Four
Jayla bit back a scream as she fell. The wind whipped through her hair. She closed her eyes and concentrated aith all her might on flying. Hoping the ground wasn't as close as she imagined. Terrible thoughts coursed through her mind as she panicked. Her eyes snapped open and she flailed her arms. As she began to feel hopeless, she slowed down. Then she stopped completely and realized she was hovering in the air. She was flying! It suddenly felt right, almost normal, like she had been doing this forever. Leaning forward, she began to fly. Going up, she scanned the city. Spying a abandoned building a few blocks over, she began flying towards that.
Reaching it, she lowered herself to the roof. When her feet hit however, she found it difficult to stop, rolling forward, then stopping, and fell on her back.
"Need work on the landings," she mumbled, sitting and brushing herself off. She kept sitting there, thinking about what she had done. It was the best thing the could have done, right? If she stayed, who knows what could have happened. No one has had these abilities before, so she'd probably be stuck in a lab, being thrown into tests. They wouldn't care about helping her learn, they'd give her the bare minimum of help, just so they could benefit themselves. She was sure this was the right option. But her mom... she would be devastated. If she stayed though, what would her mom have thought? Even Jayla was horrified when she found out about her powers. She felt sad though. A single tear leaked from her eye, but she brushed it away. This choice was final.
Jayla stood up, walking over to a door. Opening it, she saw stairs going down. Taking her flashlight out of her backpack, she clicked it on and advanced down the stairs. They were dusty, sending clouds of dust flying into the air whenever she stepped. She entered the next floor. There were no windows, and she saw stairs on the other side of the room that advanced down. She decided to stay here for now. It was fairly warm, and she was tired. Going over to the corner of the room, she pulled out her blanket. Using her jacket as a pillow, she pulled the blanket over her, and concentrated on going to sleep.

Back at the hotel room, the men had been knocking and yelling for a few moments.
"I'm positive I heard something in there," Sam, one the men had said.
"Me to."
A hotel staff they had called, rushed up beside them, holding an extra key to the room. Her name tag read 'Sally'. She knocked one more time. "Anyone in there?"
"We knocked several times, whoever is in there isn't opening up," the second man, Leo, said.
Sally nodded, then slipped the key card in until it beeped, then pushed open the door. They all stood there in shock for a moment, unable to speak. The room looked like a tornado had plapwed through the place, then bomb had exploded in the room. Near the bed area was completely burnt, and it smelled strongly of smoke. It was completely destroyed. Sam rushed into the room. Everyone else followed.
"Well, there's no one here," Leo said, careful not to step on anything.
"What did we hear though?" Sam questioned.
"I'm not sure..." Leo trailed off.
"Look, the window is open," Sam said, pointing to it.
"I'm going to call the police," Sally announced, running out of the room.
"What are you doing??" Demanded a loud voice, as Jayla's mom stood in the doorway, gaping at everything. "This is my room!"
"Sorry Ma'm," Leo said. "But we heard the most monstrosity of a ruckus coming from in here. We rushed here, and when we knocked we heard something else. But when the door was opened, this is what it was like." He swept his hand around the room.
"Where is she?" Jaylas mom said frantically.
"Who...?" Sam asked. "There wasn't anyone in here."
"My daughter!" Jayla's mom said in a thrill voice. She began running around the room, shoving aside stuff. She reached the desk, and saw the smear of blood on the floor. "No no," she moaned. "She must have been kidnapped." She said, not sure what else to think. Sinking down on the floor, she put her head in her arms and cried.

Jayla awoke drowsily. She felt refreshed. But she sat there. She realised she didn't have anything to do. It was sort of..... lonely. She took her backpack, taking out a cheese stick, now warm, but ate it anyways. She thought for a solid minute, and came up with a few options. One, she could find an abandoned field somewhere and practice her powers, so overall she could be like a superhero. Two, she could explore the building. She chose option two for now.
Jayla got up, stuffed her blanket back in her backpack, and set it against the wall. She proceeded to walk to the steps. They were lit by the sunlight, and she started down them. Maybe there was something interesting in this old building, she thought. She hoped anyways.
She stepped down the last stair onto the next floor. This floor had large square windows circling the room. A huge broken wardrobe was pushed over on its side by the edge of the room, and a towering stack of boxes were shoved in one corner. A few windows were broken, the shattered glass still laying on the floor beneath them. A slight breeze swept through, sending a stray leaf floating in. It fluttered to rest by the edge of the room. Having nothing else to do, Jayla went over to the leaf. It was a pale green, looking to have just blown off the tree. She kept looking at it, when she noticed something. Outlined in the dirt on the floor beside it was a footprint. It had to be new, otherwise the winds here would have blown it away. Then she heard a faint rustle behind her.
Jayla whipped around with a start. She saw a boy dressed all in black emerging out from behind the boxes. When he knew he was found out, he jumped out from behind them, hands outstretched. Suddenly, shooting from both his hands came water, coming straight for her. Jayla was to terrified, and lifted her own hands, letting a stream of fire at the boy. Suddenly, there was a loud steaming noise, then a huge puff of water vapor filled the area, blinding her. Jayla immediately ceased her fire, and crouched down. She blinked in confusion as she was able to see again. The boy she saw stood there, water dripping from his hands, looking just as confused as she was.
"Your one to." He said.
