"Ms. Luthor, you really should stay home today" Her assistant scolded her as she caught sight of her walking in.

"Why would I?" Lena asked with confusion, completely oblivious.

"It's your birthday, you should treat yourself at least once"

"It's just another day, Jesse" Her assistant promptly rolled her eyes at this, though with a playful smile "Plus, every male in this city isn't going to stop harassing me about how I'm making more money and success than them, just because it's my birthday" She chided, as she walked into the elevator up to her office.

Her assistant only shook her head in amusement, her boss was quite a handful. Though she was the best boss Jesse could have.

Without Lena noticing, it was already lunch time. Though, paying no attention to the time, she continued her large amounts of work that was required.

On the opposite hand,Kara had noticed and was already at the front desk with food in hand.

"Kara, Ms. Luthor will be happy to see you" Jesse, fond of Kara, smiled hoping she could convince Lena to stay home.
"Though, Ms. Luthor should be home" she rolled her eyes, though her smile dropped at Kara's concerned attitude for her girlfriend.

"Why? What happened?" Kara rushed over to the desk.
"Is she sick? The flu, there's a stomach bug going-"

"No, Kara, nothing to worry about it" Jesse quickly calmed the girl down, who let out a sigh of relief.

"Then, what is it?" She asked curiously, cocking her head.

"Well.. it's her birthday today, and I just thought she should stay home" Jesse shrugged, blushing as she realized that this might be information Lena wouldn't want to share.

"It's.. Lena's birthday?" Kara asked dumbfounded, guilt crashing onto her. How could she not remember Lena- her GIRLFRIEND'S birthday. Especially when Lena remembered hers!

Kara continued to scold herself in her head as she made her way up the elevator, until her body instinctively was already knocking on the door.

"Who is it?" A cold tone monotonous tone spoke from the other end, sounding a bit agitated, most likely because Jesse didn't tell her Kara was coming up.

"It's Kara" Kara spoke quietly, feeling a bit scared from her tone. Though she chuckled as she heard Lena instantly jump up from her chair and run over to the door.Opening it with a flushed smile.

"Kara!" She breathed out, the two still as in love as the first days. They have been together for almost a year, and both have set plans for staying with one another for a long...long time.

"I-um.. I brought potstickers, and some other food for you" Kara blubbered out. Lena took her hand with a smile, leading her to their usual spot on the couch. The two taking routine in eating and talking of their day.

Kara left, she opened her mouth to mention the birthday, but got a better idea.

"Lena?" She asked softly before leaving.  Instantly, Lena turned around.

"Yes?"

"Do you.. would you mind" Lena chuckled as Kara rephrased her sentence multiple times "Would you mind coming to spend the night.. unless you have plans then-"

"Kara, I've been to your house a million times, I practically live there" Lena laughed as Kara's cheeks flared up.

"I know, I just still feel the need to ask"

"I know" Lena chuckled cupping Kara's face before giving her a peck on the lips "and I love it"

"Is that a yes?" She asked, pouting as she saw Lena glance at her workload.

"Yes, I'll be there as soon as I finish work" Kara groaned, knowing that wasn't going to be anytime soon.

"Please don't be late, I.. I really miss you." Kara did feel a bit guilty for pulling that card, but she would make it up later.
"We'll have fun tonight, I promise"

"What type of fun?" Lena raised an eyebrow, laughing as Kara blushed mumbling about how 'we can do that too'.
"I'm just playing, love,I'll finish early, I'll be there at 5:30."

"Promise?" Kara gave her puppy eyes, fiddling with Lena's expensive necklace.

"I promise" she kissed Kara's forehead before sending her off with a smile.

Kara made sure to obey whatever Ms. Grant wanted, admittedly using her super speed to get it finished early so she could get an early start. So as soon as Ms. Grant allowed her to leave early before Kara started gushing about Lena again, Kara quickly made her way home and got a start on baking the cake.

