[1] Wish Upon A Star
[Sunday, August 13]
Violet Mario sat on her bed, staring at the laptop in front of her late in the night. She had been enrolled into Super Cat Bell High.
She was pretty shocked. To get in you had to take a test. The test was split up into three parts. English, Math, and Science. And somehow, she had passed all three parts with flying colors.
Her older twin brothers were already in because they were there before her. She was going to be a Freshman, and they were going to be Juniors that year.
Lucky them, She thought, Close to graduating.
Violet continued to stare at the scores she had received from the tests.
"High A on English, not surprised," She mumbled to herself,"Low A on Science and A high B on Math...? How is that possible? I suck at Math..."
She narrowed her eyes and clicked on the refresh button. The grade didn't change. It still stayed as a 89% B.
"Damn..." She muttered.
"Violet, what are you doing up still? It's already eleven, and you're first day of school is tomorrow..." Mrs. Mario hissed.
Violet glanced at her mother. "Just... checking my scores-"
"LET ME SEE."
Her mother pushed Violet over, making the fourteen year-old fall to the floor with a thump.
"Oh baby I'm so proud of you!" She squealed. "Violet what are you doing on the floor? Get up!"
Violet groaned and managed to drag herself up onto her bed. "Thanks Ma..."
The mother hugged her tightly. "You're so smart, just like me when I was your age."
"Ahuh."
"Don't believe me?"
"Oh, I do."
"You better!" Her mother said teasingly.
They both chuckled.
Mrs. Mario sighed softly and got off her bed. "Now, get in bed. Don't want my smart girl to be tired on her first day."
"You're not gonna call me your smart girl for the rest of my life, right?"
"No promises~" Mrs. Mario strolled out of the room.
Violet grunted, but she couldn't stop herself from smirking. She glanced at the scores one last time before closing the laptop and putting it under her bed.
But it wasn't like she was going to get in bed immediately. Oh no. She took out her mPhone and noticed a text from one of her good friends, Princess Rosalina.
Rosalina: You excited for tomorrow?
Violet: Not excited. Scared. And I'm surprised you're still up...
Rosalina: Perfect time to watch the stars. And why scared?
Violet: Makes sense. And I mean, come on. First day of high school, y'know? Weren't you scared?
Rosalina: Yes, but I was even more scared my first day here in the kingdom.
Violet: Ahuh...
Rosalina: Violet, you'll be fine. I know you will. You got your brothers, Peach, and Daisy.
Violet: And you.
Rosalina: And me, of course. Along with Luma.
Violet: And Luma...
Rosalina: That's about, what, six people? Yes, six! You'll be fine.
Violet: But you're all juniorsssss
Rosalina: We'll still see you around, Vio. Now, get some sleep. Trust me, you're gonna need it.
Violet: Yeah, okay. See you tomorrow at the meeting place?
Rosalina: Yep!
Violet: Mkay... night
Rosalina: Night night. And if it makes you feel better, wish upon a star!
Violet: Rosie, that's for little kids...
But the space princess didn't answer. Violet rolled her eyes and put her phone to charge. She then was about to lie down, but something made her want to wish upon a star.
So the fourteen year old got out of bed and walked to the window.
Seeing a bright star, she sighed. "I know wishing upon a start is just things little kiddies do but, hey... maybe it could work."
She closed her eyes. "Please... Let tomorrow be a really good day."
Violet then went to her bed and climbed in, grabbing the blanket to cover herself.
And before she closed her eyes, she saw the bright star twinkle.
Hopefully a good sign.
