EXTREMELY late on this... i am so sorry! :/
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
You went through the entire evening plan in your head, over and over again. You wanted the party to be perfect, just like every year. And just like every year, you found yourself over thinking about it all.
And Jared noticed.
He raised a brow at your 'deep-in-thought' expression as he entered the kitchen with a two bags of groceries.
"You okay?" Your husband asked, and you turned to him in pure puzzlement.
You placed a smile upon your lips then resumed the task of sorting cutlery. "Y-Yeah! Why wouldn't I be?" You responded but he squinted his eyes, not buying into your, clearly, fake explanation.
"Well, for one reason we have our annual spooky-ween party and you have a track record of panicking in the most cutest of ways," Jared said with a grin.
You meant to smile at him, at the complimentary end, but you couldn't shake off the idea that he was teasing you.
You frowned then shoved him away lightly. "Go make yourself useful Jar," You said and he chuckled.
"I got a few more apples, and the baking soda," He informed, "And some other stuff."
You smiled at him then gave him a flying kiss. He flicked his hair with the back of his hand and made the funniest expression you've seen on him. You laughed.
You returned to your kitchen-tasks, removing the apples from the bag. You placed them in a strainer bowl and lightly washed them.
You brought the bowl to the counter then started to cut designs into its skin, before turning them into candied-apples.

You continued to stare at your reflection as you found a fault in your look every other minute. You had been standing in front of the mirror for fifteen minutes, making sure that your costume was alright.
You and Jared were dressed up as a pair, with matching costumes. You had picked the iconic duo from 'Mr. And Mrs. Smith'. You were wearing almost an exact replica of the black dress, with the slit on the side. You had a gun strapped to your upper thigh.
The costume as close to accurate, given that you scavenged your house storeroom for anything useful.
"Honey, where's-" Jared swung the ajar door wide open, stopping in his tracks. He scanned you from top to bottom, with an eyebrow raised.
"W-Wow," Jared mumbled and you chuckled. You walked towards him slowly and while doing so, spun in a circle to show off the dress. "You nailed the costume," He commented with a smirk, "The outfit, the hair... everything."
You reached to place a kiss on his cheek then walked out of the room and trotted towards the living room and kitchen. You still had some pre-party preparations to carry out so that the event would go perfect.

You're not much of a party person but when you're amidst a gathering you can't help but vibe.
You and Jared had an idea a few years ago, around the first time you threw a house party, where you would gather everyone's phones at the door and place them in the basket. The entire party would be a 'non-phone zone'. Your friends and guests found it weird at first; it was an experiment you and Jared wanted to test out. You just thought that it would be a good way to live in the moment and enjoy the party without distractions.
And it caught on pretty quick!
You lifted up a tray off the kitchen counter that had some cocktail sausages and mini chicken sandwiches placed on top. A few of the guests grabbed a helping each. You ended up heading back to the kitchen to restock the tray, now with some drinks.
"So how's work going?" You overheard one of Jared's friends ask him. Your husband glanced at you then resumed to respond to his friend.
"Hey [y/n]? Could I have a glass of water?" Janet, one of your close friends asked, as she bounced a 9 month old baby on the side of her hip.
You nodded your head and led her to the kitchen. You grabbed a glass from the cabinet then filled it with room temperature water.
"Here you go," You handed her the glass and she helped her infant daughter drink a few sips.
"Hey, Robbie's dealing some cards. You should join!" She invited and you smiled.
"I sure will, I just need to finish some things before dinner is served," You replied, "I'll join the next game."
She nodded her head then walked out of the kitchen after placing the glass in the sink.
You started to cut a handful of cherry tomatoes into halves. You smiled while you're mind was occupied by the sounds of the party: people cheering, kids laughing and-
SCRUNCH!
You paused.
You gulped, then looked down to the chopping board slowly. You already determined a conclusion from the disturbing sound that you had heard a moment ago... you dreaded the sight you would see scattered on top of the chopping board.
You saw blood everywhere, pouring out of your...
You screamed at the top of your lungs. You started to panic, knocking off a metal bowl placed on the counter next to the chopping board.
The party suddenly fell silent. Your mind was completely on your cut-off finger... the half of it laying on the board.
Gradually everyone rushed to the kitchen, many immediately gasping and grimacing at the sight. Parents pushed their kids away from the kitchen while you heard someone gag and subsequently throw up in the sink of the neighbouring guest bathroom.
Jared came storming in and covered his mouth. He mumbled something in audible. You watched him with tears streaming down your face as a woman brought a towel hanging on the oven handle that she soaked with cold water.
