Devil's Trap

"They’ve got Dad." Dean growls once he hangs up. "Meg?" Sam and I asked and Dean just nods. "What’d she say?" Sam asked him. "I just told you, Sammy." Dean said, clearly upset. "Okay. Okay." He mutters as he takes the Colt and tucks it into the back of his jeans.

"What are you doing, Dean?" I asked him, concerned, as he grabs his duffel bag. "We got to go." He said. "Why?" Sam asked him. "Because the demon knows we’re in Salvation, all right. It knows we got the Colt. It’s got Dad – it’s probably coming for us next." Dean said as he puts on his jacket. "Good. We’ve still got three bullets left. Let it come." Sam said to him.

"Listen, tough guy, we’re not ready, okay? We don’t know how many of them are out there. Now, we’re no good to anybody dead. We’re leaving....now!" Dean yells and we gather up our stuff and load up and head out.

"I’m telling you, guys, we could have taken him." Sam said to us as we roared down the road. "What we need is a plan. Now, they’re probably keeping John alive, we just gotta figure out where. They’re gonna wanna trade him for the gun." I said and Sam just shakes his head. Dean and I glance over at him.

"What?" We asked. "Guys, if that were true, why didn’t Meg mention a trade?" Sam asked and he starts to get upset. "Dad, he might be...."

"Don’t!" Dean yells over him, quickly. "Look, I don’t want to believe it any more than you. But if he is, all the more reason to kill this damn thing. We still have the Colt. We can still finish the job." said Sam. "Screw the job, Sam!" Dean growls.

"Dean, I’m just trying to do what he would want. He would want us to keep going." Sam said. "Quit talking about him like he’s dead already. Listen to me, everything stops until we get him back, you understand me? Everything." Dean said, angrily, and it goes quiet before I speak up.

"So how do we find him?" I asked. "Maybe we go to Lincoln. Start at the warehouse where he was taken." Dean said and Sam scoffs. "Come on, Dean, you really think these demons are going to leave a trail?" He asked him. "You’re right. We need help." Dean said and we drive off into the night.

The next morning, Dean drives up to a familiar junkyard, which was full of junk cars and hubcaps nailed to the side of the house. A large dog is chained to a post and is lying on the hood of an old tow truck. This was the home of a man named Bobby Singer.

Bobby is an old friend of my dad's and John’s, but from what my dad told me; Bobby and John had not parted on good terms the last time they saw each other. My poor dad always seemed to be the peacemaker everytime he was with John as John always seemed to be fighting with a colleague.

We enter inside to see it’s untidy and cluttered with papers on every wall and books stacked everywhere. Bobby picks up two round silver flasks with crosses on them and hands one to Dean. Sam and I were sitting at a cluttered desk, reading a very large book.

"Here you go." Bobby said to Dean. "What is this – holy water?" Dean asked him. "That one is." Bobby said then he holds out the other flask. "This is whiskey." He said and he takes a swig of whiskey and hands it to Dean, who also drinks.

"Bobby, thanks. Thanks for everything. To tell you the truth, I wasn’t sure we should come." Dean said and Bobby waves vaguely at him. "Nonsense. Your Daddy needs help." Bobby said. "Well, yeah, but last time we saw you, I mean, you did threaten to blast him full of buckshot. Cocked the shotgun and everything." Dean said to him and Bobby shrugs.

"Yeah, well, what can I say? John just has that effect on people." Bobby said. "Yeah, I guess he does." Dean said. "Just glad that (father's name) was there to calm everything down or your dad wouldn't be around." Bobby said and I shake my head. "But...None of that matters now. All that matters is that you get him back." He said as Sam looks up at him.

"Bobby, this book....I’ve never seen anything like it." Sam said and Bobby comes over to Sam and sits on the corner of the desk. "Key of Solomon? It’s the real deal, alright." He said. "And these, uh, these protective circles. They really work?" Sam asked him. "Hell, yeah. You get a demon in - they’re trapped. Powerless. It’s like a Satanic roach motel." Bobby said and Sam chuckles.

"Man, knows his stuff." I said, smiling, as I pat Bobby's shoulder. "I’ll tell you something else, too. This is some serious crap you three have stepped in." Bobby said to us. "Oh, yeah? How’s that?" I asked him. "Normal year, I hear of, say, three demonic possessions. Maybe four, tops." Bobby said.
"Yeah?" Dean said.

"This year, I hear of 27 so far. You get what I’m saying? More and more demons are walking among us – a lot more." Bobby said and we give him a shock look.

"Do you know why?" Sam asked him. "No, but I know it’s something big. The storm’s coming, and you boys, your Daddy and (y/n)– you are smack in the middle of it." Bobby said when, suddenly, his dog starts barking outside.

"Rumsfeld." Bobby mutters and he goes over to the window just as the dog stops barking with a whine. "Something’s wrong." Bobby said to us when the door bursts open.

