Wait for me (Part II)
Kara sat on her bed, wrapped in blankets with food surrounding her and Netflix open on her laptop. She sat content, chowing down her third bowl of popcorn.
"You look.. relaxed?" Lena smiled slightly at the scene, Kara looked over with her mouth full of popcorn.
"Oh.. yeah" she quickly swallowed the popcorn and smiled, "Finals are over, so why not?"
"Surprising" Lena muttered, narrowly missing a pillow from Kara "Well, since your in such a good mood, I was wondering if you wanted to come to a party?"
"What are they even celebrating now?" Kara rolled her eyes.
"That finals are over, duh"
"Oh, of course, my bad" Kara sarcastically replied. The two fell silent, sharing goofy smiles.
"So I'm taking that as a no?" Lena tied her shoes, muttering something under her breath.
"Yeah, I'd rather not- what did you say?" Kara leaned forward, suspicious.
"Oh, nothing, nothing to worry about" Lena shrugged with a smug smirk. Kara narrowed her eyes, sitting up.
"Tell me"
"No"
"Tell me"
"No"
"Lena.." Kara stood up with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Don't you dare" she warned, backing away.
"I will, if you don't tell me"
"Never" Lena whispered fiercely, yelping in surprise as Kara pushed her against the bed, her strength surprising Lena. She straddled Lena, looking down at her with a triumphant smirk.
"Surrender now, before it's too late"
"Never!" Lena grinned, shrieking as Kara's hands attacked her stomach, tickling her.
"Kara! S-stop it!" Lena shrieked, struggling to get her off between her laughing and shrieking.
"Tell me your little secret" Kara demanded with the famous witch impersonation.
"N- Fine! F-fine, just.." Lena hid her face in the blankets as she yelled with laughter.
Finally, Kara ceased her torture, though still straddling her she leaned back with a smile. Lena looked up at her.
"You're a monster"
"Oh, I know" Kara shrugged.
"Now, tell me"
"Fine." Kara leaned forward a bit, interested. "I said you're not going to the party because you're too scared to get drunk again" Lena smirked.
"What!" Kara gasped, "I wasn't even drunk last night" Lena roared with laughter, dying down to a chuckle. Kara crossed her arms, not getting what was so funny.
"What?"
"Kara, you were so drunk that when we got home you insisted you still had to study-"
"Sounds normal to me" Kara muttered.
"Then colored my face with a highlighter because you said I was important" Lena snickered as Kara blushed in embarrassment.
"I.. sorry I was-"
"Drunk. Obviously" Lena grinned, Kara blushed even more. Lena easily flipped her over, and smoothly slid off her, fixing her hair.
"Well, I'm off, have fun" Lena picked up her phone, saluting her before leaving.
Kara laid on the bed, blushing furiously as she played Lena flipping her over in her head, but with a.. different scenario.
..................
Lena pushed the girl against the wall with a soft thud, continuing her trail of kisses on her neck, dragging down to her collarbone. The girl, Lena doesn't even know her name, moaned softly as Lena added another hickey to her collection.
Suddenly, her phone went off with a familiar ringtone that she set for Kara.
"Ignore it" the girl panted, pulling Lena in for a messy kiss. The two continued, but again her phone went off.
"Just.. give me a second" She pulled out her phone, seeing that it was Kara.
"Do you have like something that I can talk privat-" The girl pointed at doors that led to a balcony. Lena closed the doors behind her and called Kara back. She instantly picked up, which put Lena on edge a bit.
"The results are in" Kara croaked out over the phone.
"For what?"
"Finals"
"Oh, well. How'd you do?" Silence fell over the line, she glanced at her phone making sure Kara didn't hang up.
"I.. Lena.." Kara let out a shaky breath, "It's so bad, I'm so stupid I just-" Kara's voice broke as she broke down into another bracket of sobs.
"I'm coming"
"Wait, Lena it's-" Lena ended the call, refusing to hear any excuses. Running out of the balcony and past the girl, ignoring her shouting of protest, she ran down the steps and out the door.
The dorm being not that far, was walking distance, so she ran all the way. Thoughts of Kara clouded her head, her feet carrying on and before she even realized it she had opened the door, closing it behind her.
"Kara? Oh, Kara" Lena's heart sunk at the once happy scene that was now covered by tissues and a single case of alcohol, though it seemed untouched.
"Lena, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" Lena ran over to her, engulfing her in a hug. Kara's tears soaking the front of her shirt, Lena rubbed her back, allowing her to let it all out.
Finally, Kara pulled away, wiping at her eyes.
"Did you drink?"
"No" she mumbled. Lena nodded, moving next to her and going under the covers, pulling her to do the same. As they both got comfortable, Lena rolled over facing Kara, Kara doing the same.
"It's my fault" Lena sighed, rubbing her face. "I forced you to go to that stupid party.. you know I wish I was more like you, I once was like you." Lena caught Kara by surprise, raising her eyebrows. Lena continued, laying on her back as she explained.
"When I finished high school, I had invitations from Yale, Stanford, Harvard, Columbia and.. a bunch more..." Lena took a deep breath.
"I rejected all of them and went here-"
"Why?!" Kara was baffled, beyond baffled, Lena had a dream opportunity and rejected it.
"Because my mother didn't like it. She doesn't like a lot of things that I do, but she can't do anything about it. At least not anymore"
"Your mother sounds.."
"Mean, crazy, cruel.. she's all of those things. It's why alcohol and parties and all of that junk, keeps me from having to think about it. It's just somewhere in the back of my mind. And when it comes back, I just get a drink." Lena pursed her lips, her voice becoming wobbly. She didn't like that, her voice breaking or revealing itself before she's ready. She hates it when her body betrays her mind.
