"You won't escape me this time, Luigi!!" The voice of King Boo snapped at him.

Luigi turned to see King Boo was right behind him, chasing him down like prey. His crown glowing purple, levitating a picture frame. The interior of the painting swirling around with color like a portal.

"L-Leave me alone!" He cried as he ran down a dark hallway, trying his hardest not to run into anything. He had no Poltergust or flashlight to help him now. He was completely disarmed. Nothing but adrenaline and speed.

King Boo stretched his long tongue out like a lasso to trip Luigi. When he managed to make him fall on the ground, he laughed in amusement. Luigi tried to back away but to no avail. He was picked up with King Boo's psychic power from his crown.

He tightened his grip on Luigi until he cried in pain, causing him to have trouble breathing. Tears clouded his vision and he gritted his teeth to keep from crying out too loudly. "S-stop!!" He managed to cry out. It only made the king tighten his grip more, threatening to shatter every bone in his body causing him to not be able to keep his cries quiet any longer.

"No... More... Mercy for you, Luigi!! You belong to me now!! And I will do what I'd like with you. I can finally take my revenge on you for all eternity!!"

He then levitated Luigi towards the frame. "N-No!!!" He made one last desperate cry as he tried to get away but the psychic power holding him only made it a weak effort. King Boo laughed at him before striking him with the portrait frame.

"Let me out!! Let me out!!!" His muffled cries continued through the painting.

"Let me out!! Please!! Let me out!!"

"Luigi!! Wake up!!! Snap out of it!!" Lightning's voice reached him as his cries continued.

He woke up with a sudden gasp. "WAHHHH!!" Luigi cried, as his eyes shot open. He covered his face with his paws and trembled, covering his teary eyes with his hat.

Lightning put a paw on his shoulder. "Luigi? Are you okay? You were having a nightmare..."

He looked up for a second from hearing her voice, seeing the face of a concerned female Pikachu. He looked back down and quivered. "N-No... I'm not... I-I had that dream again..." he mumbled, covering his eyes again with his hat, trying to hide his tears.

"Again? What Dream? Do you want to talk about it?" Lightning asked curiously.

Luigi didn't answer. He just continued to cry and tremble.

Mario approached his upset little brother. "Luigi... Look at me.. It's okay. You're safe. Nothing's going to hurt you. Come on Weegee!" Mario told him reassuringly, moving his brother's hat from over his eyes.

He saw Luigi's face wet with tears. He gently rubbed the tears out of his little sibling's eyes and gave him a small smile to show that everything was okay.

Luigi looked at his older brother's blue eyes and sniffed.

"What happened, bro?" Mario asked, patting the top of his forehead softly with one brown paw.

"I-I had that nightmare w-where King Boo trapped me in a painting again..." he answered, sullenly. As if explaining a similar dream that happened recently. In fact, it was one of the nightmares King Boo gave Luigi right before the attack in the Last Resort hotel. Where he was chased through a dark hallway but instead of escaping down the laundry chute like he actually did, he was captured.

"Ohh... It's okay Weegee... Don't think about it. You'll be okay. I won't let anything harm you." Mario promised hugging Luigi tightly.

"Th-thanks Mario. And you too Lightning..." Luigi replied with a small smile, rubbing a single tear from his eye.

"No problema, Fratello" Mario said before his stomach growled.

Lightning giggled. "I suppose it's time we look for something to eat, huh?"

"Food?! I could eat!" Mario replied, causing Luigi to snicker.

"Alright come on you two. Just stay close. I don't want anything bad to happen to any of you." Lightning responded. She peeked out of the rock shelter to see if anything strange was going out outside in the Pikachu Village. Everything was normal and the village was safe. She stepped out of the shelter and the two Eevee brothers followed her.

They were walking through the forest looking for berries. Lightning and Mario walked beside Luigi so he would feel safe but he still had a cautious and timid look on his face, still trembling and feeling uneasy. Lightning couldn't help but feel bad for him. "He really has been going through a lot lately... I wished I could do something for him to make him feel safer..." she thought to herself.