Jared hastened towards you then ran to the storage room to get the first aid kit. "Someone CALL AN AMBULANCE!" Jared yelled at the top of his lungs.
People started to scurry around the house, locating the telephones and dialling the appropriate numbers.
"What the heck?! The phone's dead!" Robbie shouted to inform while another person agreed with the fact for another phone, placed in the bedroom.
You felt faint. Your knees started to give in while your senses started to wind down. A woman brought a chair for you to sit on. Her figure was blurred out; you were completely disconnected from the world.
Everyone started to search their clothes, all trying to find their-
"Where'd you keep the phone Jared?" Phil, the next door neighbor asked and Jared glanced at you before turning back to the crowd.
"Um... w-why?" He chuckled nervously and crossed his arms. Phil and many others looked at him with confusion and disbelief.
"What do you think I want the phone for genius?!" Phil retaliated.
Jared shrugged his shoulders, "I mean the rules strictly say that 'only give the phones mid-party in case of an emergency-"
" MY CUT OFF FINGER ISN'T AN EMERGENCY JARED?!" You screamed at your husband, causing him to jerk in fright.
Jared was about to leave your side but you tugged his arm, yearning for him to stay with you.
"Uh, top shelf in the storage closet... down the hall, second door on the right," Jared instructed.
Phil, Robbie, and their wives hastened to the storage closet, while some other guests attended to your comfort. You were starting to lose your shit... and that's no exaggeration.
Robbie came back running, out of breath, "It's f!@#ing locked Jared!"
Jared raised his eyebrows then dug into his pant pocket to retrieve the keys to the closet. He tossed it to Robbie but either his throw was the worst or Robbie hasn't played ball in a while.
The keys fell to the ground and Robbie started yelling at Jared, who yelled back and fueled the commotion. He started talking about how no one's really helping and Robbie began mocking Jared's inability to seem distressed and have a sense of urgency about this situation.
Then continued arguing at the top of their capacities while a couple of other men who intervened to calm them down, ended up adding to the dispute.
The yelling match transitioned into something so petty; you were extremely close to breaking into a laughing fit.
The house broke into chaos. Children started crying and screaming at the sight of their parents about to resort to fighting one another. The grownups started to act like the children: the men all ganged up, siding with either Robbie or Jared, while the women attempted to bring their husbands back to their senses.
And all you did was sit in the centre of this chaotic doomsday kind of situation.
And you couldn't help but start giggling.
As your amusement became much more apparent, the chaos simmered down. All eyes where on you.
"Jared... I think your wife's lost it," Leanne, one of the first friends you made when you moved to town, commented.
You shook your head as you covered your mouth and laughed. "G-Gosh you g-g-guys are so damn f-funny!" You were close to rolling on the floor. Your stomach ached.
You wiped your teary eyes then took a deep breath and sighed. You scanned the room and observed the group of people watching you with horror.
You looked at your finger and removed the towel that was now dyed red, then licked all the blood off the finger.
People gagged and gasped at the sight. You exaggerated the action, making it extra-gory and hard to believe.
You stood up and dusted your clothes. No one made a sound... not even Jared.
You went over to the chopping board and picked up the chopped off finger. You looked it then threw it into your mouth.
The crowd did NOT favour that at all. They broke out into a chorus of objections.
"What the f-"
"ARGH NO [Y/N]!"
"WHAT THE HECK!"
"I'm going to f!@#ing puke, oh my God..."
THUMP!
Someone passed out, collapsing onto the floor. You widened your eyes in surprise, peering over the kitchen bar to make sure that person was okay. Someone was attending to it, and your attention shifted to Robbie and Phil.
"What the f!@# is going on [y/n]?!" Robbie questioned with genuine 'pissed-offness'.
"It's a fake finger," You smirked, "I got you guys good..."
Then gave each other looks and-
"BOO!" You exclaimed and laughed, "Happy Halloween everyone!" You high-fived Jared, who side-hugged you.
"You were in on this?!" Phil scoffed, "You son of a bitch. That was a sick joke..."
"You have to admit that it was a good prank guys," Jared commented, "[y/n] is a pretty good actor!"
"F!@# you guys," Robbie and Phil, and a bunch of others, mumbled under their breaths.
"We love you all too!" You cheered. As everyone started leaving you remembered that dinner hadn't been served yet.
"Everyone! Dinner will be on in fifteen minutes!" You announced and they groaned.
"I don't think we're hungry anymore," Leanne admitted and you frowned.
Maybe the prank wasn't such a good idea... You thought.
You shook your head and shrugged your shoulders.
Nah, it was great! Truly in the Halloween spirit, You thought and smiled as you looked to Jared.
