One typical day at the Smash Mansion, Zelda is in her bedroom, looking over the balcony. Not only she is watching the birds fly in the sky, she is also seeing Shulk, Link, Ike, and Marth practicing at the Training Grounds below. Although the four swordsmen are supposed to be training together, that is unfortunately not the case. Due to training (and personal) conflicts, they had started arguing at each other. Apparently, Link was making fun of Marth just because he looked more feminine than before, Ike complained that Shulk couldn't even do 'a better job at handling the sword', Marth insulted Link that 'an elf boy' like him couldn't be a 'better swordsman like himself', and Shulk insulted at the 3 swordsmen that they were all stupid because they 'can't get along better'. Zelda did a facepalm and is highly annoyed that the fact that they couldn't even stop fighting every day. Yeah, EVERY DAY.
Every time when a Smash tournament happens, there would always be a boy that would start fawning over her no matter which Zelda they are referring to. According to her ancestor, the Zelda from the Hero of Time era, when she arrived as a newcomer during the second tournament called Melee, there was another newcomer named Marth. He looked more feminine and many girls were really attracted to him, but Zelda said that 'he wasn't her type'. Then there's Roy, who she really wasn't interested in, but he didn't mind.
Over the next few months, the third tournament called Brawl happened and she took her ancestor's place. There was a newcomer named Ike and he took an interest in her. Heck, he even protected her from Subspace during their ordeal of the Great Maze. However, they soon got over their relationship and moved on due to conflicts. Then there's Pit, and although he liked her, they decided that they simply 'weren't meant to be' and he started to date Peach, which lead to their current relationship.
When the fourth tournament is announced, more newcomers arrived. There is a boxer named Little Mac, but he's already with the Wii Fit Trainer. Then there's a male tactician named Robin, but Zelda decided not to take an interest with him because he is already with a female newcomer named Palutena. Next, there's another named Shulk, who she doesn't know, but they just decided to be friends rather than have their relationship go to the next level. However, there is one of the newcomers she is very interested in knowing. This newcomer that she took interest in is an angel of darkness, who is 'a servant to no other, but himself'.
However, the princess of Hyrule suddenly snaps herself out of her thoughts when the argument between the four swordsmen gets louder.
"For the love of the goddesses, won't they ever stop?"
"Those swordsmen. So pitiful they are," a voice had said from behind.
Zelda turned to see Dark Pit standing by her doorway, since she left her door partly open.
"Oh, hello, Dark Pit. What bring you here?"
"I just happened to pass by. What else?"
"Oh. Sorry you had to hear me."
"It's nothing. So I heard that a group of idiots are annoying you."
"I wouldn't call them 'idiots,' but take a look yourself."
With that, the angel of darkness makes his way for the balcony. Sure enough, he can see the argument the princess of Hyrule had described.
"They can't do better themselves," Dark Pit said.
"Oh really? Are you saying that you can do better than them?" Zelda asked him.
"If you want to know how better I am, I can--"
Before he is to finish his sentence, the argument from the swordsmen in the Training Grounds got so loud that it forced him to halt his sentence. Zelda and Dark Pit looks at the other boys from the balcony and notices that Ike, Link, Marth, and Shulk have increase the fighting tension by not only using their swords, but also throwing at lot of punches swinging several kicks directly towards each other. Zelda, along with Dark Pit, both did a facepalm because the fight with the swordsmen has already gotten their attention and this annoys them greatly. With the argument reaching its limit, the swordsmen immediately drop their weapons on the ground and continue throwing their punches and kicks at each other.
"Take that, pretty boy!" Link yells at Marth, since Link is pulling his hair.
"Ow, stop it, you stupid elf!" Marth snaps at Link by pulling his ears.
"Ouch! What the hell, Ike?!" Shulk said when Ike bit his arm and he retaliates with a knuckle sandwich to the Radiant Hero's face.
"Oof! Wow Shulk, you fight like a girl!" Ike retorts, angering the Monado swordsman even further.
"OH NOW YOU'RE GONNA GET IT!!" the four swordsmen angrily screamed and began to throw more punches and delivering a lot of kicks at each other.
"Oh my..." Zelda said with an annoyed, yet sad sigh.
"I'll show you how better I am if you want," Dark Pit said, finishing his sentence.
"Oh, please. As if you can-"
But she did not get the chance to finish her sentence because Dark Pit pulls out his weapon, his Silver Bow, and jumps off the balcony, leaving the princess of Hyrule alone on the balcony.
"(sighs) I guess I could watch from above," Zelda said.
Dark Pit eventually lands on his feet safety on the Training Grounds. The angel of darkness immediately attacks Shulk all of a sudden, which interrupts the fight with Ike, Marth, and Link. The Monado swordsman groans in pain upon getting hit by the attack and falls on the ground, unconscious. Dark Pit then looks at the other swordsmen with an icy glare.
"Anyone else?" Dark Pit asked them.
"What gives, Dark Pit?!" Marth yelled at the angel of darkness angrily.
"We were training until you ruined it! Thanks a lot, Pittoo!" Link chimed in.
"You shouldn't bump into our lesson!" Ike barked at Dark Pit.
