Sanatorium (Erin x Dean)

You grabbed a chalk and scraped a small diagonal line cutting through a group of four lines; a tally mark to indicate the longitude of time you've spent in this sad place of despair.

You wrapped your hand around the piece of white chalk then stepped away from the wall, glorying the group of around fifty tally marks with one for each day.

You sighed then stuffed the chalk in your pillow. You pushed the bed back to its starting place to hide your work of art then you straightened your clothes.

"Erin, dayroom time!" One of the guard informed flatly and you squinted at him with disgust. They act like they care but they don't and you're sure about it. The worst thing they do it's give all the patients here at the sanatorium the look of pity or anguish, as if they are some sort of extraterestrial beings.

You looked around the dayroom with hope, wanting to find the only friend you had managed to make in this place.

"Erin!" A man calls out to her after getting up at a table and smiles widely, "I set up a game of Taboo!"

You grinned then walked over to him, hugging him tightly and taking your seat opposite him. "You seem happy today Dean," You commented and he laughed.

"Aren't I always?" He batted his eyebrows and you smiled. Dean Winchester was admitted into the sanatorium after his brother had accepted a job being an Angel's vessel. It had torn Dean to shreds, his brother was the only family he had and he was gone too.

You've known him for almost a full year, you've got very close to him and him to you. You admire his personality, you love being in his presence. You still can't figure out what is wrong with him, he seems completely normal to you... but then again, you are pretty normal too.

"Your turn!" He licked his lips and stares at the boardgame with fascination. You played your turn then watched him do his.

"So... when are we going to have another escape to the cellar?" He asked and you widened your eyes.

"Wh-What?"

"Don't pretend like you didn't love it Erin. I heard you, you were dying inside," He chuckled and winked at you, making you rubs your sweaty hands.

Yes, you and Dean did sneak out after bedtime and make love in the cellar-storage-area at two in the morning. You kept as quiet as you could though it was hard.

"I-I... We can..." You bent closer to him and whispered, "Tonight, after we escape." Dean raised an eyebrow at you with pure confusion.

"What? Is that even possible?"

"YES it is, I've thought about escaping ever since I was dumped here Dean. Come on, join me!" You said with excitement and he rubbed his neck.

"I don't know... It's risky and I like this place. We get food and facilities, I had nothing like this on my own!" He reasons, suddenly feeling less confident, "You go, I'll stay-"

"Seriously?! I thought you were a Hunter, a man of adventure and a man who wouldn't let someone else put him down," You frowned, "Come on Dean, we have to try getting out! I'm not as crazy as they think I am and neither are you."

Dean sat in silence, staring at the table for a good two minutes while you tried to regain his attention but nothing helped.

He sighed all of a sudden, "Alright fine. What's the plan?"

*****

You laid on top of your bed tapping the metal frame with your fingernails to channel your impatience.

You glanced to the clock in the hallway, indicating how much longer you'd need to wait in your room before you roam free-

CLICK!

Dean peered into the room then gestured for you to follow him. He had found the master key, He had found it the first time when you went to the cellar. He never told you how he'd achieve it though.

"You have to be extra quiet Erin," He mumbled then you got up and followed him out of the room, "Stay close to me."

You both walked down a hallway then turned right then left. You eventually started to lead him around since you have stayed here for longer than him.

"Look we will have to-"

Dean shoved you into a closet after opening door, alarming you. "What's wrong-"

"Shh there are guards outside," He said, his body pressed against yours, "This place is guarded heavily at night."

You gulped then stroked his chest softly, "What do we do now Dean?" Dean looked over your shoulder then squeezed beside you, smiling smugly.

"We wear these and disguise ourselves," He told and held out hangers that had guard uniforms on them. You were confused as to why they'd have uniforms lying around for anyone to grab but... there are a lot of things about this mental place that you don't understand.

"Uh... You might wanna... turn around," You smiled nervously and he rolled his eyes. You took one of the uniforms from him and changed while he changed into the other one. You spotted some dirty shoes at the back and dusted them, making you cough-

"Hey is the show on tonight?" A male guard outside asked a friend as he passed by the closet, making you and Dean stand up straight suddenly and remain as quiet as you could be.

"Dean, what are we going to do?!" You whispered furiously, "They're right outside."

"We need to do it on our own, split up then we'll meet outside," Dean instructs then opens the door and walks out before you could object his idea.

You stood in the dark cold closet, your hands shaking with terror. You waited for a couple of minutes, listening to Dean's muffled box is in the distance. He seemed very confident, taking the role of a night guard seriously.

You wrapped your hand around the door knob then turned it, opening it slowly and stepping outside. You cleared your throat then sucked in a sharp breath, charging yourself up with confidence.

*****

You escaped the guards, they were nowhere in sight but you were in the middle of a dimly lit hallway which felt like farther away from the exit than before.

You stepped ahead gradually, peering into the door windows of rooms and finding patients sleeping or being paranoid.

"D-Dean... Somebody, help-"

THUMP!

A man grabbed you by the arms and pulled you back suddenly to his chest. "What are you doing? Exit is that way," Dean said while breathing heavily. You sighed with relief then held his hand.

"Sorry I... got lost," You mumbled then he pulled you towards the way you came.

"We don't have that much time, let's hurry!" He smiled widely with excitement then you jogged beside him.

You found the exit sign after a few hallway turns, you wondered how you missed out on seeing it before. "WAIT someone's coming!" You whispered and Dean stopped.

You stood up straight against the corridor wall, frozen on silence and hoping a nightguard wouldn't find the two of you. Once the voices died down you both continued your walk towards the exit.

Once you saw the door, you ran towards it and-

"Where are the keys? DEAN THE-"

"What's going on?! HELLO!" A nightguard ran towards you from the other end of the corridor and you started to panic.

"Dean the keys, we have to abort the mission!"

"CHILLOUT, HERE!" Dean rushed to the door and took our a ring of keys from his pocket. He fumbled to get the right key in the lock, your anxiety free by every moment.

"COME ON!"

"Hey GET BACK HERE!"

"GOT IT!"

CLICK!

The wind blew in your face with force, pushing the door wide open. You glanced at Dean then behind you, and ran out on cue of the security guard shouting at you with two others joining him.

You ran back to the door to lock it from the outside but Dean grabbed your arm and shook his head. "Leave it Erin, COME ON!" He yelled and tugged you forward.

You laughed and collapsed onto the ground when you reached a dense forest. "What's wrong with you?" Dean questioned, frantically looking around for any guards, "We're still not far from the sana-."

"We're free from captivity! DEAN I'M SO HAPPY!" You pulled him to the ground then gave him a passionate kiss on the lips, making him forget his anxiety.

"HEY I think they're somewhere here!"

You pulled away then got up after a struggle and started rubbing deeper into the forest, with one of your best friends by your side.

Sure you're a little crazy but... isn't everyone? At least you and Dean have each other and you won't let anyone tell you that you're different.
