twenty-three - "did you just say you love me?"

"Is that a giant lava monster or am I seeing things?" said Mira. Bruna facepalmed a bit.

"No...no!" Hela screamed. Her eyes were wide with fear. The giant monster, Mira remembered his name as Sutur, roared and grew taller. He smashed buildings, including the palace, in a frenzy of fire. Hela was horrified.

"Go now," Mira nodded to Bruna. The Valkyrie grinned, lunged, and thrust her sword into Hela's chest. The goddess stumbled back in shock, then glared at the two. Mira noticed the giant escape spaceship continue its flight.

"How dare you," Hela hissed, pulling out the sword and throwing it to the ground. She swung towards Bruna, who ducked, but then was thrown back by Thor. He punched her, making her step back again, and helped Mira up.

Thor picked up the Dragonfang, stabbed it into the ground, and summoned lightning, causing large cracks in the bridge. Hela widened her eyes again.

She scrambled forwards, but the ground crumbled beneath her before she reached them. Mira heard her scream as she fell into the bedrock of Asgard. The Asian winced.

"Well I guess she's gone now," she commented. Thor nodded. The three looked up at Sutur, who was getting larger and swinging a giant, flaming sword.

"Tremble before me, Asgard!" he yelled. "For I am your reckoning!" Thor and Bruna watched in awe and horror as Sutur destroyed everything. Mira bit her lip, feeling bruises swelling all around her body.

"The people are safe, that's all that matters," Bruna said, slight reluctance in her voice.

"We're fulfilling the prophecy," replied Thor.

"Sucky prophecy if you ask me," Mira sighed.

"I hate it," Bruna nodded.

"Me too," Thor said. "But we have no choice." He paused. "Sutur destroyed Asgard, he destroys Hela, and our people live."

"We need to let him finish-" Bruna was cut off by a rushing wind. The three widened their eyes to see a flash of bulky green run towards Sutur.

"Hulk, no!" Mira said. Hulk ignored her, leaped off of a building, and right into Sutur's face. He started pounding the giant monster with ferocity, even though Sutur didn't seem to notice anything.

"Hulk!" Thor yelled, angrily. "Stop it, you big moron!" Hulk didn't stop and attempted to rip out one of Sutur's horns. Mira facepalmed.

"In which Bruce's 7 PhD's aren't helping at all," she muttered.

Sutur finally noticed the small green man, and he narrowed his eyes. He grabbed Hulk with a fiery hand and hurled him down to the bridge in a spectacle of smoke and flames. Hulk stayed on the ground for a moment, then stood up with even more anger.

"Hulk!" Thor yelled again. Hulk turned around. "For once in your life, don't smash!"

"What he said!" Mira agreed. Hulk roared.

"But...big monster!"

"Hulk, let's go!" Bruna said loudly. Hulk sighed and nodded.

"Friends," he muttered. He walked over, scooped all of them into his arms, and proceeded to jump up into space to reach the escape spaceship.

"I'm sometimes jealous of your jumping abilities, Hulk," Mira said once they landed. It was a soft landing, and Hulk put them down gently. He grunted with a tired smile.

They all were exhausted. Mira noticed how Bruna walked over to Cora, slumping slightly. Cora gave her a big hug, making the Asian smile. All of the citizens of Asgard were crowded around the windows to watch their homes be destroyed in the flames. She saw a little boy crying and her heart broke.

Suddenly, they largened their eyes in fear as Hela appeared once again! She burst out from the waters in a mighty explosion, seething with anger. Her eyes were narrowed, and her face was set.

"How is she not dead?!" Mira exclaimed. Some Asgardians nodded in agreement.

Hela pushed her hand out, causing a huge black spike to stab into Sutur's shoulder. He turned around furiously.

"I am Asgard's doom!" he declared. With the final word, the giant thrust his sword into Asgard's core and Hela's own heart. She was once again driven down into the ocean.

The civilians looked in sorrow as he yelled powerfully. He drove his sword further into the core, breaking more and more of the floating land. The spaceship drifted farther away.

"The damage is not too bad," Korg said heroically. The people turned to him. "As long as the foundations are strong, we can rebuild this place. It will become a haven for all people and aliens of the universe-"

The rock man's inspirational speech was interrupted by the sound of a large explosion. They all watched as everything considered "Asgard" was destroyed and burst apart. Everyone went silent in ultimate shock. A giant earthquake shook the ship, and pieces of rock flew past. Sutur was gone, along with everything else.

"Nope, those foundations are gone," Korg said. "Sorry."

"Our homes are gone forever," a woman whispered.

"What have I done?" Thor said quietly. Mira put a hand on his shoulder. Heimdall walked over.

"You saved us from extinction," he said to the blonde. "Asgard is not a place, it's a people."

As she looked around at the various families and warriors, Mira wondered where Loki was. The thought of Loki brought up the thought of fighting, which brought up the thought of pain. She knelt down, clutching her bruised and bleeding sides and biting the insides of her cheeks. Thor looked down worridley.

"Are you ok?" he asked. She nodded her head, eyes squeezed shut.

"I'm completely fine and dandy," Mira murmured, feeling nauseous. She fell down, and the people around her gasped.

"Mira!" she heard Cora say.

"Cora, I'm a-ok," she mumbled.

"She says that when she's not ok," Thor commented.

"I hate you, blondie," Mira slurred. She felt herself starting to blackout. Before she went unconscious, she felt a strong person lift her up and she knew exactly who it was.

"I got you," he whispered.

