Kara unrolled the letter in front of her sister who eagerly peered at the piece of paper in the Bastard's hands
"Sansa must you stare?" Kara chuckled at her half sister
She heard a scoff from the red head. "You are obviously still too naive to handle yourself" The eldest stark quipped back
Kara looked up from the scroll "Remember you are talking to your queen" She smirked at her sister who rolled her eyes
"Your a queen who doesn't want her crown. So I'm making sure, as lady of Winterfell you don't fuck up"
Kara gasped dramatically and placed her hand over her chest for dramatic affect "Did Princess Sansa just curse, by the old gods and the new the world is coming to an end"
"Oh shut it, i have no time for decorum with you. I don't care that your Queen of the North, Your still my sister"
Kara shook her head, she shivered slightly at the cold despite her heavy furs "I'm your half sister. I'm still a bastard"
Sansa rubbed Kara's arm to try and comfort her "And I regret ever treating you that way"
The pair shared a moment of quiet, the only noise being the creaking wood under them and the distant sound of soldier's training "So what does it say?"
"You'll never believe it" Kara ran her hand through her hair and handed the scroll over "Your ex-husband is the hand to Lena Targaryen"
Sansa was visibly in shock "The daughter of the Mad King" Her ice blue eyes bore into the piece of paper
Kara paused to think, Winter was coming that was never in doubt and she knew that one of the few things that could stop the dead was dragonglass which was sitting under the castle that The Targaryen Queen was occupying. And the letter was an invite to bend the knee, which was out of the question but she could try and get resources for the Great War
"You better not bend the knee"
Kara looked back to Sansa, the red headed Stark had read her mind "I would never, but it is an opportunity to gain resources"
"You shouldn't go, send someone in your stead"
Kara knew Sansa had her best intentions despite the icy tone was met with.
"A queen should be met by a queen and anyway, I'll be leaving someone very capable in Winterfell"
Sansa folded her arms in annoyance "How could you make up your mind so easily-"
"Because I'm leaving you in charge. Sansa you are the power in the North, I just happen to have the title. You are right, I am naive. All I have ever done is go into battle, and win and loose. I don't know politics, when the Great War is over" Kara took a deep breath "I will be abdicating the throne, to you"
Sansa's jaw dropped "Kara you must be joking"
The blonde shook her head "No, I am a wartime hero. Not one to lead a nation to peace, my name is the Girl of steel after all"
Sansa wrapped her arms around Kara catching her off guard. "I'm sorry I never treated you for being the best person I know" She said into Kara's furs despite the Red Wolf being taller
"Together the pack survives. As long as we stand together no one can stop us"
Sansa pulled away "You're a dork"
Kara shrugged "At least I can laugh" Kara smirked and started to run in the opposite direction to not get slapped by her sister
"You're lucking I'm wearing a dress!" Sansa yelled after her half sister who stuck her tongue out "I will use your sword to cut that damn tongue off!" Sansa continued to yell playfully
When Kara arrived at Dragonstone, first of all she was glad to be on land her stomach didn't fair well with the seas. Second of all she wasn't expecting to be met by a giant man with a ponytail with her chest half exposed.
She was glad she had discarded some of her Fur's, it was slightly warmer than the cold North. She couldn't stop herself from smiling when she saw Tyrion, the man who joined the Night's watch with her. However they took different paths, she looked up to find woman with gentle olive skin. Her brown eyes were enticing, she hid skill
"Welcome, Our Queen Thanks you for making the journey. Your weapons" Her voice was soothing, with a foreign accent that Kara had never heard before.
Kara looked around at the Dothraki men. Reluctantly she unbuckled Longclaw, her trusted sword from her belt and handed it over.
"Thank you, please follow us" Tyrion asked.
Kara looked up, the castle was immense. Sitting atop cliff and hills, with a thin staircase leading up. She joined Tyrion on the walk up
"How did a Lannister become the hand to a Targaryen Queen?" Kara chuckled.
"I'll tell you when tell me how you survived a knife to the heart"
Kara shuddered at the memory. She had been killed, and then brought back. Betrayed by her own men, for sparing lives.
She still bore the scars from the incident.
Suddenly a screech tore the air, Kara immediately reached for her blade but obviously she was met with nothing. She looked up to find three giant creatures flying in the sky. She couldn't believe it, Dragon's were real.
"I should say you get used to them, but you never really do." Tyrion looked down at the Frozen Queen "Come on their mother is waiting for you"
Two giant doors were opened, Kara was lead in by the woman from earlier who she found out was called Missandei. Missandei took her place near the Queen.
That's when Kara saw her, her breathed hitched in her throat when she was the Queen. In front of her sat, the most beautiful woman she ever saw. Her eyes were a piercing green, her black hair was tied back into a series of braids. It put Kara's hair to shame, which was had a simple bun holding it half up.
Her beauty was indescribable, her high set cheeks and jaw line. Her very position commanded power, she had control of the entire room and she knew it
"This is Lena of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons" Missandei recited the Queen's titles, the Targaryen didn't flinch
Kara immediately felt like the smaller monarch but she knew enough to know this was a tactic done on purpose.
Davos her own hand spoke up "Kara Snow, First of Her Name. The Bastard of Winterfell. The White Wolf. Sworn Sister Guarding the Realms of Men.
