The Shadow Butterfree was clearly not happy that Lightning interfered to save her friends. "You all don't know when to quit do you?!"

"We never do!" Mario replied. "We will keep fighting until we win no matter how many times you try to bring us down."

The Butterfree fluttered up in anger. "Get this through your thick skulls here and now! You have no idea what power we Shadow Pokémon possess. We have way stronger powers than you silly normal Pokémon such as yourselves can use. I'd suggest you yield now or you will all end up dead!"

"Never!! We would rather die than surrender to you!" Mario shouted back.

"Imbeciles! You are a bunch of imbeciles!!" The Butterfree screeched. The Shadow Butterfree and Vikavolt regrouped with the Lucario and Venusaur. "Let's show them the true power of Shadow Pokémon with our unique attacks and abilities!"

"Uh oh... That doesn't sound good..." Luigi trembled.

"Relax Luigi, we can take them," Mario reassured his brother, even though he wasn't too sure himself about what they were planning.

"Brace yourselves, Mario Brothers! You too, Pikachu!" Faith warned.

"What are they up to?" Lightning asked.

"They are preparing to use Shadow moves." Faith answered.

The brothers and Lightning gave Faith a questionable look. "Shadow moves?"

"They are moves  that only Shadow Pokémon use. It allows them to use the power of the shadow aura that corrupts them. They are very powerful moves." Faith explained.

Finding out about this information rocked Luigi to the core that he started trembling and whimpering. Mario put a paw on his little brothers shoulder. Luigi turned and looked at him with frightened eyes. "It's okay bro. You're with me. We just have to stay together and we'll overcome this." Mario told him calmly. Luigi knew he was only trying to comfort him. He gave Mario a small smile in response.

Mario smiled back at him, before facing the Shadow Pokémon with determination on his face.

The Shadow Butterfree's shadowy aura began engulfing her and her eyes became pure blood red again. A shadowy barrier began to surround the battle field.

"Wh-what is this?" Luigi questioned with wide eyes.

The Butterfree laughed. "Hee hee hee!! You fell into my trap! Now there is no escape for you! You are trapped within my Shadow Hold! It is time for you all to go to sleep at long last!" She then used Sleep Powder.

"Oh no!" Lightning gasped.

Faith jumped in front of Lightning, Mario, Luigi Krystal and Amethyst and stirred up a Fairy Wind attack. The powder was sent flying right back to the sender's side of the battle field, finally putting the crazed Butterfree to sleep instead. The Shadow Venusaur was not fazed by the attack being a Grass Type Pokemon. The Shadow Vikavolt managed to fly to the side to avoid it since the Shadow Hold didn't effect their side. The Shadow Lucario also managed to run behind a nearby tree to dodge it.

The Shadow Butterfree wasn't too much of an issue. They just had to take care of the Shadow Vikavolt, Lucario and Venusaur. They were finally half done.

The Shadow Lucario noticed that three of his Shadow troops were out but he would not back down. "WE WILL NOT SURRENDER TO A BUNCH OF TROUBLESOME POKEMON THAT WILL NOT GIVE UP!!! SHADOW POKÉMON ARE FEARED AND WE GET WHAT WE WANT OR YOU WILL ALL END UP BEING TORN APART!!!" He shouted with a sinister grin plastered on his face.

Luigi took an uneasy breath and slowly and shakily replied, "D-don't you think that's a b-bit too grim...?"

"YOU LITTLE WEAK AND HELPLESS WIMP!! YOUR TRUE STRENGTH IS BEING HELD BACK FROM YOUR COWARDLY NATURE!! HOW ABOUT YOU GROW UP AND LEARN HOW TO BE MORE USEFUL!! WEAKLINGS WILL NEVER SURVIVE IN THIS WORLD!!!" The Lucario growled.

Mario stepped in front of Luigi, glaring at the Lucario, a boiling anger inside of him made his body heat up and glow red. "My brother is not a weakling!!" He then unleashed a large Flamethrower at the Lucario who was immediately grazed by the attack.

"M-Mario..." Luigi sighed. "He always steps in and defends me from insults like this... I just hope it doesn't get him into trouble again..."

As if Luigi's thoughts were heard out loud, it became what was going to happen. When the smoke cleared, the Lucario was on one knee with dark ash covering his whole body. He shook them off and looked up with angry glowing blood red eyes at Mario. His raging stare penetrated into Mario's own soul almost making him shudder from the intimidating stare. "You shouldn't have done that, Hothead!"

