A play scene and a kiss.

They threw their bags down in the couch, falling next to them in the familiar way they usually did. Virgil sighed, happy his headache was finally clearing up.

"So," Roman said. "Disney movie marathon?"

"It's a school night," Virgil said. "Don't we have homework?"

"So....." Roman looked off into the distance. "We skip the homework and have a Disney movie marathon?"

"No, idiot," Virgil threw a pillow at him. "We do the homework and then stay up till 3am watching Disney."

Roman smiled widely. "You know, this is why I love coming over to your house." He says, pulling out his homework book.

Virgil sighed, also pulling out his homework. "Alright, princey," he said. "Whoever finishes their homework first gets to choose the first movie."

Roman looks at him. "You're on, Emo nightmare."

Virgil smirks, turning back to his homework. He's so glad that most of this was revision work, because otherwise he'd loose. Roman may be fanciful, but he was still pretty good at listening in to Logan's mumbling in class- which gave him a head start, if he could decipher the code Logan used.

An hour went by and Virgil was almost finished with his English, while Roman had moved into Drama and gone into the next room to recite his lines. It was a little unfair, so Virgil had promised to do the extra homework assigned for English, just to give Roman a fair chance.

But it was a little difficult, especially when the prompt for a metaphorical poem was 'I am ____'. And he had to use something physical.

His mind had scribbled several things down: Aglet (the plastic thing on the end of a shoelace), Sword, Flower, grass. None of them seemed right.

Well, aglet worked, but that poem was depressing and Virgil didn't really want to submit something so... strangely personal to him.

He sighed, and scribbled up something comparing him to a flower, deciding to publish that instead. He couldn't be bothered editing it, even if he did re-read it about a hundred times before deciding it was okay.

He drilled into the room Roman's as practicing in. "Boom, done," he says. "How about you, mr. theatre?"

Roman sighed. "I still have to memories for more lines, then I've finished my monologue." He says woefully. "Then I guess you've won?"

Virgil smiled. "Yep," he says. "Don't you have to practice more than once to memorise something?"

"I mean that I'll have gotten the basics down," Roman said. "Of course, I'll still need prompts, but I'll remember majority of it."

Virgil nodded. "Then go right ahead." He said, motioning for Roman to continue as he watched. Roman did so, nervously glancing over at Virgil every time he had to stop.

Virgil could've sat there and watched him reenact the entire play. He was just so... strangely in character for the whole thing. It was weird, but he just adored watching it.

"Who are you playing, again?" Virgil hummed, having gotten so distracted by watching Roman perform he hadn't actually listened to the cast list or the plays name.

"I'm playing..." Roman had to stop and check. "The murderer, Liam."

Virgil nodded. Who on earth was that?

"It's difficult," he says. "I can really only do my monologue alone. But I need an audience for that, so this is my second best resort."

Ooooh, that's why people were being allowed to sit in the audience. Okay, this made a lot more sense now.

"Hey," Roman said. "I need to practice this one scene again, but I need a partner to practice. Do you mind?"

Oh, that was so much more straightforward that Virgil had anticipated. "...sure." Virgil said, taking the script Roman had given him. "Don't you need this?"

"Nope," Roman said. "If I forget a line, we restart. That's my method."

Virgil nodded. Truth be told, he wasn't great at acting, so he didn't know why on earth Roman asked him to do this. His nerves were getting the best of him, making him swallow down the lump in his throat the best he could without choking on it.

Into position. Virgil followed the lines of choreography the best he could with their home made stage and props, up until Roman came on. Roman had reassured him that all he had to do was follow along with what Roman did, taking a step back when he got too close.

And then they had a stage 'safe-sign', which was pulling the finger. Virgil was more tempted to just pull the finger than he was to use it as a safe sign.

-Virgil's P.O.V-

"Where are your little friends?" He asks, smirking. I stumble back, startled, trying my best to match Roman's acting.

"You-" I start, But Roman cuts me off.

"Yes yes, I know," he's so close to me. "I startled you."

"No... you were here the whole time?" I read the line out, then try to act confused. He smirks again.

"Here and there, yes." He says, flicking his finger out as he turns to where the audience would be, that smirk still on his face. I let out a breath.

"I'll..." I shakily breathe in to match the feeling of his scene, a little afraid when he turns to me with a smirk on his face that lights something up in me.

"Arrest me? Oh, dearie me," His voice is laced with sarcasm, letting his whole body go loose in a dummy like mannerism. "I'm so scared."

"Hands..." I point a finger gun at him.

"Heh, as if you'd do that." His hands go up mockingly.

"I will shoot." I say.

"You can't." He says.

"What?" I'm confused, letting g hands fall.

"You can't shoot, cause you know I'm just like you." He's walking toward me with this grin, this... possessive smirk on his face that makes me blush.

"We're not the same, no, far from it." He's closer now, almost close enough for me to feel his breath on my skin as I step back, hitting the desk.

"But you've done things so bad you know that if you even dare to hurt me, I'll let the world know." He's pushing my onto the desk now, and some part of me lives for this.

"Imagine their faces. They'd be terrified." Roman is so close. His voice stings. My mind is racing and I've just realised I have no idea how to act and I can't reach my script.

"Disgusted." He hisses, stepping away to let me off the table. "Besides, the gun's unarmed. I know that."

"I...get out of here." It's so hard to say that line without my voice cracking.

"Why would I do that?" He says.