Lady of the First Men and the Free Folk. 998th Lady Commander of the Nights Watch.
Defender of the Wall. The Resurrected. Queen of the North" He recited Kara's own titles. She hated hearing them, she didn't want to remember the lives she had to take to earn those titles.
That's when the Queen spoke, Her voice was commanding yet soft "Thank you for traveling so far My Lady, I hope the seas weren't to ruff"
Kara nodded gracefully "The seas were kind Your Grace"
However she didn't notice something that her hand did. "My apologies Your Grace, I have a flee bottom accent but Kara Snow is a queen in the North, she isn't a Lady"
Tyrion turned to his queen "This is Ser Davos"
"Forgive Ser Davos, I never did receive a formal education but I swear I did read that the last king of the North bent the knee to protect his people" Her head tilted slightly causing Kara's heartbeat to speed up slightly "Or Do I have my facts wrong?"
Davos nervously shifted "I wasn't their Your Grace"
Lena smiled cooly, she had won "He sworn an oath and an oath is an oath. Which he swore in perpetuity" The Dragon Queen turned to her hand "What does perpetuity mean Lord Tyrion?"
"Forever" Tyrion answered keeping his gaze on The Northerners
"Forever, So I assume My lord. You are here to bend the knee" The queen added emphasis to the title, she had a satisfied smile on her face
Kara sighed "I am not"
"Oh" their was genuine surprise in Lena's voice "You came all this way to break faith with house Targaryen?"
"Break faith? An oath with a King who burned my family." Kara immediately regretted what she said. She started to wish she had sent Sansa instead
"I ask you on behalf of house Targaryen to forgive the crimes of my evil father. House Targaryen and House Stark have been allies for centuries, some of the best centuries this land has ever seen. Kara snow, bend the knee and I will name you warden of the North. Together we can defeat those who would destroy this country" Lena was not one to give up. Kara could see that clearly
There was a moments silence, Kara glanced around the throne room "You are right. You are not guilt of your father's crime but I am not beholden to my ancestors vows"
Kara saw the smile on Lena's face fade away "Then why are you here?"
Kara thought about how her sister would approach this "You haven't stormed king's landing yet but you have three dragons and soldiers which are hard to miss. Which means you don't want to kill millions of innocent people, so I understand you are better than Cersei and I admire any woman who is willing to save lives rather than take them away. So I've come here to save lives, a duty you seem to understand"
Lena turned to her hand, who shrugged slightly "What is this duty that you came all the way here for?"
"The Great War is coming Your Grace. Millions of people will die at the hands of an army who doesn't tire and doesn't thirst and if they pass us their will be no kingdom to save. We are all children in a game" Kara knew she fucked up at the last sentence
"I thought you said you liked this woman" Lena asked Tyrion
"I do" Tyrion replied
"yet she has refused to bend the knee and called me a child"
"I think she is calling us all children figure of speech"
"Your Grace, Everything and everyone will die if we don't stop the threat to the North" Kara started to sound desperate
"As far as I can see you are the enemy to the North" Lena's tone was harsh
"I am not your enemy" Kara glanced at Tyrion "The dead are the enemy" She knew how ridiculous she must have sounded
"The dead?" Lena said sarcastically "Is that another figure of speech?" She asked her Hand but Kara replied instead
"My lord, you don't know me well. But am I liar or a madwoman?"
"No-"
Lena clenched her jaw and stopped herself from rolling her eyes
"The dead are real and if we don't stop-" Kara took a step forward but immediately stopped when two Dothraki took a step in her direction.
"I was born at Dragonstone, not that I can recall" Lena stood up for the first time, she started to walk down "We fled before Robert's assassins could find us. Robert was your father's best friend. I wonder if your father knew that Robert sent assassin's to murder a baby girl in her crib"
Lena tone changed, it was now more commanding and had lost its softness "Not that it matters how of course" she stopped in her path for a second then continued "I spent my life in foreign lands, though many men have tried to kill me I don't remember their names"
Each step was calculated. This time she put an emphasis on each word "I have been sold, I have been chained and betrayed. Raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing through all of that?" Lena asked
Kara didn't respond. She knew when to stop talking
"Faith, not in any gods not in any myths and legends, in myself" Lena glare bore into Kara "Lena Targaryen. The world hadn't seen a dragon until my children were born. The Dothraki hadn't crossed the sea, any sea"
The women were now only a few feet apart "They did for me, I was born to rule the seven kingdoms and I will"
"You will be ruling over a graveyard" Kara spoke quietly, her voice was soft "If we don't defeat the night king"
"Then bend the knee and we will defeat what you saw beyond the wall" Tyrion asked
Kara scoffed "Your Grace, I mean no offence but I don't know you. My entire life has been built on trust, perhaps naive at times and I paid for it but your only claim to me for the throne is you father's name which my father helped to overthrow. I was chosen by a stubborn people to lead them and I will"
"Then I shall point out that claiming you are the Queen of the Northern most kingdom means you are in open rebellion and I am the rightful ruler of the seven kingdom's not six"
Another man walked in, he whispered a few words in Lena's ear. "Excuse my manners, My Lady I would like you to join me for dinner later on this evening" She turned around
"Am I your prisoner?" Kara asked, trying to hide the blush from the request that the queen made
"Not yet"
That's all folks
Tell me if you want a part 2