The Lucario seemed to have changed its appearance a bit that Lightning seemed to have noticed right away from the surprised look she was giving the terrifying Shadow Lucario. His cream fur became longer, and he had developed more spikes on the back of his paws and feet which have turned from black to crimson red. His aura-sensing appendages grew longer with crimson tips. His shoulders even had grown spikes. His powerful aura was radiating even stronger than before.

"H-he Mega Evolved?! How?! I didn't even see a Mega Stone?!" Lightning cried in alarm, completely surprised. "Mario, Luigi, be careful! Mega Evolution makes a Pokémon stronger and if you add his aggressive Shadow Pokémon DNA that will make him stronger than any normal Mega Pokemon."

"Don't let him hit you! One foul strike can leave you knocked out or worse... kill you! It can even cause you to lose your evolution. One very strong attack like that could knock the evolution stone out of your body and you'll be vulnerable as an Eevee! This could be deadly!" Faith warned.

The Lucario quickly rose up and roared an ear piercing battle cry. The Mega Shadow Lucario wanted to battle!

"Amethyst! Krystal! You handle the Shadow Vikavolt and Venusaur. We'll take care of this crazed Lucario." Faith ordered.

"On it!" Krystal replied.

"Understood, ma'am!" Amethyst retorted.

"Prepare to fight, Mario Brothers and Lightning. This is going to get ugly." Faith told them. The Sylveon gritted her teeth in anger before making a fighting stance. Mario, Luigi and Lightning did the same as they all stood their ground.

The Lucario took the first move. He ran forward while charging an Aura Sphere attack. He unleashed it at the Mario Brothers, who swiftly jumped to the side to dodge it. He roared in exasperation when he noticed his attack missed its targets. He quickly turned his head to face Luigi who looked at him with wide fearful blue eyes.

The Lucario lunged at him, and started to give chase. His body was surrounded by his dark shadowy aura. He was attempting to use Shadow Rush— a Shadow move similar to the move Tackle, only it was much stronger and causes damage to the user, and his target was Luigi! "Ahh! M-Mario!" Luigi stammered when he noticed he was giving chase and scurried away.

Mario gasped in alarm. "Luigi! Hang on!" His body becomes surrounded in a strong powerful orange aura and he ran towards the Lucario at high speed, slamming right into him. He used the move Superpower, causing an abundance of damage to the Lucario with a Super Effective attack. The Lucario lost his balance and collapsed to the floor. Luigi retaliated by running towards his harasser and attacking with a Double Kick Attack to the Shadow Lucario's face.

The Lucario growled in continuous raw anger. "I'm going to kill you both!!!" He snarled, acting like a rabid animal now. Visible drool dropped from his jaws down to the ground.

Mario and Luigi quickly backed up from the malicious beast but weren't able to get away in time before the Jackal-like Pokémon grabbed the two brothers by their throats, attempting to choke them both at the same time with one hand's might each. The Flareon and Shiny Jolteon struggled to get free with no avail. They gazed at each other with eyes full of panic and worry. Tears from the pain were beginning to cloud their visions when the Lucario's grip only got tighter. "Do you give up?!" The Lucario asked them with a sinister grin plastered on his face.

"N-never!" With that remark from Mario, the Lucario only glared at them as his grip around their throats tightened. "Ack! H-help us..." Luigi pleaded, chokingly.

"No! Let them go, you insane monster!" Lightning shouted. She ran to the Lucario and jumped into the air, turning her tail into iron and slammed her Iron Tail down onto the Lucario's head, forcing him to lose his grip on the brothers and releasing them from his grasp. They fell on the ground in a heap, gasping and coughing for air.

The brothers were now safe but she wasn't done with the Lucario yet however, she bounced off of his  head, performing a somersault in the air, kicking off of a tree trunk of a nearby tree and performing a back flip while quickly charging an Electro Ball and Iron Tail combo move to strike the Lucario again.

The impact caused a lot of smoke to appear. Lightning was hoping that double attack would have defeated the Lucario but as soon as the smoke cleared, it wasn't the case. The Shadow Mega Lucario was still in the fight and more agitated than before. The battle still wasn't over yet.

The Mario Brothers were trying to recover from their coughing fit on the ground. Mario quickly got up to see if his little brother was alright. He didn't care that he went through the exact thing he did. He just wanted to make sure he wasn't too badly hurt. "L-Luigi, a-are you okay?!" He asked concerned, putting a paw to his neck and wincing in pain as he tried to talk.