The rest of the scene plays out normally. He's never as close to my lips or me again. He corners me into the desk but he never gets as close as before. Some part of me wishes he did.

After Roman finishes his monologue off once again, he packs everything up and we settle down on the couch with blankets and snacks to watch Disney.

"It's your choice first," he says, getting out all the Disney movies I own, as well as the few prized ones he'd brought over. "Seeing as you finished."

I hum, wanting to tease him with my answer. "How about..." I think for a moment. "Nightmare before Christmas."

"You always choose that one," Roman put the disk in, starting it up. "It's like part of your soul."

"What can I say?" I shrug, pulling my hoodie together as I zip it up. "It's my bloodline."

Roman chuckles, and it rings in my ears for a few moments before I force myself to forget its melodic sound. "You're so addicted to it, you might as well be it's number one fan."

I chuckle a little, lying back on the couch. Roman's so nice to have around. So soft, warm, content... I can't get over that moment where we were so close we could've kissed. Some part of me wishes we did. This is so confusing.

He sits back, next to me, opening up his arm so I can lie against him in the same way I normally do. I remember De throwing a fit when I did that once and he came over to find me and Roman watching a movie together and... well, doing what we normally do.

He threw a fit over quite a lot of my friends interacting with me. He got upset when I went out for dinner at Patton's house one time, he got upset when Logan invited me to the library and gave me a new book on astronomy, he got upset when Remy gave me a new shirt.... a little more when it came to Remy.

In fact, everything seemed worse when it was Remy giving me affection. I sigh, leaning against Roman as he pauses the movie. "Okay," he says. "What's up?"

I don't know what to say other than sighs again. "I don't know. Everything?"

"Somethings bothering you. Is it De?" He asks, looking down at me as I lie on his lap. He's got a pillow there just for my head.

"Yeah," I say. "I don't know what to do."

"He broke up with you," Roman said. "You could always call him, or text him, or invite him out somewhere to apologise and get back together."

"I don't want that," I say. "At least... I don't think I do. I don't know. I just... we weren't happy. I think he had a massive crush on Remy."

Roman looks a little surprised. "Wait.. really? But he was with you!"

"Yeah..." I bury my head into my hoodie. "I think I kind of just... forced him into a relationship. He was scared to break up with me and get with Remy instead."

Roman takes a moment to process everything. "Well," he sighs. "He did it."

"Yeah." I don't know what to do, or say.

"You didn't deserve him." Roman says. "I mean like- he wasn't good for you. You didn't deserve him because he wasn't the... right one, for you."

I hum. "Did I ever tell you he told me off for doing this with you?"

"Really?" Roman says. "What a douche."

"I think he had a point though." I look up at Roman to find him looking down at me, confused. He must think I'm saying I don't like this- I do. Do I? I think I do. "I think... I think he had a point to telling me off for being this... physical. With you- Wait no. That sounds wrong. Uh...."

"I get what you mean," Roman says. "You think this is a little too physical for platonic."

"Yeah," I say. "That's exactly what I mean."

Roman hums. "I can be less physical if you'd like."

"No! No," I say. "It's just, like, I don't... I don't know if we're platonic anymore. I don't know if I... like you or not."

Roman looks startled. Dammit, that was the wrong thing to say. He probably my hates me now. He probably wishes I was joking. Oh no...

"Well, I, Uh," Roman awkwardly chuckles, blushing. "I kind of hope you do."

"What?" I ask, sitting up and turning to face him. "You... do you have a crush on me?"

"Kind of," Roman says. "But... I didn't want to say anything because you were with De."

I shiver. This is too early, right? But I'm so ready for it. I'm so ready to call Roman my boyfriend, I'm so ready to kiss him and date him and never have to let him go and it feels great compared to what it felt like with De.

"I..." I start. I'm nervous about what others will think, believe it or not. Nervous about how our friends will take it, nervous about the world and what happens if they think I was cheating with Roman the whole time. "I kind of have a crush on you too."

I can't believe I just said that. This is terrifying. Oh gosh. I can't breathe.

Roman puts his hand on mine to ground me. "Hey," he says. "We don't have to be together together. We can just be together."

"That makes no sense, dork," I says chuckling to make me feel better as I wipe my eyes of tears I didn't realise were there. "But I get you."

Roman smiles. "Let's start simple. I'll just hold your hand." He says.

I actually want to kiss you. I think. Cause I'm gay.

"Uh... actually." I say. "Could I kiss you?"

His is probably going to fast for him, but I just want to kiss him so badly. I don't know when I started wanting too, but I just do.

He smiles, and cups my cheek. "Are you sure?" He asks, and I nod. It feels like it's been almost a month since me and De broke up, anyway.

And then his lips are on mine. I almost pull back, thinking it's De, until I realise it isn't because he tastes like chocolate, vanilla and berry. He tastes like Roman. And then I kiss back.

I don't know what else to do. It feels like me and De we're never really together at all. It feels like we were just forcing each other to be really close friends, because I never loved him. Not he way he thinks I did.

Roman breaks away from me, pressing our foreheads together. "This'll be our little secret, then?" He asks. "Until we're ready to tell everyone?"

I smile. "You know me so well, Ro." I say.

Roman chuckles. "I have been waiting forever for this."

(A/N: fun fact, that play scene is form the play I wrote. I just needed a platonic moment where Roman pushes Virgil against a deck. And yeah, that is awkward to choreograph when it's two of your friends and one of them has a crush on the other, but it's not like I'd know anything about that.
