~Chapter 39~

"Hey Amanda I got a job." I said as I walked into the kitchen. Reading the letter in my hands.

"Cool what is it?" She skipped over to me and peered over the piece of paper.

"It says that a sheep was separated from its flock and needs rescuing. It was last seen by the cliff." I said as I scanned the letter.

"Right...is it a magical rainbow sheep?"

"Nope."

"Can it fly and poop jelly beans?"

"Nope."

"Does it have any super power whatsoever?"

"Nope. Now lets go." I grabbed Amanda and walked to the front door before yelling that me and Amanda were going on a job request.

"Man how could a sheep ne so hard to find?" Complained Amanda as she struggled with the sac that was slung over her shoulder. It was bleating like crazy and kicking frantically.

"I never knew sheep could climb trees." I said thoughtfully as we trudged towards the back gate of the kingdom. As we approached the wooden gate it shattered and a spew of flames shot towards us. "Get down!" I grabbed Amanda's head and pushed her down next to me. The flames shot over our heads just missing us.

"Sounds like some party they're having." Commented Amanda as she stood up. The sac had run off somewhere bleating madly.

"Let's go see what's happening." We ran through the gate and were met by a giant green dragon. It looked towards us and hissed, showing its forked tongue. On its back was an armoured figure that stared down at us.

"More of you?! The King will be pleased." He said in a gruff voice and the green dragon advanced.

"Oh no you don't!" I pulled out my swords and so did Amanda. She battled the dragon showing off some amazing sword skills while I jumped on its back and clashed swords with its rider.

"You're a fool if you think you can challenge the king!" He snarled as he swiped at my head. I dodged and flew up higher. To my shock he also unfolded his wings and flew up too.

"You're an Adrenadite?!"

"You seem so shocked. It's a much rarer sight to see a female Adrenadite such as yourself. Not to mention your figure is very appealing."

"Am I being flirted with?!" I did a front flip and brought my foot down on his head knocking him out cold. He fell to the ground, landing on top of the limp body of his dragon.

"Yeah we totally beat his ass!" Celebrated Amanda.

"Bit soon to celebrate Amanda." I said worriedly as I looked at the kingdom. The streets were over run with even more dragons and their riders. People were running around screaming and guards were doing the best they could to defend the citizens.

"Aw crap." There was a giant blue explosion in the direction of our cottage.

"The house!" I yelled as I flew off towards the blue smoke. Leaving Amanda behind. As I touched down amongst the rubble I saw through the smoke a blue streak slashing back and forth. "Rin?!" I yelled as I ran towards it. Sure enough it was Rin, waving his sword around trying to defend against three dragons.

"Astria?" He turned to face me and was hit by a dragons tail. Propelling him in my direction we collided.

"Rin you okay?" I asked I picked my self up and then helped him up.

"Yeah, but I just didn't expect my brother to attack so soon." He said rubbing his head and horns.

"This was your brothers fault?!"

"Yeah. I'm just not sure why. But I did find it kinda odd how they seemed to be going through every house, as if they were looking for something."

"Or someone..."

"Heads up!" A dragon suddenly came pouncing at us. Much bigger than the others we'd faced earlier. Its rider was wearing pitch black armour and a purple plume coming from his helmet. The dragon pinned down Rin and he grabbed me by my horns.

"What is your name!" He said roughly yanking on my horns.

"What's it to ya?" I winced as my head began to bleed.

"Answer the question or you'll lose more than just a horn."

"Astria..." The helmeted figure looked me up and down and then nodded towards the other dragon riders.

"Astria! You bastard!" Yelled Rin as he unlodged one of his arms and stabbed the dragons foot. The dragon stared down at him and was about to take a bite when the armoured figure kicked the dragons flanks and it reared up.

"Rin...guys..." I said breathing heavily. My vision was getting blurry as blood trickled down my forehead and in between my eyes. I just hoped that everyone had gotten away safely.
