes up with new ideas and always submits her work on time."

Cas smiled proudly and looked over to his daughter, who was smiling too. "She is one of my favourite students and I feel that she involves the whole class, making it more engaging," Mrs. Robinson told, "Though sometimes she can end up talking a bit too much."

Cas furrowed his eyebrows slightly and looked at his daughter, who looked guilty. She's a good student and dedicates herself to her studies, which makes Castiel and you very proud.

The meeting ended in the next few minutes, after the teacher gave your daughter some points to improve on in her subjects. Cas didn't speak much in the meeting but he was super glad it was over.

"Okay dad, let's go now. I don't like school very much," Your daughter said and her father looked at her with his head tilted.

"Why? You are doing exceptionally well in your classes and you passed this exam?" He pointed out and you daughter shook her head.

"Dad, it's school. No one likes it," She laughed a bit but Cas didn't quite understand, "Anyways, what do you mean I passed this exam?"

"This is a test for students attending school and the feedback is given verbally on how you have done," Castiel explained while the two of them walked ahead, "This is a more direct and efficient method where the teacher assesses your performance and announces it without any interference."

He was talking a bit loudly, enough that others close by could hear. Your daughter looked around at the sudden whispering of students who kept watching her and Cas walk by. Some even laughed, and she recognised it as the rude type.

"Dad it's just a meeting," She said with no emotion while trying not to grab any unwanted attention. Castiel didn't notice her slight distress and continued to argue with her words.

"Look at here, I feel so sad for her."

"Is that her dad? I imagined him to be different."

"Her mom's okay but I don't know about her dad. He's... odd."

Your daughter tool a deep breath, suddenly coming to a halt.

"...Because of the lack of only student input, I can see why you feel this is not- What's wrong [y/d/n]," Castiel asked, stepping closer to her.

"Nothing I-"

A voice captured her attention.

"That is so embarrassing! Her dad is so lame, I feel sorry for her. Maybe that's why she's a bit... knocked in the head."

There was a chorus of laughter and it made your daughter's blood boil.

"HEY!" She stormed up to the guy who said the words and pushed him towards the lockers behind him. [y/d/n] put an arm across his chest and pinned him up.

"How dare you comment like that?! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT!" Your daughter yelled into his face, "Just because my dad cares about me and doesn't exactly have that great of a sense of humour doesn't make him lame, asshole!"

He looked genuinely afraid. The others who had joined in on the laughter started to back away.

You duaghte heard her father yell out but she ignored him, focusing all her attention on the guy infront.

"Do I see your dad here today? No, I don't! So quit bullying people because they are different and quit making fun of my dad because he cares about me!" Your daughter shouted, grabbing everyone's attention.

"Yeah, I love him. He's my dad," She said and pushed the guy harder into the lockers. She raised her hand to his face, "So help me if I hear you saying something bad about my dad... or anyone else, I'll make sure you'll be permanently in the hospital!"

She sharply turned around and scanned everyone else, "Any of you... don't you dare make fun of me or anyone in general."

She let go of the guy, who scrambled away in fear and regret. Your daughter straightened her clothes and walked back towards her father.

Castiel was utterly confused. He had no clue how his daughter concluded that people were making fun of them.

"What was that all about [y/d/n]?" Cas asked and your daughter sighed. "Jackson..." She pointed at the guy who she just yelled at, "He was saying that you're lame and that you're embarrassing because of the way you talk and what you say."

Castiel tilted his head with confusion. He transformed into sudden rage and stomped towards the boy.

"Jackson," He said authoritatively. The boy looked terrified, about to run away. Cas glared at him, his eyes shining because he was using his powers to get his point across much clearly.

"Don't dare to insult my daughter, got it?!" He said a little loudly and Jackson nodded. He seemed to be in shock, hypnotized by the powers and the fact that a man's eyes were glowing.

Little did he know that [y/d/n]'s father is an Angel.

Castiel smiled and nodded, walking back to his daughter and putting an arm around her shoulders.

"Dad what did you do?" She asked. "I just told him to not bother you. Don't worry, he'll never bother you again and no one he knows will either," Castiel explained and your daughter rolled her eyes and smiled.

"Dad, I can take care of myself," She stated and Cas kissed her head. "But as your father I am to make sure you are safe, even if you think you are," He said.

They both walked out of the school, the sun shining and the birds chirping was very cheerful.

"Lets have some icecream as a treat of you being a wonderful person and passing-I mean, getting great feedback from your teacher," Castiel said as he sat in the car.

Your daughter nodded happily, "And we can get some for mom... which she can have after she gets better."
