twenty-two

twenty-two - "you ruined the moment, zombie-ass!"

Mira shook her head at herself and continued to look at the giant ship that kept rising out of the fog. More gladiators appeared behind Loki, who still stood triumphant.

"Do you actually wanna help, dumbass?" she shouted. Everyone looked at her, and Loki gave a glare. Mira smiled sweetly. He jumped off and walked over to her.

"Hello Mira Lam," he said. Mira tried to seem taller. She never realised how tall Loki was.

"Hi, traitor," she said back. "How's your day going? Did you like the electricity? I sure enjoyed you getting shock-" He cut her off by kissing her cheek. Mira was shocked. "W-what the...L-Loki...wh-why..."

"Can we save people now?" Korg interrupted. Mira and Loki looked up.

"Uh yeah," Mira nodded. Loki turned to the Asgardians who were staring at them blankly.

"Did you miss me?" he asked. One guy shrugged, and Loki rolled his eyes. "Everybody on that ship now." All of the citizens quickly shuffled onto the giant spaceship and created a hectic scramble for escape. Sakaarian gladiators helped escort everyone so they wouldn't fall off the bridge.

Loki walked over to Heimdall, and Mira followed him cautiously.

"Welcome home; I saw you coming," the dark-skinned man said.

"Of course you did," Loki sighed. The three turned towards the incoming soldiers.

"This will be fun," Mira said.

"Very," replied Loki.

The two started fighting, Loki throwing magical daggers and Mira continuing her pattern of whips and fireballs.

"You know, you really suck," Mira said while she kicked a soldier off the bridge. Loki impaled another one and sighed again.

"I'm sorry," he said. Mira rolled her eyes and lashed out her whip onto someone's neck. It grasped at the golden rope with desperation.

"Sorry isn't going to cut it," she responded. Flicking her wrist, the whip threw the enemy into a group of Hela's soldiers. They all fell to the ground in pain. Her whip returned to her wrist.

"Show off," Loki muttered. He turned back to her with two knives in his hands. "I am, alright? And I thought you didn't care about me." He smirked, and Mira gave him a look. He threw one of the knives at her. She ducked, and it hit a soldier who had been about to attack her.

"Thanks," she said.

"You're welcome," he nodded.

"I don't care that much" Mira grumbled, dodging another soldier. Her whip wrapped around it, and squeezed until the figure turned to dust.

"Aw that hurts," Loki pouted. She rolled her eyes. He stabbed another soldier and walked up to her again. She raised an eyebrow. "I know you care."

"How? You don't know me!" she argued.

"I'd disagree," he laughed, putting an arm around her waist and twirling her around a bit. Mira tried to hide her blushing. "I now know you like when I do that, so there's one thing." She pushed him off.

"Stop being nice again," said Mira, pretending to be mad. Loki laughed again and hit another soldier.

"It's the only thing I'm good at," he replied. "Next to lying and daggers."

"Sure," she said.

The two kept fighting next to each other, playing off of the other's moves. Daggers and fireballs flew around in unison, killing enemies left and right. It was a bit of an intense sight. The Asgardians were still being escorted by Heimdall and the Sakaarians onto the giant spaceship for refuge.

"They're almost all off," Mira said loudly. Loki looked over at the last few crowds getting off of the bridge.

"Let's get closer," he pointed. Mira nodded, and they continued to fend off the straggling zombies.

"You know," Mira said, "I fight better than you."

"Is that so?" scoffed the god. She grinned and pushed her hand out to a soldier. He blew up in flames and then stumbled off of the bridge.

"Yep."

"Mortals are so very, very full of themselves," Loki commented. Mira shrugged, and then looked over to see Cora near her, punching someone with swatches of suffocating fabric. Bruna was also nearby, slashing through zombies with her Dragonfang.

"This team is great," she brightened. She also heard Hulk still fighting with the giant wolf. Loki looked at her with a sigh.

"They're ok," he said. Mira punched another soldier, turning it into ash.

"Rude."

"It's who I am," said Loki.

"What happened to nice Laufeyass? Hm?"

"Only on certain occasions," he smiled. Mira laughed. Suddenly, there was a huge crack of lightning. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked up. Mira widened her eyes, and Loki gasped slightly.

