Girl of Steel

*L-Corp

"Good afternoon, Miss Danvers."

"Afternoon, Jess." Kara greets the secretary as she walks towards her best friend's office.

Jess tries to stop her from entering the room but she fails.

_

"Hey, Lee. I bring burgers, french fries and chocolate milkshakes," Kara pauses.

There is a meeting going on. All heads turn to her and giving dirty look.

"I'm gonna excuse myself," Kara forces a smile.

_

"Mr. Joseph be sure that you send the proposal of raising funds for cancer treatment and medication to L-Corp by the end of this month."

"Of course, Mrs. Luthor."

"I'm glad that we manage to finish this meeting on time. Any questions or comments? No? Well then, thank you gentlemen for coming. The meeting is adjourned."

_

Ring ring

Jess picks up the phone. "Hello... She's still here... Yes, ma'am."

"Miss Danvers, your presence is expected," Jess points to the CEO office.

_

"Please have a sit. Do you want some coffee or tea?"

The blonde shakes her head, "What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same question" Lilian replies.

"Don't play with me."

"Someone needs to run this company. Since Lena goes to God knows where. I will replace her for a few days," Lilian takes a sip of her tea.

"Lena never takes a leave from work."

"It's about time she does. Due to recent events, I wonder what tricks she has up to her sleeve to keep her sanity when everything is going wrong,"

"Are you worried about her?" Kara sarcastically asks.

Lilian brushes off the question and changes the subject.

"When I captured and imprisoned you at a hidden base of Cadmus; I told you that I don't like the idea of you around my daughter," Lilian takes a flash disk and plugs it to her laptop. "Since my daughter appears to be incapable of figuring out your true nature, my son exposed you to her. You are nothing but a liar to her," Lilian snaps. "I hate to say this but mother knows best. One way or another, you break her heart," She plays the video of Kara as Supergirl. "You have shattered the bonds you two share. It would be difficult to put them together."

"It's never my intention to hurt her. I take the blame but don't you think that I give up. I will regain her trust," Kara says full of determination.

"Lena needs you now more than ever. You are the only person who is always be there for her. A friend whom she goes whenever she needs a moral support," Lilian hands a piece of paper to Kara. "She might left it as a clue."

"What does it mean? It just shows the house of El family crest," Kara wonders.

Lilian rolls her eyes, "That's for Lena to know and you to find out. When you find her, she will shut you out. Ask you to leave. Stay with her," Lilian warns.

"You love her, don't you?" Kara asks.

"Without a doubt," Lilian smirks.

*Luthor's mansion (flashback)

"That's enough," Lilian took the empty scotch bottle from her daughter's hand. "I hate to see you like this. You're so sad and quiet. Some may say I pity you," The younger Luthor rolled her eyes.

"You knew that Supergirl is Kara Danvers. Why didn't you say anything?"

"Because it's not my secret to tell. She should've been the one who reveals her true self. On the other hand, I was confident that you would figure it out one day. Never thought a pair of glasses could deceive you," Lena said nothing, but sobbed.

"My darling daughter. Come here," Lilian opened her arms and hugged Lena. "Tell me the truth. How you holding up?

"Malcontent, disgruntled, miserable, desolated... Why the tears won't stop?" Lena wiped her tears but more falling down. "She lied to me every day to my face about who she was. Am I a fool to her? I don't know if I can trust her ever again," Lena took a deep breath and exhaled. "My itty bitty imaginary boxes don't work this time."

"Don't hold it all inside. If you're mad, get mad. Shoving your feelings deep down to those tiny boxes; it's destructive," Lilian says.

"It never crosses my mind that we have a mother-daughter talk. You actually comfort me. This is oddly satisfying." Lena chuckles.

"What can I say? I do care about you," Lilian pauses. "I apologize for my past actions. I failed to be a good mother. If it's not to late, I want to build a better relationship with you."

"Thank you mother," Lena raised her glass and smiled. "It's late. I should probably go to bed."

"Your friendship with Kara means the world to you. Talk to her and let her explain. There are always two sides for every story," Lilian says.

*DEO

Kara has been observing the note for the last hour. That little piece of paper is stressing her out.

