"Got Your Harp And Halo?" (Castiel)
Your daughter went through her stuff, she was packing her clothes and belongings this past week to prepare for university.
You helped her sort her things out, giving her some things you owned that could help her. You brought over a dusty box that had been sitting at the top shelf of your wardrobe for years, collecting dust.
"What's in this?" She asked, and you were about to answer but her father walked into the room.
"Hi sweethearts," Castiel greeted, kissing your daughter's head first then pecking you on the lips. "How was work dad?" [y/d/n] asked and Castiel smiled.
"The same as always," He answered then looked around the room at things scattered around. He smiled when he saw the box you were looking through.
"I thought I would never see this again," He looked at you happily then scavenged through the box.
He found a cassette tape, "Dean gave this to me years ago, we should play it again some time." You took out different items, souvenirs from inside from your life as a Hunter. Sam and Dean continue to do that but ever since your daughter was born, you and Cas got a place and tried to avoid the supernatural.
He found a picture album and opened it up. There were pictures of Sam and Dean on humtds or just hanging out in the Bunker. There were pictures of you and Cas and when you went on your honeymoon and from times when your baby was born.
Your daughter looked over her dad's shoulder, scanning all the pictures with excitement.
"Oh wow, is that you and mom?" She questioned and Castiel nodded. "Yes that's after we saved the world for the umpteenth time and just relaxed in the Bunker with your uncle's," Castiel explained, "I think it was after we brought all those Hunters from the alternate reality through the portal."
You nodded. Your daughter knew all about your past life and all about supernatural creatures. She hasn't gone on hunts but she's stayed with Sam and Dean for a while helping them with research and training herself.
"Oh, and this is around the time I met your father!" You told, "We went to a diner and had dinner to celebrate another successful hunt."
Your daughter took the picture and smiled. "You both look so young and beautiful," She expressed and you smiled at her then Cas.
The joy on your daughter's face slowly transformed to confusion, as she continued to glance at her father then Castiel then back again.
He eyes her father with furrowed eyebrows, stepping away a little bit. "Honey what's wrong?" You asked with concern.
"Um... I don't know if dad's discovered the fountain of youth or something but he looks exactly the same," She explained, "I mean it's good but how is that even possible?! You haven't aged at all."
She put the photo up next to Castiel's face and raised an eyebrow. "No difference, and it's been what? Twenty years, and you haven't aged at all!" She said in a rush of surprise.
You looked at your husband sadly then sighed. "Honey we have something to tell you, something we should have a while ago but I think now is the best time," You told her and she continued to watch you with confusion.
"Dad did find the fountain of youth?!"she questioned and Castiel chuckled. "No sweetheart, I didn't find a fountain though I have a secret identity," He explained and [y/d/n] tilted her head to the side.
"Honey... You're father isn't as normal as you'd think he is. He's..." You took a deep breath, "He's an angel."
She froze, unable to fathom if you were joking or not. Once she saw both her parents looking at her with no smiles, she accepted the facts.
"W-What..."
"We had told you about Angels but we never really talked about them much. We didn't want you to feel odd or different as a child. We wanted you to have a normal life [y/d/n]," You explained.
She didn't question anything, she was so curious to know everything. Your daughter sat on her bed and you and Castiel sat beside her, one on either side.
"So does that mean... I'm an Angel?" She asked, "Because if dad is then I must be." You glanced at Cas then looked at your daughter, "No you're human. Angels have something called grace which is the energy essence that makes an Angel who they are."
You chuckled, "Well we won't go into detail but your dad didn't have his grace when, you know... Another Angel took it for some selfish purpose. He was a human so you are completely human. Now, grace controls many factors like hunger, sleep and emotions, but most of all 'ageing'. It's the reason why your father hasn't grown old while I on the other hand I have."
"Oh mom you're still as beautiful as before," Your daughter told you and Castiel smiled widely. "I agree with that," He added, "For the eternity of time I have spent on earth, she is one of the most beautiful and kindest human beings I have met."
You looked at him with awe. "Coming for your father it isn't some cliché or pick up line, you can actually believe it," You said and Cas winked at you.
Castiel breathed out and your daughter looked at him. "Being an Angel means you don't get hurt, you heal and you don't fall sick but... I can't enjoy the taste of food or the way I feel while being with you and your mother. Happiness, sadness, love, anxiety, lust... it's all a big puddle," Castiel frowned and you looked at him sympathetically.
"But your father has changed, spending time with me and your uncles, he's become familiar with what us 'measly' humans do to pass the time and why we do what we choose," You explained and Cas shook his head.
"You all are more than just measly," He said, "You are my father's greatest creations-"
"Wait, father?" Your daughter questioned, "Dad you never told me about grandparents from your side."
He smiled softly, "Well, yes I have a father... Humans call him the Lord or God."
She looked at you with widened eyes and you chuckled. "Wait so God is my grandfather?!" She grinned, "Woah... that's actually really cool."
"We could meet him if you want-"
"WHAT?! SERIOUSLY?!"
"Well... He has sort of disappeared but the Winchesters had before, your mother and I were with them that time," Castiel clarified and your daughter nodded.
"Wow this is a lot to take in..." She drifted off and Castiel got up, going to your bedroom to change his clothes. Even though he doesn't seem to notice the difference he likes the concept of comfy pajamas.
You got up to leave the room but your daughter stopped you, "Wait mom... So aren't Angels supposed to just be light? Why does dad look like a human? Can he shapeshift?"
You smiled softly, while Castiel's humming was something you could hear in the background.
"Some very special people can perceive their true light form and their true voice but for anyone to witness them they need a vessel," You informed, "Jimmy Novak was your father's vessel."
"So... is he still there?" Your daughter asked quietly, a bit weirded out at the fact that someone else could have been spying on their lives this whole time.
"No he's in heaven. He was a great and devout man and he gave up his life and family to help the world, to help your father save the world," You told.
"He seems like a hero."
"He truly was."
You turned away but-
"Wait mom, so... how is it being with an Angel?" She bit her lip and you smirked. "It's great no doubt, half of the time your father acts like a lost puppy. I remember when you were born he was so confused and overly protective," You laughed, "He didn't want to hold you, it went on for days. Even when I found out I was pregnant with you, he was so lost to how the whole system works. He was horrified to find my stomach growing over the months."
Your daughter laughed a bit and you smiled. "But he's a sweetheart and I... I wouldn't choose anyone else over him," You said.
"So does Dad have a halo and a harp?"
"I don't have a harp!" He yelled from the next room, "Why does everyone continue to think that?!"
You and your daughter laughed. "He does have wings," You whispered and your daughter gave you a fascinated look, "Daddy can show some form of them to you but the best part is that only I can really see them properly... Because I'm his soulmate."