A bulky figure jumped from the Asgardian palace to the bridge: Thor Odinson himself. However, Mira had never seen him in this state. Thor was pulsing with electricity, one eye gone, muscles bulging. He was a living storm. The sky crackled with lightning, and black clouds were all around. Hela's soldiers noticed the sparking god and ran over in a craze. He was unfazed and dove right into the fight. Bolts of lightning spread out from his whole body, shocking all of the enemies dead. As he ran past, groups of zombies were struck by the electricity, turned to dust. It was mesmerizing.

"Watch out!" Loki yelled out.

Mira looked behind herself, but it was too late and she felt a blow to the head. She fell down in pain, cussing out the soldier on instinct. Her vision blurred, and her head swam. That was a good punch, she thought. She felt it kick her in the side, and she curled up into a ball, protecting her head. It kept kicking and trying to stab her, but Mira rolled around desperately. Right when it was kicking her stomach again, she heard a slice and it all stopped. Mira gazed upwards to see Loki picking her up. She stood with his help.

"I told you to watch out," he said. Mira slapped him. "Ouch."

"I think I love you," she said, kissing him. He was surprised, but gave in, kissing her back. He pulled her close, and she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Mira didn't care that they were in the middle of a chaotic battlefield with a truly electrifying Thor on the other end, screaming Asgardians on a huge spaceship, and zombie soldiers rushing all around them. It didn't matter at all.

Until a zombie actually hit Loki. Mira glared at it as Loki clutched his arm.

"You ruined the moment, zombie-ass!" she yelled. She chucked a fireball at its face, and it ran away in fear. Loki laughed and grabbed her waist, kissing her again.

"You're lovely, Mira."

"Thank you."

They heard a small cough and turned to see Thor. His body was now more normal with less lightning bolts. Mira cringed at the gaping hole in his face. She didn't do too well looking at that much blood.

"You're late," Thor said to Loki.

"You're missing an eye," Loki said back.

"You both love each other, ok? Ok," Mira nodded. They rolled their eyes at her (although Thor only had one). Bruna whistled, and the three looked over. She walked up to them, pushing brown hair back. She had taken out her braids, and Mira thought it looked great.

"This isn't over yet," said Bruna. She continued walking, and they followed her. Mira saw Hela across the bridge.

"She's still alive?!" she exclaimed. Bruna nodded. "She is one persistent, mean lady." Mira went close to Loki, both still aching from bruises. They all huddled together to protect the Asgardians. Hela came nearer with every second, furious.

"I think we should disband the Revengers," Thor said. Mira rolled her eyes.

"It was never a good team name anyway, blondie."

"Hit her with a lightning blast," Loki pointed. Thor glared and shook his head.

"I just hit her with the biggest lightning blast in the history of lightning. It did nothing," said the blonde.

"That's true," Mira agreed. "So what do we do?"

"Hold her off until everyone is on board," Bruna said.

"Wait where's Cora?" Mira looked around.

"She's helping the people," said Bruna. "She's good at helping."

"Ok good," Mira said, knowing Bruna just didn't want the redhead to get hurt.

"You know it won't end here," Thor said. He pointed at the approaching goddess. "The longer Hela's on Asgard the more powerful she grows. She'll hunt us down. We need to stop her here and now." Bruna raised an eyebrow.

"What's our move?" asked the brunette.

"I'm not doing 'get help,'" Loki muttered.

"Oh can we please do 'get help'?" Mira pleaded. Loki gave her a look. "What? It's hilarious." Thor was contemplating the situation. His eyes lit up with an idea.

"Asgard's not a place, it's a people," he said slowly. "This was never about stopping Ragnarok...it was about causing Ragnarok!" The three looked at him with confusion. He turned to Loki. "Go to the vault. Surtur's crown. It's the only way."

"Bold move, brother, even for me," Loki said, slightly impressed. He gave Mira a quick kiss on the cheek again before running off to the Commodore. Mira tried to hide her blush once more.

"I'm not going to ask," was all Thor said.

"Damn, I lost my bet to Cora," Bruna muttered.

"What?" Mira said.

"Nothing," replied the Valkyrie. "We should probably fight her." She nodded towards the goddess of death.

"Shall we?" Thor asked.

"After yo-"

"I wanna go first!" Mira exclaimed, cutting Bruna off. Thor raised an eyebrow. "Ok fine you can go first, Mr. God of Lighting and Thunder and Shit." Bruna laughed, and Thor groaned.

As Mira and Bruna got ready to defend, Thor sprinted at Hela. She smirked and sprouted two new swords. His newfound lighting powers were coming in handy. Mira cheered as the blonde blocked all of the black blades with bolts of lightning. But then, after a few more fast-paced fists and kicks, Hela stabbed his shoulder with a laugh. As if having super speed, she ran past him rapidly.