The three swordsmen continue to berate towards angel of darkness. They even call him bad names, also saying that they wish that he shouldn't have entered the tournament, and they begin to shove him in a way that people treat others like they're garbage. Now, the angel of darkness had finally had enough. Anger begins to spark within the angel of darkness and it begins to boil inside of him.
Zelda notices this because whenever this happens, Dark Pit would most likely explode and enter an attacking spree. However, this would make other people, especially herself, Pit, or Palutena to try to calm him down. Of course that occasionally works, Pit or Palutena would sometimes knock out as a last resort. There was also one time when Pit even recommended him to go see anger management, but he simply refused.
"Uh-oh..." the princess of Hyrule said with worrisome.
"OKAY, NOW I'VE HAD IT!" the angel of darkness yells angrily.
Dark Pit suddenly begins to attack the swordsmen in a frenzy. Shulk begins to up regain his consciousness. He, too, was angry that the fact that he was suddenly attacked by Dark Pit. He picks up the Monado as he begins to stand up from the ground, and he, along with the three swordsmen (who also picked up their weapons) begin to attack. As they kept attacking each other, Zelda begins to grow worried even more. She does not want to see anyone, especially Dark Pit, get hurt by a group of swordsmen. The more they continue fighting, the more worried. she becomes.
Should I join in the fight as well? But that could make matters worse...
But she soon snaps herself out of her thoughts when she suddenly sees Ike throwing the angel of darkness straight to a brick wall. When Dark Pit got hit by the wall, he yelps in pain a little and drops to his knees on the ground as he clutches one of his wings. Marth and Ike quickly grab Dark Pit's forearms and starts to pin him on the wall. The angel of darkness struggles himself to break free from the duo's grip but with their strength combined together and the fact that's he injured, it became hopeless and he gives in, much to Zelda's and his own surprise. Link pulls out his bow and an arrow out from his quiver. The hero begins to aim the tip of the arrow on Dark Pit's forehead. Witnessing this horrible act that Link is about to pull this off and the fact that he had never done this before, Zelda is utterly shocked to see this. Shulk it too surprised to see Link ready to pull this off and he begins to lose his willpower to battle Dark Pit.
No! If that arrow hits Dark Pit, he'll be hurt! I have to do something now!
"This should help you know your lesson," he said with an evil smirk on his face.
The injured angel of darkness sighs and drops his head in defeat, knowing that his life is about to be over. Before Link could pull the trigger, the hero is suddenly sent him flying in the air by something from behind and eventually lands on the ground with a thud. Ike and Marth look to see who attacked Link and to their shocking looks on their faces, they see a Phantom in front of them until it disintegrates into nothing, revealing the person who summoned it: Zelda. The two Fire Emblem swordsmen drop the angel of darkness on the ground with shock. Dark Pit is able to stand up straight and regain some of his strength.
"Thanks, Princess," Dark Pit said to the Hylian princess.
"It's okay..." she replied to the angel of darkness with sympathy.
"I'll take care of this fight. You better go now," he said.
"But-"
"Just go! This is my fight."
Zelda sighs in defeat and obliges to his command. Just in case, the princess of Hyrule hides behind a tree to inspect the fight further.
Link begins to regain his consciousness by standing up straight. Already knowing the person who attacked him earlier, the hero picks up his sword plus shield and suddenly charges at Dark Pit angrily. Marth and Ike begin to pick up Falchion and Ragnell respectively and they decide to join with Link in order to take down the angel of darkness.
Realizing that this is a 3-on-1 fight with Dark Pit having no one to stand by his side, Zelda gasps in shock. The princess of Hyrule knows that that the angel of darkness couldn't handle this by himself. Since he already suffered enough injuries from the first half of the fight, he'll end up in the infirmary with critical injuries the more hits he'll take. With no other option left, she uses Farore's Wind to teleport out of her hiding spot and reappears behind Marth. She quickly attacks the Hero-King with her magic attack. Dark Pit stops attacking and becomes surprised to see that Zelda can also fight well, something that he did not know because he never seen her fought in a match before.
"Why are you helping me, Princess?" Dark Pit asked her.
"You can't handle this by yourself, so let me give you a helping hand," she replied.
"I told you, this is my fight!"
"Your fight is my fight as well, Dark Pit."
The angel of darkness sighs and stands next to Zelda back-to-back.
"Alright. Let's take these idiots down!" the angel of darkness said as he splits his bow into two blades.
"Right!" Zelda said as she begins to prepare her magic attack.
"Zelda...I hate to fight you like this," Link said with a bit of sorrow in his voice, not wanting to attack the princess of Hyrule.
"Sorry, Link. But if it comes to ganging up on one person like that, I will not hold anything back about it!"
Shulk is once again surprised, yet dubious to see Zelda attacking the other swordsmen and defending Dark Pit from harm. Since Zelda is his best friend, the Monado swordsman can neither point his weapon at her nor bring himself to hurt her. Surrendering, he begins to put his Monado away and starts to run out of the Training Grounds for Master Hand's office to get help. Noticing Shulk's selfless action, Ike, Link, and Marth immediately glare at his running figure faraway.
