Meanwhile at Eeveeville, Lightning was catching up with her friends, Amethyst the Espeon, her mate Shade the Umbreon and his sister Krystal the Glaceon. Mario and Luigi were safely and not too far away in front of her where she could easily keep watch on them. The brothers were walking around the village, curiously looking around where they haven't been before. Lightning and her Eeveelution friends made sure they were with them at all times and didn't wander off too far.

She knew the three Eeveelutions from adventures long before she joined the Starter Squad. Now they lived as residents in Eeveeville for a few years. They were quickly welcomed into the village by Faith, who easily sensed they were not a threat to their home. Deep in their hearts, they really did miss Lightning and her own village so seeing her again made them happy. "So... Lightning, how is the Pikachu Village going ever since that crazed Infernape enemy died and you joined the Squad?" Krystal asked.

"Oh... We're doing great. Now that the village feels more safe but we still have that Blaziken and his comrades to deal with. Ever since that attack on Arceus from Arson, the other deranged Infernape in a black cloak and his other companions, he managed to escape the Starter Squad after the fight but they haven't tried anything else sense those years ago. I'm unsure if they just gave up or they are planning to strike when we least expect it." Lightning explained.

"I hope they don't and they just gave up." Shade replied.

I hope so too but after nearly taking down the Alpha of all Pokémon? Our God of this world! I don't think they would ever think of just giving up. I wish we knew where they were now but without any clue or any sighting of them for years, it's like they disappeared without a trace." Lightning said.

Mario overheard the conversation and decided to intervene then. "Knowing villains especially my nemesis, Bowser, and Luigi's nemesis, King Boo, I don't think they would just give up like that. If they pulled off a huge scheme, they are bound to be thinking of another one. I don't know when and where exactly they will strike again but it can take years before they think of doing something else."

Luigi nodded. "King Boo was actually put in a painting himself the first time he was captured then the Professor made the mistake to sell his portrait in a garage sale. Hellen could have seen King Boo's painting, easily bought it and managed to get him out of the painting and that's when he later knew about the Dark Moon in Evershade Valley and blasted it out of the sky so he could take control of the ghosts there."

"Atleast King Boo didn't know that you had a house of your own or who knows what would've happened if he did or if you were in Toad Town with me," Mario replied to Luigi.

"Yeah... Good thing!"

She then remembered something and gasped. "Speaking of my village, I don't think I told them where I went! They must be worried sick!"

"Well you can't leave your friends behind so you can go home and tell them now. What if something happened. You know about King Boo far more than we do," Amethyst replied.

"I know. I wouldn't dream of leaving them here when they need me most." Lightning told her.

"Maybe we can tell Phoenix and Fauxe to send a message to them. They live with their flock in a tree here. Eeveeville are good friends with the Fletchling and their evolutions because of their cousin, Spitfire. We'll take care of that for you!" Amethyst offered.

"Thank you so much Amethyst! I appreciate it if you did that for me!" Lightning smiled. She waved goodbye to her three Eeveelution friends and moved on with the brothers.

"Your friends are very nice, Lightning" Luigi told her.

"They are. You both remind me of them too. You're kind, protective over your friends and family, helpful, and adventurous." Lightning replied.

"That is true," Mario replied with a grin.

Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched in the bushes. They were caught completely off guard conversing to each other that they didn't notice a Psybeam come out of nowhere and grazed Lightning's side, pushing her away from the brothers with a strong force.

"Ow..." Lightning winced in pain. "W-where did that come from?!"

She shook the pain off and noticed that a bunch of purple auras surrounded the Mario Brothers.

"Oh no... Guys, hang on!" Lightning shouted.

Luigi was already panicking. "What's going on, Mario?!"

"I don't know, Luigi, but stay calm. We'll get out of this! We'll fight if we have to!" He then turned to see Lightning standing out of the circle.

The purple auras surrounding them then materialized into twelve dark bluish-green ghost Pokémon with long flowing lilac-tipped hair. They used to have red eyes now they were casted over with an eerie purple color. There were several round red gems around their necks resembling necklaces that were glowing deep red with energy.

"Misdreavus..." Lightning growled. "They look like they are being controlled by something strong. It makes sense though because ghost types don't normally attack during the broad daylight. Luigi stay calm! Your fear is only going to give them more strength!"

"I-I'm trying... It doesn't help with the fact that they are surrounding us though.." he trembled, taking deep breaths to try to ease himself.

The Misdreavus stared them down, grinning and laughing mischievously as they did. While they were distracted with the Eevee brothers, Lightning took the chance to use Iron Tail on them, slashing her metallic tail across a few of them from behind. The ones she attacked turned around and glared at her. They attacked her with a barrage of power gems at the same time. Lightning couldn't dodge all of them and suffered a few blows from the attacks.

A group of Eeveelutions: A Flareon, Umbreon, Sylveon, Jolteon, and Glaceon witnessed the attacks and came running forward knowing Faith told them to protect the Mario Brothers if anything happened.

"Get out of here intruders!" The male Flareon shouted, using ember on the Misdreavus.

"You are not welcome here! Leave our kind alone!" The female Umbreon retorted using Dark Pulse.

"We'll help you and your friends, young Pikachu, you are not alone here." The female Sylveon told her. She used Moonblast on the opposing Misdreavus.

One of the Misdreavus closest to Luigi grinned mischievously looking at him right in his sapphire blue eyes before making a loud screeching sound that made everyone in the area cover their ears. It only made him more nervous and caused him to whimper and shake in fear. The Misdreavus only laughed feeling no remorse as they became more powerful by absorbing his fearful energy.

"Those monsters know that Luigi is timid and they are using him to get stronger... I got to do something." Lightning thought to herself.

