Super Fly - Chapter 3
The rest of the day went relatively smoothly. It wasn't until she got to her locker at the end of the day, did she swear. "Really Terrance? Have you no life?"
Terrance, whose locker was a few down from hers, laughed hysterically. "Bye, Loser. Good luck catching your ride home," he said, giving her another mock salute. Only this time, he made his hand into the letter L when he did it.
Misty looked at her watch and groaned at the time. He had colored her numbers on her dial in with permanent marker so it was nearly impossible to read and therefore impossible to open. She pounded her fist against the locker and regretted her lapse in sanity the moment she had done so. "Damn, that smarts."
Simone had sauntered up to Jacob whose locker just so happened to be across the hall from Misty's. "Hey there, Super Fly."
Jacob flashed her a million-watt smile. "Hey. I thought I'd see you in the cafeteria today at the candy gram table?"
"You're funny, Jacob. A girl receives candy grams she doesn't buy them for herself. Well, unless you're like that sad girl there."
Jacob turned to see Misty kneeling in front of her locker for some reason. Occasionally a curse word would slip past her lips and he shrugged.
He closed his locker, looked at Simone, and said, "Shall we?"
She giggled and said, "We so shall."
Jacob was familiar with the routine when a good looking girl shows up at your locker after school she wants something... and most often times it was a make-out session behind the school. So, that's where they went.
He pulled her close. She smelled so good. She smiled at him and he smiled back before he pulled her a little closer. His hand came up to her face and he leaned in ever so slightly...
"Just remember," Simone said, a moment before their lips touched, "you brought this on yourself."
Jacob thought it an odd thing to say, then kissed her anyway. When their lips touched a tingling sensation coursed through his whole body but not in a good way. Something was weird. Something was off. He pulled away and pain rocketed through his whole form. He came crashing to his knees. The last thing he remembered seeing was the top of her shoes.
Misty had Michael by the hand. They had missed the bus, so she'd have to use public transportation for their ride home. She started marching them towards the bus stop when a girl going the opposite direction bumped into her.
"Sorry," Misty said, and the girl laughed.
"I bumped into you. I should have watched where I was going. I'm just running a little behind and so was rushing. Sorry." As she said this, the girl hiked her school bag back to her shoulder. Misty took note of a ring she wore. There was that symbol again.
"Uh, by any chance did you drive to school today? Some creep messed with my locker and now we missed our bus. I know it's a lot to ask. You don't even know me. So, totally feel free to tell me to get lost... but if you did, could I beg a ride home?"
Simone smiled at her. "I did drive, and it's not a problem. Follow me."
Misty felt her whole body flood with relief. She so needed to be home by 4 pm and now she'd have a chance to make it.
Simone chatted away amicably on the way home after she had gotten Misty's address. They were there in no time flat.
"Well, this is you, I believe," Simone said, letting them off at the front door. "It was nice meeting you, Misty."
"Same here and thanks for the helping hand."
"My pleasure."
