Chapter 1: Water Has Memory
Frostina looked at Cordelia with a small sigh before shaking her head softly, "Cora, what problem are you stuck on?"
Cordelia looked up from her homework, startled. She then signed before showing the problem. It was a question about water and what special property does it have. An odd question but, seeing how she is taking a class course in Eden Academy.
Eden Academy does do surprise tests every now and then with the most random get riddled-type questions.
Not a reflection in water but, holds something more valuable within. What am I?
"Memory." Frostina responded after a bit of thinking, "It's odd yes but, water remembers a lot of stuff. Pain, grief, memories. All of it."
Water holds memory..
Frostina left after placing down some hot apple tea on the desk. Cordelia didn't move until her icy housemate left before breathing as the door was closed.
Finally, alone.
Cordelia felt tears sting her eyes. It makes sense why she couldn't forget what happened that night when she was left behind by her father.
She doesn't even know if it was intentional or not. One of her father's men left her at a hiding spot and never came back for her.
But who did find her? Some worker from a "shelter" called Dorothy. Sad part was, the shelter; Hathmoore Children Asylum, wasn't really a friendly place for children.
It was a place of experiments.
"Why am I here, Miss Dorothy?" asked a five-year old Cordelia. Looking up at the nurse-cladded woman who was holding her.
"Home little miss." said Dorothy with a fake smile.
"Will daddy be there?" Cordelia added innocently.
Dorothy just shakes her head. As much she wanted to lie at the little girl, Dorothy wasn't the one to lie. "Sorry little miss, your father wouldn't be there. The bright side is, you'll be surrounded by ones your age. Maybe gain some friends and a new family."
Cordelia was naively happy at the thought. Though, that happiness was taken away after learning the truth of the place. To this day, it still hurts her.
Cordelia has power of water.
The ironic part is?
She remembered everything that was torturous for her. The needles, slapping, the cries of everyone who was getting experimented on by the other doctors.
Cordelia's cries was heard from inside the room as Frostina's face morphed into a sad one. Cordelia would never learn that Frostina has never left the door but, was listening always.
Maybe one day, she'll call Frostina out for it.
As Cordelia cried more, the water in the house started to act up. Scaring Rosemary who was drinking water.
"MY WATER-" Rosemary seen her water evaporated into the air. Leaving her cup waterless. "Oh, come on!"
Thankfully; Bellatrix, Tatiana, and Esperanza was out doing their own things. So, they wasn't as affected as much.
As time passed, everyone was settling in for the night after a awkward time at dinner as usual. Cordelia didn't eat much since her earlier emotional episode just drained her of energy.
As she slept, her bedroom door opened as Frostina came in. The icy girl just smiles at Cordelia before noticing that her housemate was sweating a bit.
Humming, Frostina used some of her ice magic to make the room-temperature air turn a bit cold. As Frostina expected, the water girl calmed down.
A rare at-ease smile on her face.
"Works everytime.." Frostina said to herself with a small grin. "Sleep well, Cora. I'll make your favorite sweet and sour ribs for dinner tomorrow."
Carefully, Frostina placed a kiss on Cordelia's forehead. Her lips left a peppermint like feeling on the fleshy yet smooth surface of a forehead.
If Frostina didn't save Cordelia that day from the Nexus program. Who knew how lost in the mind she will be? To this day, that thought keeps Frostina up most at night.
The Nexus Program is where patients are experiencing a full-blown force of escapism. It digs deep into your mind of your wishes, desires and all of that.
You can never age.
You can go the past or the future.
Cordelia just wanted to be home with her dad and family.
The Nexus Program tapped into that deepest desire and formed a perfect world for the water girl.
Sad part was? It was working.
Cordelia was slipping, almost believing that perfect world was real.
The doctors would of been successful to get her former roommate's guard down if she didn't bust into the room, making the doctors not even getting far on Cordelia. Hell, Frostina even brashly demandthey give back Cordelia and used her magic to freeze everything while trapping the doctors in spiked crystals.
"I got you, Cora!" A pre-teen Frostina speaks hastly after making the straps freeze over before breaking them in half. Holding her bridal style, Frostina skated down the ice covered hall.
With the heart pounding, it triggered her ice to cover the hallway. So, Frostina has the upper hand as she glides down the hall while holding Cordelia.
"..and I am never gonna let you go!"
That was a promise kept by Frostina to this day. Frostina played with Cordelia's hair in thought. It was obvious that she wanted Cordelia to at least give the other girls a try and talk with them.
"Throwing yourself into your schoolwork is never gonna help you, Cora." Frostina speaks after a bit. "You should at least give the other girls a try. Not saying you gotta be full-blown friendsy with them. Trust takes time."
No response came from the sleeping beauty next to her. Frostina hummed a bit then gets off the bed.
Leaving the area, Frostina closed the door then goes to her room. She never told anyone but, the day of her rescuing Cora. The higher up grabbed Frostina during down time and dragged her into the punishment room.
Which was a padded room that was empty.
Her punishment?
The higher up slapped her multiple times before kicking her in the stomach. Frostina cried a lot that night.
Resulting in the Punishment Room getting covered in ice, frost and some snowflakes floating around. Making the air inside of the room very cold.
No one dared step into the room when Frostina is in there.
Why?
It was so cooled that even doctors refuse to go in there.
She was stuck in the room for the three days without eating anything. By the time she was allowed to come out, the only food that was given is slop.
Cold and mushy, not even cooked! Just thawed. How Frostina didn't die from food poisoning was surprising itself.
Don't get Frostina wrong!
She was going to tell Cordelia about her punishment eventually. Just after everything Cordelia went through, Frostina didn't bother to say anything.
Cordelia went through enough.
Last thing Frostina wanted is to add more onto Cordelia's already ruined heart.
She couldn't do that to her..
Never..!