Hours and hours of searching up recipes, and Lena's favorite cake flavor on Wikipedia, a pro of having a famous girlfriend. Kara had some test and trial with each recipe, until finally making a decent enough cake. Decorating it was easy, putting a cute 'Happy Birthday Lena!'  Topped with a heart on the cake, she set it aside with a smile.

She couldn't wait for her girlfriend.

Lena, worriedly glanced at the clock every 5 minutes. She really didn't want to let Kara down tonight. Lena didn't care for presents or cake, Kara was enough for her. Just seeing Kara would make her birthday. She couldn't be late for her birthday.

So at 4:50, she clocked out, hurriedly leaving with a happy 'Bye' to Jesse who replied with a cheerful 'Happy birthday!'.

Soon, she was at Kara's door, knocking. Glancing at her watch, she beamed with pride as the minute hand just hit 5:00. Kara swung open the door with a big smile.

"Lena, wow, your on time" Kara tried to act surprised, as if she kept checking through the door every 5 seconds with her X-ray vision.

"Yeah, I was just so excited about tonight" Lena winked at Kara as she dove in for a peck on the forehead. Kara, flustered, hurried after her once closing the door behind her.
"What's this?" Lena quirked an eyebrow with a questioning look, gesturing to the candlelit table dressed with two plates of her favorite dinner.

"I can't make dinner for you?" Kara shrugged, biting her lip, she wasn't exactly the best liar.

"That's.. Kara,that's so sweet of you" Lena smiled softly, her smile growing with a slight tint as Kara pulled out the chair for her with a cheeky grin.

"You deserve it" you deserve more, Kara thought with a tinge of sadness as she looked at her woman with awe, she couldn't believe she had this beautiful woman all to herself.

"Your staring" Lena chuckled as Kara hurriedly sat down across from her, hoping the fire from the candle hid her blush.

"I hope you like it, I'm not the best cook" Lena snorted, that was a lie. Kara was a good cook, she absolutely loved her food, she could feel the hard work and thought she put into it just from the taste.

The two sat, conversing, and enjoying each other's company. Going over their days, Lena allowing Kara to rant off about her boss and the impossible amount of work 'Even though I'm supergirl' Kara would add in, implying she had full capability of doing all of those things but "chose" not to. To which Lena would just chuckle with a,

"Of course you can"

........

Once the two finished their dinner, Kara took their plates leaving Lena at the table as she set them down and (making sure Lena wasn't looking) lighted the candles on the cake. Quickly, she picked it up, dimming the lights as she walked up to the table with a bright smile.

"Happy birthday to you..." Lena looked over. She was just experiencing a pang of loneliness as nobody (but Jesse) had rejoiced their acknowledgement of her birthday. Though this was everything she wanted and everything she couldn't even dream of.

"Happy birthday dear Lenaaa-" Cut short, Kara was one step away from placing it on the table when it dropped. Kara could only stare at it. Lena began to laugh.

"Oh god, that's a loss" she chuckled, clearly not taking quite note of it. But her demeanor changed as she noticed the tears in Kara's eyes when she looked up.
"Kara," She stood up, Kara moving into her arms and wrapping her arms around her like a child. "What's wrong?"

"I... I couldn't even do anything special for you. And I forgot your birthday, and I'm such a bad girlfriend" Kara his her face in Lena's neck in shame, her tears soaking the back of her shirt.

"Kara, look at me" Lena gently pulled Kara off her enough to look at her.
"You are enough. You are my gift, I don't need anything else"

"But, you remembered my birthday and did a surprise party and all. I couldn't even make a cake or anything and I- Lena you deserve so much more because your so amazing and.." Lena stood in silence, her heart melting as Kara gestured wildly with wide eyes.

"It's okay" she softly spoke once sure that Kara was done.

"I'm sorry" Kara wiped profusely at a stray tear, slightly embarrassed of her easy ability to cry. Lena chuckled, kissing away the salty stains on her cheeks, cupping Kara's face with both hands as she left lipstick stains all over her face.

"Thank you" Lena smiled at Kara, who kissed her fiercely.