"Aren't there other ways to deal with it?" Kara softly asked, tracing patterns on Lena's arms. Maybe ice cream? Kara thought, imagining a big sundae full of her favorite ice cream and toppings.
"It's better than cutting myself" Lena smiled bitterly, regret filled her as Kara abruptly sat up with panic in her eyes as she looked down at Lena.
"Kara, it's-" Lena pulled her back down beside her, she stared at Lena with wide eyes.
"I wanna see"
"Kara-"
"Please" she spoke quietly with big eyes. Lena sighed, letting her head fall back on the pillow.
"Fine" Kara slowly pulled up Lena's sleeve, turning her arm over to reveal pale white lines that were barely noticeable. They trailed from her forearm down to her wrist. Clearly the cuts have been opened and reopened, countless times, though they look healed and untouched for a few years.
Tears in her eyes and with shaky hands, Kara traced the cuts. She never knew this side of Lena. She doesn't like this side of Lena. But, she appreciated it. Lena doesn't. Lena took a shuddering breath, looking up at the ceiling.
"Lena" No response.
"Lena.. look at me" she held Lena's face, guiding her to look at Kara. Rolling over onto her side, the two faced each other, Kara's fingers gently stroking her cheek.
"Do you hate me?" Lena whispered, her eyes big and vulnerable. Like glass. Lena is as vulnerable as glass at this moment, and Kara is holding her delicately on her fingertips. One wrong move and she'll break.
"The opposite" Kara murmured with a sad smile tracing her lips, the last of her tears streaking down her cheeks. Gently, she moved Lena's stray hairs out of her face. It wasn't fair to Lena. Nobody could help her, nobody knew this side of her. Lena deserved better and Kara is willing to make that happen.
"Say it" Lena whispered, her bottom lip shaking. The two moving closer as if a magnetic force was pulling them.
"I love you, Lena Luthor" Lena let out a shaky breath she hadn't known she had been holding. Kara lay still, practically shaking with anticipation for the feeling of lips on hers.
Lena wanted to, oh she wanted to. But, she wasn't ready. So, she just hid her tears of guilt and sadness in the crook of Kara's neck.
The two sat in silence for a bit. Lena taking slow calming breaths, the sweet scent of Kara that brought safe haven to her calming her nerves.
"Lena?" Lena hummed in response in her neck.
"Have you ever had a girlfriend?" Lena shook her head. Kara was taken aback.
"Really? Why?" It was hard to imagine Lena never being in a relationship with all the girls that fawned over her.
"Commitment issues, not finding the right one.. stuff like that" she lifted her head so her response wouldn't be muddled, meeting Kara's eyes.
"Why?"
"Why what?" She breathed out. She knew what she was asking, she was just stalling.
"Why the question?"
"Just.. wondering" Kara winced at how stupid that sounded, good job, Kara she mentally scolded herself, Lena smiling slightly at the crinkle that appeared on her face.
"Have you ever thought of being in a committed relationship with someone?"
"Yes, but again, it has to be the right person"
"And.. and what is your idea of the, uh, right person?" Kara hesitantly asked, pushing her luck a bit.
You, Lena wished to blurt out and just kiss her, oh she wanted to so badly but.. that would be selfish. Putting Kara in danger's way of her family and even herself. She knows she'll hurt Kara, somehow screw it up. She'll rather die with her unsaid feelings than hurt Kara. That is something she is committed to.
"Go to sleep Kara" Lena hushed, deflecting the question.
"But-" Her protests died down at the feeling of calming fingers against her scalp. She hummed in appreciation, sinking deeper under her covers.
Lena was avoiding it. The elephant in the room. Kara didn't mind, she knew Lena wasn't ready. She can wait, she'll wait as long as Lena wants. Kara promises this in the depths of her mind, engraving it into herself.
Kissing her on the forehead, Lena silently stood up, moving to her bed. She was stopped by fingers wrapped around her wrist.
"Where are you going?" Kara muttered, her eyes still closed.
"Just going to my bed, I'll be right here" Lena tried to pry her fingers off, but she held a strong grip.
"Wh.. no.. stay with me, please" Kara opened her eyes slightly, pouting.
"Fine" Lena sighed with a soft smile, giggling as Kara pulled her on top, wrapping her arms around her.
"Good night"
"Good night" Lena looked up, admiring the features of her future love.

*Little BONUS scene thingy*
Maggie barged into the room, having stolen the spare key from Alex before she left,
"Wake up blondie!" She yelled, waking the grumbling blonde up.
"What the hell!" Lena sat up, her hair flung over her face. Maggie's eyes widened then settled into a smug smirk.
"Ooh, Kara stepped up her game for once" Maggie snickered, dodging a pillow from Kara.
"Get out, as if I never walked in on you and Alex going at it" Maggie ignored her and picked up a black and green lace underwear with a fancy shape L on it.
"Luthor, is this yours? You can't deny the evidence" Maggie waved the underwear with a triumphant grin.
Kara raised an eyebrow, looking over at the crimson Luthor.
"I- how would I? I-I didn't! I just dropped that from the laundry load" She quickly spluttered out, clearly flustered.
Kara hummed, still skeptic. Lena yelped as cold hands brushed against her front.
"Kara! Did you just?"
"Just checking" Kara smirked slightly, seeing Lena blush to a deeper shade of pink.
"You're going for round two, alright well, hurry your sister is waiting to hear about your final scores over the phone" Kara groaned, Lena squeezed her hand in assurance.
"It's okay, I'll stall so you can have your.. alone time" Maggie wiggled her eyebrows, sprinting out before she was met by a pillow in the face.