Mario then spoke up and turned to face Luigi, using his calm, soothing voice to help him get over his fears. "Hey bro, it's okay... Look at me, don't look at them... I need you to stay calm, Weegee... We'll get out of this, I promise..."

Luigi was then pulled into a calming embrace from his older brother to help him feel less anxious. The Misdreavus knew it was working and were not having it.

Two of the Misdreavus rose up in the air above the group, glaring at Mario and Luigi with hatred. Their eyes turned a darker purple, about to use the move Lightning was dreading on. Psychic...

"Woah!" The brothers cried out in unison looking at each other in the eyes with worry as the two ghost Pokémon were pulling them away with psychic. Mario tried to keep his hold on Luigi's paws but due to no anatomy in his front paws, his grip was too weak to hang on and he was forced to let go.

"No! Luigi!"

"Mario...!"

The remaining Misdreavus  spreaded out from the circle and faced the opposing Eeveelutions and the single Pikachu. Three of the ghosts used Icy Wind trying to blow them away with a strong gust of cold icy wind. Lightning and three out of the five Eeveelutions tried to hold on tightly. The male Flareon and male Glaceon were not fazed by it. The Glaceon used Ice Beam on one of the Misdreavus knocking it back into another one close behind it. The Flareon used Flamethrower burning two more. The icy wind disappeared and Lightning used Quick Attack to run past the enemy ghost types to reach her endangered friends. She used Iron Tail on one of them, freeing Mario from its Psychic hold. The other, still held Luigi tightly and slowly tightened its grip.

The Misdreavus holding him suddenly spoke up in a unsettlingly deep voice. "Foolish Pikachu! You will not save your little friends this time! They are ours and we will take them to Master King Boo! I would stop trying to hinder us if I were you! You are outnumbered! Give up now or suffer the consequences... IT WILL BE YOUR UNTIMELY DEMISE!!!"

"I-I knew King Boo was behind this!" Luigi spoke up.

"SILENCE FOOLISH HUMAN!!" The Misdreavus replied, glaring at Luigi. "You are lucky our master wants you alive after all you did to him or we wouldn't hold back on ending you too!"

With that response, Luigi swallowed hard and didn't say anything else. Mario glared at the Misdreavus in raw anger. "How dare you speak to my brother like that!" His tail turned into hard iron and he ran towards the hypnotized Misdreavus without a second thought. It didn't even look concerned at all, it just watched Mario come closer with a unsettling smile.

"Mario don't!!!" Lightning shouted but it was too late. He didn't notice the other Misdreavus was right behind the other one waiting for him until it attacked him with a double powered Payback attack. Mario was knocked back and landed on his side on the ground, his tail returning to normal and his hat fallen off and landing on the ground next to him.

"No!!!" Lightning screamed, running towards her fallen red clothed Eevee friend.

"Mario!!!" Luigi cried, his eyes wet with tears from pain and worry for his brother who was hurt again in front of him. The Misdreavus glared at him. "I told you to not talk!!" It yelled, tightening its grip more making Luigi scream.

The scream caused Mario to open his eyes and try to force himself back up to his feet but he quickly collapsed again. "Lu-Lu-I-gi... Pl..ease.. He- him" He struggled to utter before fainting.

"Mario..." Lightning whispered.

She then glared down at the group of Misdreavus. "You'll pay for that!" She used a strong Thunderbolt on the group of Misdreavus. She was furious. Her Thunderbolt all of a sudden turned into more of a rage inducing Thunder attack. When the Thunder dissipated, Lightning collapsed to the ground, electricity still sparking in her cheeks. The Misdreavus then saw what fear looked like in their own eyes and quickly vanished. Luigi, finally free from the Psychic hold, fell to the ground groaning in pain for a moment before fighting the urge to stand and run to his brother and Lightning's aid.

"Mario... Lightning... Wake up... Please... Please wake up..." He pleaded. "Faith! Someone please help!"

Faith and a few Eeveelution patrollers walked out of the Leader den. "Ugh... What happened this time!" Faith groaned noticing Luigi.

"Another attack already?!" A female Leafeon questioned.

"During the day? That doesn't normally happen..." A male Umbreon added.

"Let me help your friends, Green Eevee," The Umbreon in the group that helped them spoke up , she was using Psychic to levitate two Sitrus berries and gave them to Lightning and Mario. In a few moments, they both woke up.

"Thanks... I needed that," Mario said.

Luigi smiled seeing he was okay. "Mario!"

"Luigi?! You're okay! Thank goodness! I- I thought I was going to lose you..." his brother replied, running to him with a hug.

Lightning sighed in relief. "Thank Arceus, you both are okay."

"Lightning! You did the move again!" Luigi told her.

"I did?"

"Yes, it saved us. It got rid of the Misdreavus."

"It definitely looks like it that's for sure," Lightning responded. "But are you alright?! Both of you...?"

"Yeah... We're okay now" Luigi told her. Mario nodded with a smile but his smile then faded when he saw what else was coming.

"...But I think we got more trouble coming our way! Look..." he pointed to 6 shadow Pokémon coming their direction. A Butterfree, Venusaur, Vikavolt, Talonflame, Lucario and Marowak to be exact and they looked menacing.

"Oh no... Shadow Pokémon!" Lightning responded, shaking in fear herself. "This can't be good!"

There was also another enemy that they were not aware of that was stalking them in the bushes again the entire time. A certain purple feline ghost...

Welcome to 2023! Hope I can get some books completed this year and release new ones. I did reference Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon and a teaser of a story with an old character that will have new ones that haven't been shown yet either.

I do want to try to do some Mario game story adaptations of my own eventually this year including my own take on Dark Moon and Luigi's Mansion 3. And Splatoon ones as well. We'll see what I can do. Anyways hope you enjoyed ^U^