"Time to go?" Mira asked Bruna. She nodded. "Have fun."

"You too, Miss Goddess," Bruna grinned. Mira laughed, and the two women charged valiantly.

Mira spun her whip towards the goddess, trying to latch onto her. Hela dodged with incredible speed and hissed. Mira waved as a distraction, and Bruna ran up, jumping onto the goddess. They went down for a second, then Hela shoved the Valkyrie off.

"I remember you," sneered Hela. "You're supposed to be dead, aren't you?" Bruna growled.

"Say one more word and your head gets cut off," she said. Hela laughed and clashed blades with the Dragonfang.

Mira threw a fireball, causing Hela to duck. Bruna ran again, sword aimed at the goddess. Hela sidestepped and blocked all of the blows. Thor tried to land another punch unsuccessfully. Mira threw two fireballs at a time, mildly scorching her own left hand. Hela threw Bruna into the flames and pushed Thor off. The two stepped back for a minute.

"I remember you also," Hela said, unimpressed.

"Hi," Mira said. "You know, maybe you should change up your style sometimes. The boys like that kind of stuff." Hela narrowed her eyes and threw a knife. Mira ducked.

"I specifically remember how annoying you were, mortal," the goddess hissed. "And now you are in love with that idiotic Frost Giant? How very stupid."

"He's sorta your adopted brother, so you're being rude," Mira shot back. She flicked her wrist, and the whip wrapped around Hela tightly. The goddess struggled with difficulty, but the whip stayed strong. "Aw, you're captured by a mortal. Isn't that nice?"

Hela smiled and summoned another knife. She twisted her hand upwards and started using the blade to cut the rope. Mira felt a sudden burning sensation in her arm, and she screamed. No one had ever tried cutting her whip off before, except herself. It had been so long ago, she had forgotten the pain. The whip raveled back onto her wrist limply. Mira clutched her arm, gritting her teeth.

"Not so cocky now, are you?" Hela smirked. She stepped towards Mira, but then was tackled down by Thor. They started throwing punches again. Brana ran over to the Asian.

"Are you ok, Mira?" asked Bruna. Mira nodded and wiped her tears away.

"Y-Yeah, I think so," she said. They watched as the last couple of families ran onto the giant ship.

"Thor!" Bruna called. Thor looked over, and Mira saw Heimdall looking at them too. She also saw Korg, who seemed tired.

"Go!" yelled Thor. "Go now!" Cora pushed through the Asgardian crowd as the ship lifted slowly. With big eyes, she looked back down at the bridge. Mira's heart hurt.

All of a sudden, Thor cried out in pain. Hela had just harpooned him to the ground with another dark blade.

"Damn you and your stupid swords!" Mira shouted. She ran over but was pulled back by a small dagger puncturing her shoulder. "Shit!"

"Mira, stop being an idiot!" Bruna said, dragged her away. She pulled the knife out and held a piece of cloth to soak up the blood. Mira noticed it was the same pink material as what Cora usually wore.

Hela raised her hand, and Mira gasped as a huge black rock raised up from Asgard's foundation. It hooked onto the spaceship, preventing it from leaving the sky. Enemy soldiers began climbing up on it like hungry spiders.

The next scenes were a blur to Mira. The bleeding was somehow worsening, probably because of Hela's powers. Her eyesight went in and out, and Bruna tried to keep her awake. The Asian saw an Asgardian pull out two machine guns and start peppering zombies. He shot them down in large groups, becoming a hero. Loosening the rock with bullets, the man jumped down onto the bridge. The spaceship was now free. She wondered who he was. As he approached the goddess of death, she gave a disappointed look. And just as quickly as he had saved the people of Asgard, he was stuck down by a large spear.

Another hero, dead.

Hela walked over to Mira and Bruna, a smirk on her lips.

"We...c-can still fight," Mira murmured. Bruna shook her head and then glared at Hela.

The goddess was about to fling out another sword into her hand, when Thor interrupted her. He was hunched over, blood dripping from his shoulder.

"You want Asgard?" he asked. "You can have it!" She narrowed her eyes.

"Whatever game you're playing, it won't work!" she declared. "You can't defeat me."

"No," Thor laughed. "But he can!"

And with that, Mira saw a giant, lava monster roaring.

"Now that's something you don't see everyday," she mumbled.