We turn around and see that Meg had
kicked the door in and she saunters in. Dean slips the holy water flask out of his pocket. "No more crap, okay?" She said, firmly. Dean comes at her, unscrewing the flask, but Meg hits him and sends him flying into a stack of books. I gasped, quietly, just as Sam steps in front of Bobby and I stand next to him, placing ourselves between Bobby and Meg.

"I want the Colt, Sam – the real Colt – right now." Meg growled as Sam, Bobby and I slowly move across the room and Meg follows us.

"We don’t have it on us. We buried it." Sam tells her but that seems to anger her even more. "Didn’t I say no more crap? I swear – after everything I heard about you, Winchesters, and even your friend there. I got to tell you, I’m a little underwhelmed. First Johnny tries to pawn off a fake gun, and then he leaves the real gun with you three chuckleheads. Lackluster, men. I mean, did you really think I wouldn’t find you?" She asked us and Dean comes up behind her

"Actually, we were counting on it." Dean said and Meg turns to look at him. Dean stares at her and then looks up at the ceiling. Meg also looks up and sees the large protective symbol etched up there. "Gotcha." Dean said with a smirk.

Later, Meg was tied to a chair in the middle of the floor and the boys and I watch her. "You know, if you wanted to tie me up, all you had to do was ask." Meg said as Bobby comes in with a very large canister of salt. "I salted the door and windows. If there are any demons out there – they ain’t getting in." He said

Dean nods and stands up, then moves around Bobby, Sam and I to stand in front of Meg. "Where’s our father, Meg?" He asked her on a rough voice. "You didn’t ask very nice." Meg said with a smirk. "Where’s our father, bitch?" Dean asked, firmly, and her smile falters. "Jeez. You kiss your mother with that mouth? Oh wait, I forgot, you don’t." She sneered.

Dean lunges at her, putting his hands on the chair arms. "You think this is a frigging game? Where is he?! What did you do to him?" Dean yells at her, angrily. "He died screaming. I killed him myself." Meg said. Dean just looks at her with hate, then hits her across the face. She raises her head and looks up at him. "That’s kind of a turn on – you hitting a girl." She said, a smile playing on her lips. "You’re no girl." Dean spat back at her.

"Dean." Bobby said as he gestures for Dean to follow him into the other room. Dean follows and Sam and I move up to him. "You okay?" Sam asked Dean, worriedly. "She’s lying. He’s not dead." Dean yells.

"Dean, you got to be careful with her. Don’t hurt her." Bobby said to him. "Why?" Dean asked. "Because she really is a girl, that’s why." Bobby said.

"What are you talking about?" Sam asked him. "She’s possessed. That’s a human possessed by a demon. Can’t you tell?" Bobby said as the boys stare at him while I mentally slap myself.

My dad told me that at one point in my life but sometimes your forget that when you fight the demons and when they cause you or anybody harm.

"Are you trying to tell me there’s an innocent girl trapped somewhere in there?" Dean asked Bobby. Bobby just nods and Dean looks at Meg, who is staring back at him. "That’s actually good news." He said.

Later, Sam starts looking through a book for an exorcism ritual. Then he looks at Dean and I before we move over to Meg. "Are you gonna read me a story?" She asked us. "Something like that." Dean said then he turns to Sam. "Hit it, Sam." He said and Sam looks down at the book. "Regna terrae, cantate deo, psallite domino......."

"An exorcism? Are you serious?" Meg asked as she looks at us while Sam continues reading in latin. "Oh we’re going for it, honey – head spinning, projectile vomiting, the whole nine yards." I said to her. As Sam continues to read Meg starts to flinch in pain. Sam looks at me and Dean while Meg looks over her shoulder at Sam. "I’m gonna to kill you." She said then she looks at me. "I'm gonna skin you alive." She growls then she looks at Dean. "I’m gonna rip the bones from your body." She said.

"No, you’re gonna burn in hell. Unless you tell us where our Dad is." Dean said but Meg just smiles at him. "Well, at least you’ll get a nice tan." He said then he glances up at Sam. "Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incuriso infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, onmis congregatio et secta diabolica...."

Meg shakes and jerks in pain as Sam reads the exorcism ritual. Then she finally gasps in pain and Sam stops. "He begged for his life with tears in his eyes. He begged to see his sons one last time. That’s when I slit his throat." She spat then Sam starts reading again and Dean leans down to her.

"For your sake, I hope you’re lying. Cause if it’s true, I swear to God, I will march into hell myself and I will slaughter each and every one of you evil sons of bitches, so help me God!" Dean threatens as Sam continues to read. Then the wind starts to blow through the room but Sam continued on and Meg starts to show signs of being in pain again.

"Where is he?" Dean asked her, angrily. "You just won’t take dead for an answer, will you?" Meg asked. "Where is he?!" Dean yells. "Dead!" Meg shouts at him. "No, he’s not! He’s not dead! He can’t be!" Dean said, upset and angry. Sam and I look at him with concern.