"I-I'm fine... I'm fine now..." Luigi answered with a slight cough. Mario and Luigi slowly turned to see how the battle was going now.

Faith used a Mystical Fire, unleashing a circle of flames from around her at the Lucario. Only angering him further. "He's one persistent Lucario!" The Sylveon admitted with a sigh.

"This battle has been going on long enough. It has to end eventually or we'll all faint from fatigue!" Lightning added.

"I couldn't agree more," the Lucario grinned before laughing maniacally. "And you'll be the ones to lose!" He slammed a paw down on the ground, causing pointed rock pillars to appear out of the ground and rush towards Lightning. She was nearly impaled by one of the sharp rocks but it did manage to knock her back and she was sent rolling backwards collapsing to the ground.

"Lightning!" Mario and Luigi shouted in unison, but not without having another coughing fit as they did so. Despite being out of breath still, they ran to her side to aid her. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine... Thanks... But are y-" she was cut off when the Lucario was trying to charge an Aura Sphere at them. "Look out!" She warned the brothers. The trio all rolled to the side to dodge the huge blue ball.

Lightning got up on all fours and quickly glared at the Lucario. She had bruises on her body from the Stone Edge attack but she wasn't going to let them bother her. She still wasn't going to give up, especially when her friends needed her help. Her electric sacs in her red cheeks crackled with electricity.

She used Thunderbolt on the Lucario, knocking him off his feet for a moment. He was paralyzed.

Lightning looked back at Amethyst and Krystal to see how they were doing. Krystal was fighting the Venusaur with Ice Beam, freezing him solid and Amethyst was fighting the Vikavolt with Power Gems. Both of the Shadow Pokémon seemed to be getting weaker every minute. Only the Lucario was showing barely any signs of weakness.

"We have to overwork him," Lightning suggested.

"Overwork him? What do you mean?" Mario asked.

"I mean, we have to attack him all at once. Maybe we can finally defeat him that way." Lightning explained.

"But a-are you sure that will even work? This guy's a lunatic! He doesn't seem to ever want to give up," Luigi wondered.

"We have to try. Otherwise, this fight will never end. Just follow my lead."

Lightning charged up an Electro Ball. Mario prepared a strong Flamethrower attack and Luigi was going to unleash a Thunder attack. Faith powered up another Mystical Fire attack.

"Ready?! NOW!!" Lightning yelled. The quad released their attacks at once right at the Lucario. He was going to attempt to dodge but the paralysis caused him to not be able to move.

The attacks all hit their mark but the Lucario was still barely holding on. He was holding a Focus Sash. "One more attack will do it!" Lightning ran forward and used one last Iron Tail. Finally finishing off the Shadow Lucario. He lost his mega evolution, collapsed to the ground and fainted.

Lightning turned to see how the battle with the last two shadow Pokémon were doing. The Venusaur was defeated after a few more Ice Beams from Krystal and the Vikavolt was getting weakened by every Power Gem thrown at him by Amethyst. He noticed that his Shadow Pokémon party were all defeated. He was the only one left standing now.

He looked back at the Glaceon and Espeon in front of him. "You've won this time, but we'll be back! We will get what we want eventually!" The Vikavolt then flew towards the Marowak and put him on his back, and grabbed the Lucario with his front legs. The Butterfree was quickly woken up by an Electro Ball from the Vikavolt.

"Huh?! What?! Wh-what happened, Overdrive?!" The Butterfree asked, waking up with a jolt.

"We lost, Amelia..."

"They have names?" Luigi questioned.

Mario playfully punched his brothers arm softly. "Of course they do," he replied.

"Where's Tempest and Hibiscus?" Amelia asked, referring to the Talonflame and Venusaur.

"Forget them! I can only carry Wendigo and Artemis. I can't take a big Venusaur and Talonflame too. Besides we don't need them anyways." Overdrive answered. "Let's just get out of here now! Report to the Dark One of our defeat. I highly doubt he will be happy to hear of it.."

The four Shadow Pokémon fled from the Eevee Village at long last. Mario and Luigi de-evolved into Eevees before collapsing to the ground again in exhaustion. "Mamma Mia..." they both groaned.

Faith de-evolved as well. "Finally! That's over! Everyone get some rest and once we have our energy back up, we're going to have ourselves a meeting." She declared.

Lightning walked up to her Eevee friends and helped them up from the ground. "Come on, in the den you two. I can't let you sleep out here. Especially after these recent events going on."

"Ohhhh!" Luigi groaned.

"Are you okay?" Lightning asked them.