As they walked Mario noticed a little Kecleon Shop selling a sudden TM. TM25 Thunder. Selling for 50 pokècoins.

"Hey Lightning!" He called out.

Lightning stopped and turned to him. "Yes? What is it, Mario?"

"Look!" He told her, pointing at the TM.

"A TM for Thunder? A Technical Machine?" She then sighed and shook her head. "I don't know Mario... Those type of things are just a cheat for Pokémon to learn new moves easily. I don't know about you but I'd rather just learn it naturally. I'm not the type of Pokémon who wants to learn how to use a move that way. I'm sorry... if it's a move that's difficult for a Pikachu to learn normally then maybe but Thunder is not one of those moves."

"Oh! I understand!"

"Thanks anyway, Mario. I know you are just trying to help me out. I appreciate it!" She smiled at him and Mario smiled back.

"They do sell berries at Kecleon Shops but I'd rather just hunt for them in the wild since they don't cost anything unless you want something? I have 17,000 Pokècoins at the moment. The Starter Squad pays pretty well and I also tend to save up my money but if you want something I can buy it for you."

"Hmm... I'll look into it later. For now, let's just go find some berries." Mario decided. The trio then went on their way.

A while later, they found a Pecha Berry bush and started picking a dozen of them.

"Pecha berries are very sweet but they can also heal poisoning so we should take some with us as well. They could be useful for our journey." Lightning explained.

Mario nodded before putting a whole one in his mouth. Lightning looked at him with wide eyes. "Uh... you better chew that..." she told him with concern.

Luigi tried to hold back a laugh. Lightning gave him one but he declined at first. "No thanks... I'm not that hungry now, maybe later. I can't eat when I'm nervous..."

"Luigi, you should eat!"

"W-well if you insist I guess I'll try..." he took it and slowly took a bite of it. And not long after, he took a few more bites until it was gone. "Thank you" he replied.

Lightning smiled and nodded while she ate one for herself.

By the time they were done, they had half of dozen left due to Mario pretty much engulfing all the berries.

When they were about to continue on their way, Lightning heard something in the darkness. Her ears perked up in alarm and she looked in the direction where it came from. Not too long ago, she saw two glowing red eyes staring at her.

The dark figure in the shadows seemed to be hanging from a tree stalking them. She didn't think much of it until a vine came from the figure and wrapped around Luigi's back leg, causing him to lose his footing and fall to the ground. The vine then started to violently pull him away. Luigi tried to pull free and get away but the creature pulling him into the darkness was stronger. "Help!!!!"

Another vine came out from the shadows going for Mario next. However, he managed to jump over it and used iron tail on the vine that attacked him and slashed the vine that grabbed Luigi. The creature screamed in pain and unwrapped the vine around Luigi's hind leg and moved back into the darkness.

Mario helped his brother get back to his feet. "Are you alright, bro?"

"I'm fine. Thanks Mario!"

Lightning charged an electro ball to use as light to see if she could figure out who attacked them. "Who are you? And what do you want with my friends?!" She called out.

The dark creature didn't answer. Instead it unwrapped itself from the tree it was hanging from and stood up. Lightning squinted her eyes , trying desperately to see in the darkness.

Lightning threw her electro ball at the mysterious figure in the darkness and it collapsed in front of her.

The creature in front of her resembled a Venus flytrap that had sharp spiky looking teeth. It had a yellow stem with green spots, and red and green vines beneath with the appearance of tentacles which was what it used to hang from the tree and attack the brothers. The only thing that seemed odd about it was the shadowy aura substance that surrounded its entire body.

"Is that a Carnivine?" She questioned. "But it looks so different?"

"What do you mean, Lightning?" Mario asked.

"I've never seen a Carnivine or any Pokémon look like this before."

"You've never seen a Pokémon look like this?! But aren't you from this world? Shouldn't you be able to figure it out?" Mario questioned.

"I might be from this world but there are things that even I don't know about it, Mario. This is new to me as well." Lightning argued.

"B-but whatever it is... It's being corrupted by some sort of dark power and I don't think it's the work of King Boo either. But what I also don't understand is why did it go after us?" Luigi spoke up, confused.