"What are you looking at? Keep reading." Dean growls at Sam and he goes back to reading while I continue to look at Dean. "(Y/n), stop." He said to me and I look down at the ground for a moment. The way Dean was acting, it was worrying me but it was also scaring me.

"Ab insidis diaboli, libera nos, domine. Ut ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias, libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos." Sam reads and the chair starts to slide around the circle. "Ut inimicos sanctae ecclesiae humiliare digneris, to rogamus audi...."

"He will be!" Meg screams then Dean jumps up at this. "Wait! What?!" He asked her. "He’s not dead. But he will be after what we do to him." She replied.

"How do we know you’re telling the truth?" I asked her, firmly. "You don’t." Meg said then Dean turns to Sam. "Sam!" He said, in a loud voice, but before Sam could continue to read Meg screams. "A building! Okay? A building in Jefferson City."

"Missouri? Where, where? An address!" Dean said, angrily. "I don’t know." Meg shouts back at him. "And the demon – the one we’re looking for - where is it?" Sam asked her. "I don’t know! I swear! That’s everything. That’s all I know." Meg replied and we stare at her for a moment before Dean turns back to Sam.

"Finish it." He said and Meg looks up at him, confused. "What? I told you the truth!" She shouts at him, frantically. "I don’t care." growls Dean. "You son of a bitch, you promised." She said and Dean leans down to her. "I lied!! Sam?" Dean said but Sam doesn’t say anything then Dean looks at him.

"Sam! Read." Dean said and I walk up to him. "Maybe we can still use her. Find out where the demon is." I said to Dean, quietly. "She doesn’t know." Dean said. "She lied." Sam said and Dean glares at us. "Guys, there’s an innocent girl trapped somewhere in there. We’ve go to help her." Dean said then Bobby comes up to us.

"You’re gonna kill her." He said and Dean turns to him. "What?" He asked. "He's right, Dean. She fell from a building. Her body is broken. The only thing keeping her alive is that demon inside. You exorcise it – that girl is going to die." I said to him.

"Listen to me, all three of you, we are not gonna leave her like that." Dean said to us, firmly. "She is a human being." Bobby growls. "And we’re gonna put her out of her misery. Sam, finish it." Dean said. Sam looks at his brother then at me and Bobby, not sure what to do. Then he looks over at Meg.

"Finish it." Dean orders. Sam takes a breath and keeps going. "Dominicos sanctae ecclesiae, terogamus audi nos, terribilis deus do sanctuario suo deus israhel. Ipse tribuite virtutem et fortitudinem plebi suae, benedictus deus, gloria patri...." Sam reads and Meg throws her head back and screams. The demon leaves through her mouth in a black cloud and spreads out in the protective circle in the ceiling before disappearing.

Meg leans forward and blood starts to drip from her mouth. The men and I stand there looking at her, not really sure it’s over. Meg slowly lifts her head. "She’s still alive." Dean said then he turns to Bobby. "Call 911. Get some water and blankets." He orders and Bobby rushes off. Dean and Sam untie Meg.

"Thank you." Meg whispers, weakly. "Shh, shh. Just take it easy, alright?" I said to her, soothingly. "Come on. Let’s get her down." Dean said as they lift Meg from the chair and we heard the sound of bones crunching. Meg screams in pain and I come over to help and we lower her to the floor. "Sorry, sorry. I got you. I got you. It’s okay. It’s okay." Sam and I said to her.

"A year." Meg said in a strained voice. "What?" I asked her. "It’s been a year." She said, a little louder. "Shh, just take it easy." Sam said to her. "I’ve been awake for some of it. I couldn’t move my own body. The things I did – it’s a nightmare." She explains, tears falling down her face.

"Was it telling us the truth about our Dad?" Dean asked and I look at him. "Dean." I said in a warning tone. "We need to know." Dean said to me as he glares at me then back to Meg. "Yes. But it wants...you to know...that...they want you to come for him." Meg replied. "If Dad’s still alive, none of that matters." Dean replied.

Bobby comes in with a blanket and a glass of water. He hands the glass to Dean while Sam and I cover her. Dean holds her head up so she can drink. "Where is the demon we’re looking for?" I asked her. "Not there. Other ones. Awful ones." She replied.

"Where are they keeping our Dad?" Dean asked. "By the river. Sunrise." Meg replied. "Sunrise. What does that mean? What does that mean?" Dean asked her, confused, but Meg let's out her last breath and dies.

"You better hurry up and beat it. Before the paramedics get here." Bobby said to us sometime later. "What are you gonna tell them?" I asked him. "You think you guys invented lying to the cops? I’ll figure something out." He said then he hands the Key of Solomon book to Sam.

"Here take this. You might need it." Bobby said and Sam smiles. "Thanks." Sam said. "Thanks... for everything. Be careful, alright?" Dean said and Bobby nods at us. "You just go find your Dad. And when you do, you bring him around, would you? I won’t even try to shoot him this time." Bobby said and I chuckle at this before the boys and I leave.