"Traitor!" Marth said.
"Coward!" Ike chimes in.
"Chicken!" Link adds in.
"Don't call my best friend that!" Zelda retorts.
Dark Pit begins to engage combat with Link by the blades first and then range attacks with arrows. Eventually, the angel of darkness manages to defeat Link by dodging his melee attack and kicking him from behind, sending the Hylian hero straight into the brick wall and collapse on the ground. With Marth and Ike being the only ones left, Dark Pit glares at the Radiant Hero while Zelda glares at the Hero-King. Both Marth and Ike begin to charge at the two and in response, the angel of darkness picks up the princess of Hyrule from the ground bridal-style.
"Better hold on tight to something, Princess," Dark Pit said.
The angel of darkness immediately jumps high up in the sky while carrying the Hylian princess in his arms. The two Fire Emblem swordsmen did not expect this action to happen in front of them. As a result, the Hero-King and the Radiant Hero end up bonking into each other's heads. The two Fire Emblem swordsmen falls backwards on the ground and groan in slight pain. They quickly regain consciousness three seconds later and begin to look around the Training Grounds. The angel of darkness, along with the princess of Hyrule, are no longer seen anywhere.
"Where did they go?" Ike asked the Hero-King.
"I don't know," Marth replies to the Radiant Hero.
The two Fire Emblem swordsmen continue to search around and were about to give up and leave the Training Grounds...until they are hit by sudden surprise attacks from Zelda and Dark Pit out of nowhere. The princess of Hyrule strikes Ike from behind with a powerful Lightning Kick while Dark Pit did the same thing to Marth at the same time. The Hero-King and the Radiant Hero are sent flying towards the brick wall and collapse on the ground once they are hit by it, signifying their defeat. Dark Pit and Zelda landed on the ground safely.
"Well, that was some fight we did?" Zelda asked.
"Y-yeah..." Dark Pit replies to her exhausted.
They're both exhausted and as they are about to leave the Training Grounds, Dark Pit begins to feel dizzy and suddenly collapses from exhaustion. Zelda is able to notice this and immediately catches the exhausted angel of darkness before he could hit the ground. The princess of Hyrule smiles a little and ruffles his black hair a little.
"You really proved me how you fought and made me proud," she said, smiling.

"(groans) Where am I?" Dark Pit mutters as he begins to opens his eyes.
Dark Pit begins up to sit up straight checks his surroundings. As he looks around, the angel of darkness sees multiple hospital beds and confirms that he is in the infirmary. He notice that the were bandages on his right cheek, his left arm, and on his right leg. He winced in pain a little when he moved around a little. As the angel of darkness continues to look around, he jumps a little when he sees Zelda is sitting beside him with a book titled Odysseus, which the angel of darkness had let her borrow to read the other day. Zelda notices Dark Pit and smiles at him as she puts a purple ribbon on the page to bookmark it for later.
"I'm glad to see you're up," she said to him.
"Yeah, thanks for helping me back there, but you know that I didn't even need your help."
"I didn't want to see you get hurt too much."
"Princess, I appreciate your concern, but-"
"No buts! I know that some people here in the Smash Mansion may treat you really bad and they may hate you about it, but there is no reason you should attack them. You should have know that getting back at them isn't the right answer."
"I don't even know why I was invited here in the first place. I remember Pit-stain begging to Master Hand for me to join."
"Is that how you-"
"Yeah, that's how I got my invite."
"When the days pass by, you'll understand. I have to go now."
Before she could stand up and leave the infirmary, Dark Pit suddenly grabs Zelda's wrist and he pulls her in to embrace her. The princess of Hyrule is shocked at first, but she hugs him back nonetheless.
"Thanks, Princess. I guess I really did need your help."
"No problem, Dark Pit. I'll always lend a hand, even if you don't need it."
"Also, I have something to ask of you and this is gonna sound un-myself there but...will you take care of me until I'm better?"
"...I will. I'll take care of you, Dark Pit."
"For now, ready me a story. How about the one you're reading?"
"Oh. You mean Odysseus by Homer?"
"Yeah, whatever you have."
"Okay," Zelda said with a smile.

For the next few days, Zelda continues to take care of Dark Pit with Doctor Mario in the infirmary. When Shulk told Master Hand what happened back at the Training Grounds, Master Hand got so furious that he suspended Ike, Link, and Marth from battling in any matches for 2 weeks and their punishment was that they each have to write a 5-page apology essay. This angered the three swordsmen, but they just went along with it to anyways to avoid trouble.
Shulk apologizes to Dark Pit, which the angel of darkness reluctantly forgives after Shulk constantly begged for forgiveness, and decides to help Zelda take care of the angel of darkness. Thanks to additional help from the Monado swordsmen and the princess of Hyrule, the angel of darkness is able to recover a week and a half later. After the angel of darkness is released from the infirmary, the three swordsmen turn in their apology essays and they went up to Dark Pit. All three apologize to Dark Pit for almost trying to kill him and he accepts their apology.
"At least I'm not garbage to them anymore..." the angel of darkness said.