"I'm not too sure... But being corrupted by some sort of dark power does make sense. It seems to have a shadowy aura around it, almost like it's a..."

"...A Shadow Pokémon" a sudden voice interrupted.

"A what? Who said that?" Lightning asked.

"Don't be alarmed, Pikachu. It was me." A spirit of an Espeon appeared in front of them.

Luigi jumped in alarm. "I-it's a ghost!!!" He screamed, hiding behind a nearby tree.

"Relax, Young Eevee. I'm not here to cause you harm. My name is Clairvoya."

He slowly walked out from behind the tree. "W-wait! Clairvoya? Did you just say your name was Clairvoya?! H- how is that possible? I thought..." he cut himself off and just shook his head.

"I don't think we've ever met. But I think from your tone of voice that you may have mixed me up with an old friend of yours from a long time ago that shares the same name as me."

Luigi slowly nodded in surprise.

"Hmm... You must be the two Eevees that we have been looking for."

"We? W-what do you mean we?" Luigi questioned, trembling.

As if to answer his question, eight Eeveelution spirits surrounded them, making Luigi even more uneasy. "S-stay back!! Stay back!!! G-get away from me, g-g-ghosts!!" Luigi shouted, noticeably trembling.

"Excuse my little brother but he's timid and has a fear of ghosts. Surrounding around him like this is frightening him."

"O-oh we humbly apologize for that little green Eevee. We didn't mean to frighten you with your phasmophobia, poor little darling." The Sylveon spirit said calmly, patting his head lightly with one of her ribbons. Before all eight of them backed away to give them some room.

"My name is Lydia. The other spirits are Biff the Jolteon, Neville the Vaporeon, Nova the Flareon, Darklight the Umbreon, Sakura the Espeon, Petunia the Leafeon, and Weston the Glaceon." She introduced. "I'm sure you were already introduced to Clairvoya."

Clairvoya nodded.

"This is strange. How come most of them share the same name with spirits I met in the mansion in Boo Woods long ago? Are they similar to their Portrait Ghost counterpart in a way? Are they related? Were they somehow brought into this world? I'm so confused...."Luigi thought to himself. He was then knocked back into reality after Lightning cleared her throat and stepped forward. "I don't mean to be rude and interrupt your name introduction but you said this Carnivine is a Shadow Pokémon?"

Clairvoya then came to a realization from that question, realizing what she should have mentioned before. "Oh! Yes! This Carnivine is one of the many members of the foul Dark One. A well known enemy for Eevees and Eeveelution villages. I am surprised that you didn't know."

"Oh! Wow! Someone that knows some good information." Mario commented. Lightning rolled her eyes in annoyance and crossed her arms in frustration before looking away, annoyed from his comment.

"So that must be why it attacked Mario and Luigi then." Lightning said.

"Yes. The Shadow Carnivine was probably sent by the Dark One to capture your friends and bring them to him." Clairvoya replied.

"But what would he do with them?" Lightning asked.

"You don't want to know! Trust me!"

"I did ask the question. I deserve to know!" Lightning almost snapped at the Espeon spirit.

"Well, if you insist. He plans to corrupt them with his dark power just like this Carnivine and turn them into a Shadow Pokémon, forcing them to use their special ability to serve him and fight in his army in order to conquer all of the Eevee territories. All just to aid him in being able to create his empire of darkness and Shadow." Clairvoya explained.

Lightning gulped. "Oh... That doesn't sound good..."

"N-no it doesn't. It really doesn't. That sounds really bad." Luigi replied.

"We won't let that happen though. We will not give in!" Mario spoke up, determined.

"Easy for you to say bro. You're more confident than me." Luigi sighed.

"Well in order to keep you safe, I suggest you follow us. It's a long walk to Eeveeville but there is someone who is waiting to meet you there. I am sure you are the ones we are meant to look for." Sakura said.

"You need to stay close to us. And be aware of your surroundings. More Shadow Pokémon are probably out there looking for you and could be near us at this very moment." Clairvoya added.

"I suppose you are right. We'll come with you if it's for our safety." Lightning responded.
