"See you later, Sunpaw," Runningpaw called over the noise.

    He watched his brother gaze miserably around the forest before disappearing into the trees. He felt so bad for Sunpaw. Runningpaw was getting the credit for what Sunpaw did!

    Foxpaw, Whitepaw, Rosekit, and Firekit didn't seem to notice Sunpaw's exit.

    "Try it!" Whitepaw urged. "See if you have fire powers!"

    At least I'll be able to prove it.

    Runningpaw turned to the side and waved a paw. Nothing happened and he turned to face them again.

    "See? I have no fire powers," he told them irritably.

    "But you do!" Firekit insisted. "You just can't get them to come out yet. Kind of like Snakepaw!"

    "His- name- is- Sunpaw!" Runningpaw snapped, his anger spilling out. "And he saved your ungrateful lives!"

    Startled, they took a step back.

    "I have no stupid fire powers!" He yelled. "Sunpaw does! You fox-hearted mouse-brains don't even give him a thank you after he saves you!

    "You don't even know his name!" Runningpaw shouted. "You barely know he's alive! Why are you always around me?! He's your clanmate too!"

    "But-" Foxpaw stammered, his green eyes wide.

    "I never want to see you guys ever again!" Runningpaw spun around and raced into the forest. He ran and ran and ran until he arrived at the clearing Sunpaw tried to show him his fire powers.

    He spotted something on the ground and jumped. It looked like a snake!

    His fur flattened. It wasn't moving- a dead snake, perhaps?

    He stepped forward and looked it more closely. It was a blackened, scorched vine.

    He knew there was just a fire, but this vine looked like it was in fire for only a few seconds. And it was laid in the ground where everyone could see it.

    Runningpaw picked it up with one paw. Sunpaw, I miss you so much.