"Do you figure it out yet?" Alex asks.

Kara shakes her head.

"How about you use x-ray vision, in case there is a hidden message," Alex suggests.

"Oh Rao. There is a picture of Supergirl statue. The one which Lena built for me," Kara smiles but then turns into a frown.

Alex sighs, "You dumb dumb. The answer is in plain sight."

"Help me," Kara pouts and Alex gives in.

"Where can you find that statue?" Alex asks.

"Oh!" Kara flies away from DEO headquarter in a flash.

*Girl of Steel Statue

Lena sits by the waterfront, admiring the statue of National City savior. She remembers the day when she stands behind the podium at the unveiling of the Girl of Steel Statue. The event ends quickly when an earthquake erupted near the waterfront. Thankfully, Supergirl is there to control the situation and save everyone.

Kara makes a soft landing and walks closer to where her friend sits. Lena turns her head slightly over her shoulder, enough to look who's sitting beside her.

"You found me," Lena breaks the silence.

"I did," Kara says.

...

"Two girls sitting on a bench two feet apart because they're fighting," Kara jokes.

Lena stands up.

"No. Wait," Kara begs. "Lena, I tried to share my identity but every time I chickened out."

"Why?"

"I'm afraid to lose you. You've been through a lot and I don't want to make you suffer more. Because the last thing I want to do is to hurt you."

"You did hurt me." Lena punches Kara's arm. It's a bad decision having her fist connects with something so solid.

"Ouch." Lena yelps in pain. "Don't touch me. I'm still mad at you."

"I'm sorry," Kara's voice is so small.

"You have been lying to me, this whole time."

Kara can see the pain in Lena's eyes.

"I deserve nothing but the truth," Lena is angry. "You are my friend Kara. You see the real me. Not my name, my family, my fear, nor my fake smile. Did you run? No. And do you think your background as the last daughter of Krypton could make me love you less?"

...

"Look at me," Kara turns her head. "When Lex showed me the footage, do you know what I saw?"

"A liar," Kara answers.

"A hero. Kara, in many occasions, you save me. Even it's risking your identity to others," Lena smiles. "Lex probably thinks I will hate you. He's wrong. It makes me love you more. Kara Danvers or Supergirl, you always make sure to keep me save. To be on my side."

"I met your mother."

"What did she say?"

"According to her, you will shut me out. But I need to stay with you. She is worried about you."

"She really puts a good effort to rebuild our relationship," Lena smiles. "But we're here to talk about you. I imagine it was difficult to conceal your identity. To hide and to pretend. People always get hurt when being lied to. But no one ever ask how the liar feels. How are you?"

"I feel glad that you don't throw that bottle of wine to my head on game night."

Lena rolls her eyes. "That would be a waste."

"To be honest, I am happy. I can't live a lie anymore. With you accepting the whole me is a blessing. I'm aware that rust is a learn skill for you. Though I betrayed you, I wish you can find it in you to forgive me and trust me again. I promise from now on, I won't lie to you ever again. Because I would rather hurt myself than to make you cry," Kara lets out a deep breath. "With everything in the open, the invisible weight on my shoulder has been lifted."

"Do you bring the note I left for you?"

"Yes, I keep it," Kara picks it out from her pocket. "Alex helped me."

"Have you discovered the second message?"

The stunned face on Kara's face make Lena laughs.

"Flip the note. And use your flashlight. What do you see?"

"I see my hero at the bottom of the page," Kara raises her eyebrows. "For the second time, I don't get it. Rao, I'm dumb dumb."

"Look closely," Lena turns on her flashlight and points it to the center of the note.

The blank page reflects a girl who wear glasses and has a crinkle on her forehead. Kara stares at her reflection.

"Supergirl might be National City's savior, but, Kara Danvers, you are my hero."

"Oh."

"Supergirl, Kara Zor-el or Kara Danvers, those are just names. I look at you and I see what's inside your heart. A brave, hard working, loyal and the most compassionate person/alien I've ever met," Lena cups Kara's face. "I love you. All of you."

Kara leans in and plants a soft kiss on Lena's lips.