"Y-yeah we're fine... Just tired..." Luigi replied. Mario nodded in response. "Don't worry, Lightning. We'll be in tip-top shape once we get some rest." Mario ensured her.

"I hope so..." she whispered to herself.

Unbeknownst to them, a certain small purple feline jumped out from a bush before growing into a larger leopard. She ran towards Luigi and pounced on the green-claded Eevee, who was completely unaware of the attack. "Luigi!" Mario and Lightning cried.

"Give us a break already!" Mario shouted, seemingly to no one in particular.

"Leave him alone, Polterkitty!" Lightning yelled.

"Mrrrowwww!" Polterkitty growled in response. She grabbed Luigi by the scruff of the neck, almost violently, which made him yelp. She then broke into a run towards the outside of the village.

"Oh no! She's heading towards the exit with Luigi!" Mario and Lightning chased after her with Quick Attack, hoping they can catch up to her in time.

"Please not now.... I can't lose him now..." Mario thought to himself.

Lightning was on her tail as she tried to knock into the big purple cat's flank. The ghost Liepard kicked Lightning away with one back leg, knocking her down. "Go Mario! Keep going!" She shouted to him instantly. Mario jumped over her and continued chasing the big cat holding his brother. Luigi wanted to scream but he was too tired to really react, so he only whimpered softly. Mario attempted to use a Shadow Ball at Polterkitty but she jumped over it to easily dodge it. Lightning caught up to Mario's side. "She's getting closer to the forest! We only have one more chance to stop her before she's out of the village."

"Then what do we do?" Mario asked, out of options at that point.

"I'll use electro ball and you try another Shadow Ball." Lightning suggested.

"But the Shadow Ball missed..."

"We have to try! Just follow my lead," Lightning replied, charging an Electro Ball. Mario charged his Shadow Ball. "Hold it!"

"NOW!" she released her large electro ball and Mario released a large Shadow Ball. Both attacks fused together into an Electro Shadow Ball. It was too large to easily avoid it so the Liepard was hit.

"Meowwww!" The Liepard groaned. She released her hold on Luigi before de-evolving into a Purrloin and running off into the forest, leaving Luigi behind.

"That was a close one..." Mario sighed in relief. He ran to his brother and helped him up. "Are you okay, bro?"

"I-I've been better. The back of my neck hurts but it'll heal. I don't think it's too bad..." Luigi told him.

"I hope so..." Mario's ears fell flat. "B-but I almost lost you, Weegee..."

"We had a rough day today... But I'm still here, bro... don't worry. We get through the tough things together, right bro?"

"You got that right!" Mario bumped paws with Luigi, perking up a bit. Luigi smiled and wagged his brown bushy tail.

"Alright, let's get into the den before anything else can happen." Lightning told them.

The brothers nodded in agreement and went into the den. "I'll go get some berries from the berry pile, I'll be right back!" She shouted to them before running to the berry pile to pick up some berries.

She noticed Amethyst carrying Shade to the Healer Den with Psychic. "I hope Shade recovers quickly." Lightning said.

"I'm sure he will. Don't worry!" Amethyst replied with a smile.

Lightning picked up a few Oran Berries and Sitrus Berries from the berry pile before going back to the den with her friends. "I got some berries that will help you gain your strength back quicker." She told them.

"Thanks Lightning. We appreciate all the help," Mario thanked. He gave out a yawn signaling that he was tired. He took a Sitrus Berry and ate it quickly before laying down to finally get some sleep. Luigi did the same and instantly fell asleep in seconds, laying down on his Polterpup companion. "Night night..." he muttered.

Lightning chuckled softly. "Night..." Lightning was about to head to sleep her self, but something was bothering her. She was worried about the well being of her friends. Ever since they got there, they had to fight for their lives multiple times and they haven't even been there for that long. "This is much more serious than I thought it would be..." she whispered to herself. "They don't deserve this... Why do they have to endure all of this..."

Finally got to finish this chapter. This chapter is a bit longer than the ones written up so far. And from now on, they will start being around this long. I plan to make this story a long one so stay tuned to see what will happen next. I have a lot of plans for this one.

I did think that I would make the Evolution like a power up, that if they take a very hard hit they could lose it. Which I thought would be a nice detail. Polterpup, E. Gadd and Gooigi will get more attention soon. Will the brothers ever feel safe being in Eeveeville? Is there something special about that Shadow Lucario? What does the Dark One want from the Mario Brothers and what is he up to? What is he planning to do to them if he managed to capture them?
