*Rosies POV*
Darkness. That's all I remember seeing. For the first few hours, they let me see nothing but darkness, so that I would be forced to do what they wanted me to; use my powers.
See, I'm a superhero and like the comics and movies, I have powers. They're very similar to those of Superman, however; I have a few upgrades. While we share the powers of strength, knowledge, godlike senses, invulnerability, superhuman speed and flight, I also have the power of x-ray vision, telekinesis, invisibility and a few others that aren't important in this story.
The problem is that like Superman I have weaknesses. My biggest weakness being electricity, but only in forms of sparks, static electricity and lightning, so it's rare I ever truly feel weak and helpless.
I also once had a secret identity. Her name–my name was Roselyn King, but everyone called me Rosy. Nonetheless, the only name I am known by now is Project-Ro. Why am I called this? The explanation is simple. The government found out about my "abilities" and took me captive.
The last thing I remember before they took me was being at school with my friends. Everything after that is a blur. I lost my sight. Felt someone put a bag on my head and then I went numb. So when I woke up in a room that was pitch black, I assumed they had blinded me.
I tried to move around but I was being held by my wrists, ankles, and waist to a cushioned wall. My mind automatically went into defence mode, using my other senses to try and figure out where I was. I smelled two distinct aromas, pine trees, and masculine perfume. The smells seemed to mix like oil and water in the air. I suspected my location was somewhere in a forest, maybe underground? I couldn't be sure.
I tested my x-ray vision, hoping maybe that still worked, and regretted the decision immediately. A shock of electricity jolted through my spine. The pain was unreal. It felt like there was glass in my bloodstream, cutting me from the inside out. It was like I was being crushed by a car with people still inside to add extra weight.
It was excruciating. It was humiliating. It was weakening.
Once the electricity was turned off, my body went slack. I hung from the wall like a rag doll, limp and pathetic.
"That dearest Ro," I heard a voice call from in front of me " is what happens when you attempt to use your powers" The voice was deep and filled with curiosity. However It sounded a bit warn out, like he spent his whole life smoking cigarets.
A light flashed on in the room. Allowing me to see the place I was trapped in. The room was made mostly of white cushions aside from the fluorescent lights in the ceiling and iron cuffs holding me against the wall. Across from me, there was a wall of one sided mirrors, with a circle cut into the glass, acting as a doorknob. The only other important detail was the F.B.I symbol that was imprinted on the glass, indicating that I was down here because of the government.
"Who's there?" I called, feeling the lack of power in my voice. I tried again, this time with more force."Show yourself!"
Suddenly, a boy came into the room through the mirror. He looked about my age with brown eyes and hair as well as tanned skin with freckles spread across his nose and cheeks. He at first seemed extremely scared to approach me, which I don't blame him for, but after I raised my head up only enough for my hair to move out of my eyes and for his to lock with mine. He walked over to me.
He looked so innocent. Like a child walking into a haunted house, he was terrified and unsure of whether or not this was real. "H-Hi" He stuttered out, "My name is Seth Hera." I stayed silent. Whoever was behind the glass didn't like the quiet because I got a shock of electricity again, this one more painful then the last. Seth had backed away, pressing himself against the wall. I glared at him, as if all of this was his fault, when I caught my reflection in the mirror.
My pastel pink ear length hair was crazily untamed as some of it stuck to my forehead from the sweat. My skin had lost some of its tan making my stormy silver eyes stand out more. There was a crazed look in my eyes, making me appear as a madwoman. My facial expression was murderous, if looks could kill everyone around me would be dead by now.
Then I looked back to Seth. He was horrified. His eyes were round as saucers, sweat was dripping down his forehead. So much fear could be seen in his eyes I'm surprised the brown orbs didn't explode. I pitied him.
He stood up and ran out of the room, slamming the door behind him. For a few moments, there was nothing but silence, until the mirror cracked and glass shattered, scattering around the room. Cutting the cushion.
A man in his mid-forties was thrown in front of me, with a cigaret bud, dying out in his hand, indicating that he was the voice I had heard moments before, but I didn't get a good look at him before the cuffs gave in and I was dropped to the floor. I landed on the glass, leaving cuts in my skin but I ignored it. Standing up and attempting to hover above the floor. I was only a few inches above the ground but it was enough. I moved to see who the man laying unconscious in front of me was, but before I could turn him over someone cleared their throat.
Seth stood in front of a control panel by the glass with a look of determination on his face. "Now" he said "What did you say your name was?"
I smirked. "Get us out of this building and I'll tell you". He shrugged and motioned for me to follow him as alarms went off around us. I flew towards him and grabbed his shoulder turning both of us invisible. Seth must've realized what happened and kept calm. I felt him looking around for me until I moved my hand to his and began pulling him through the building. He soon took the lead and pulled me through the halls. Soldiers passed us without noticing our presence. I thought this would be an easy escape. Until I tripped on the corner of a wall and lost my focus while falling. The invisibility turned off as I fell, and Seth turned to me in a panic. There were soldiers surrounding us almost instantly. Each with a gun pointed at my head.
"Really?" I whined. I stood up, brushing imaginary dust off my knees, and pretended to surrender. One of the guards came and as he was about to cuff me I pushed him forward. He cracked the wall as he crashed and took a few other guards with him. Bullets went flying in my direction but they only damaged my clothes as I turned on my invulnerability. Using my speed, I took all the guns from the soldiers and put them in a pile away from them. Crushing them for added measure under my bare feet, and cracking the floor in the process. The guards around me looked at each other confused as to what just happened. Then I used my favourite power; telekinesis. The men floated around me, with looks of complete panic and distress embedded in their faces as Seth was left standing. Watching them, in amazement, as a light chuckle erupted from his chest. Seth turned to me with an awe-struck look. I shook my head and grabbed his hand. He guided me through the building. We didn't run into anymore guards, as the hallways were eerily quiet aside from the alarms going off, it was like walking through an empty building alone, in the middle of the night.
When Seth and I reached the doors I pushed them open with such force that they flew off the hinges. I let go of Seth's hand and flew in the air, enjoying the feeling of the cool wind against my skin and my hair blowing in my face. I flew back down to the ground and hovered right in front of Seth, offering my hand to him. When he took it I lifted him off the ground using telekinesis. He was scared and clutched my hand with both of his as we flew farther and farther from the ground. I had the wind in my hair, and freedom in my heart.
"Hey" Seth called "You never told me your name"
"Roselyn" I answered "but you can call me Rosy"
I didn't know why I was kidnapped, nor did I care. All that mattered to me now was that I was free and I knew that if the government ever came after me again, I would be ready for them.