Mira opened her eyes slowly. The first thing she saw was a blue ceiling, and the first thing she heard were blurry voices. She sat up and rubbed her side. The memories of passing out came back. Everything was a dull pain, like an aching memory. It felt better though, so she was glad. She felt bandages around her cuts. The room she was currently in was fairly small, with teal walls and a bed (which she was on). Mira was about to try and stand when someone opened the door. She looked up.

"You're awake," said Loki.

"You're here," said Mira. He smiled.

"May I come in?"

"You kinda already are, so sure," she said, moving onto one side of the bed. He laughed, closed the door, and went to sit next to her. The two sat in a silence. "Where is everyone else?" she asked.

"Thor is in the room over, putting on an eyepatch, the Valkyrie and Cora are with the Asgardians, and all the people are in a main room outside," Loki counted off of his fingers. "Oh Bruce Banner is with them too. Along with the Sakaarian gladiators."

"So they're all safe," Mira said with relief.

"Yes," Loki nodded. "We're safe."

"Finally," laughed Mira. "It's been a long couple of days. Or weeks. Space is weird."

"It is," he nodded again, cracking another smile.

"So..." Mira looked down, trying not to notice how his hand was very close to hers. "What are you doing here?"

"I want to be around the people I care about," he said simply. Mira raised an eyebrow at him.

"So you're here?" she said. She poked his arm aggressively.

"Ouch," he said.

"Oh you ARE really here," Mira grinned.

"Yes," Loki laughed. He kissed her, and she melted a bit.

"Ok you need to stop that, Laufeyass," she pushed him away.

"Why? What am I doing wrong?"

"Using that as an interruptio-" He kissed her again. "See?!"

"I thought you said you loved me," Loki grinned. Mira blushed.

"U-uh I mean, yeah? I don't know. It's weird."

"Love is a very weird feeling," Loki agreed. There was another pause. "Oh I just remembered that I have another story to tell you." Mira clapped.

"Ears are open." She leaned back on the wall, and he turned to her, smiling.

"Well," Loki started. "You know that monstrous beast I talked about before in Sakaar?" Mira frowned.

"That time you were rude as hell? Yeah I remember that."

"I told you I was sorry. Anyways, well I decided to try and talk to that beast." He smiled again.

"Is that so?"

"Yes. They actually turned out to be...not that amazing, but close."

"Wow thanks."

"You're not letting me finish." He cleared his throat. "I never thought a monster could be kind or humourous or caring. But I...I guess they can be. It makes me think about the monster of myself." Loki looked downwards. "Maybe monsters don't have to be that bad. Maybe you could even...even fall in love with one of them." Mira's eyes misted. She shifted over and went to hug him. He hugged her back tightly.

"Did you just say you love me?" she whispered.

"Maybe," he whispered back. Mira let go of him and started laughing. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No!" she laughed. "No, that was great! I-I just...I'm really happy right now." Mira rubbed her eyes. "I think I'm going to cry; this isn't good." He wiped away her tears and kissed her again. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and he wrapped his around her waist. "We're both not perfect, but that's ok," Mira said. "However I'm just a little more perfect than you Laufeyass."

"You're the same as the day I met you," laughed Loki.

"We should probably go and tell everyone that I'm ok," Mira said.

"Or we can stay here forever?" Loki suggested. She laughed but went to stand up, causing him to stand too.

"Very funny, but unfortunately we don't have Strange's magic time stone thingy," she said.

"Fine, fine," he sighed, taking her hand. "Let's go meet the new king."

A few minutes later, Mira, Loki, Bruna, Cora, Hulk, Heimdall, and Korg were standing by the whole Asgardian-Sakaarian population. A chair sat in the middle of them, and a huge window panned out in front of them.

"Space is pretty cool," Mira whispered to Cora. The redhead nodded with a smile.

"I never imagined going anywhere other than Sakaar," she said back softly.

"Maybe we can go back to my home! And then I can show you around!" said Mira with excitement. "We'll get churros!" Cora laughed and nodded again.

"Earth sounds fun," she said. Loki put a hand over Mira's mouth to shut her up.

"Hey!" she said muffled. He took it off and then pointed to the parting crowd. She saw Thor walking through, his blonde short hair messed up and newly applied eye patch glinting in the light. With his armour and stance, he truly looked like a royal.

The Asgardians separated around him, letting him to the front of the ship. He reached where Mira was standing and looked up at her.

"I like the new accessory, pirate god," she grinned. He grinned also.

"Your throne," Bruna bowed. With some reluctance, Thor sat down. He looked behind him at the thousands of the citizens behind him. They gazed at him, waiting for their new king to tell them directions. He waved at them awkwardly, and Mira smiled.

"You're going to do great as a king," she patted his shoulders.

"Thanks, Mira," he said.

"Where to?" Heimdall asked.

"I'm not sure," Thor replied. "Any suggestions?" He turned to Korg. "Miek, what's your home planet?"

"Oh, Miek's dead," Korg said. He held up an exoskeleton of a jellied body. "I accidentally stepped on him on the bridge. I've just felt so guilty I've been carrying him around all day."

"Oh...that's unfortunate," Mira said. Suddenly, the skeleton wriggled to life in Korg's arms. The rock man's face lit up.

"Oh Miek!" he said. "You're alive!" He pointed to the body. "He's alive everyone! What was your question again?" Mira burst out laughing, and Loki smiled because of her, thinking about her smile.

"Earth it is," Thor said.

"Yay!" Mira cheered. She hugged Loki, almost wanting to cry from happiness. 

Finally, she would be able to get back to Kal. Finally, she loved someone more than she had loved David. Finally, she had friends again who she cared deeply about.

Finally, a good day.

Mira smiled to herself, and wished for it to never end.
