TRACK BY TRACK, with Bianca Taylor

ON a recording of herself on her laptop, Bianca sits on a comfy, maroon loveseat in her apartment. The whole place is themed around vintage Hollywood. Velvet scatters the room with antique mirrors and trinkets, and the furniture is mostly wood. Underneath her feet is a fuzzy rug of faux fur and her laptop rests on an old toybox she uses as a coffee table.

Bianca takes a long sip of the coffee she prepared for herself to calm her nerves. She loves recording her voice. Herself? Not so much.

After she places down her favorite mug—a ceramic one covered with stars, courtesy of her mom before she passed—Bianca takes one deep breath, and presses 'begin' on her recording.

"Hi! I'm Bianca Taylor and this is Traditions, track by track," she says, fighting the urge to flip her hair to the side. "I'll only be doing every other song of the album, so I hope that's okay with you all watching."

Usually, she would be recording this at a Spotify Session, but instead they decided they wanted a more homey-feel to the video, and requested Bianca record it herself.

She doesn't mind, no, not really. She loves her home and loves herself just as much. It's taken her a long time to get to where she is and she's proud.

But, man, if she stutters even once...

"So, to start off, I'll be going over Old Apartment," she begins with a smile. "Old Apartment is actually the ending of the album—or the story for the album, I should say. It's about this girl and she keeps getting flashbacks to her old relationship. Fighting, sleeping in the same bed, regrets, happy moments, all of it." She looks to her left to think, and catches a glimpse of her phone.

Her lips curl into a small smile.

Lando has been listening to her entire discography since this morning. He insisted, since they're playing house as boyfriend and girlfriend. "I should know your songs!" He had said over a short-lived call. "What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't?"

"I wanted to start this album with the sad stuff first," she begins again, looking back up to the camera. "While, yes, in truth, the album is about a couple breaking up, I don't..."

Sell it.

She has to sell the relationship.

"I haven't been feeling heartbreak a lot recently," she says, almost sounding unsure of herself. Confidence, baby. Confidence. "I've been feeling a lot of love and appreciation from," Bianca twirls her finger in the air to search for the right words. "people. My friends, my supporters, my family, strangers who are no longer strangers," she breathes a laugh with her words. She's glad she chose singing over acting. "Starting with the sad songs and ending with the happy ones allows for feelings of hope to shine through."

A vibration to her left catches her eye. She wonders if Spotify is gonna leave these glances of hers in for everyone to see.

She lets loose a small laugh and continues on. "Sorry, someone texted me..." Bianca begins to speak again. "Onto Nightlight, which is probably my favorite of the Side A tracks." She grabs ahold of her coffee mug, and before she takes a sip, she explains, "Nightlight is about the girl reminiscing on her first love; how in every first crush or first relationship there's always a sense of purity and innocence until it gets ruined."

She takes a sip, then continues on elaborating, "Since there's only eight songs on this album, Nightlight is kind of 80% sad and 20% happy. This is one of those songs where the beat makes you think it's happy, but the lyrics are absolute death in a bottle."

She talks about the songs for a while, accumulating enough footage worth 30 minutes.

When gets to the last song of her review, Initials, which she made to be the most lovey-dovey song of the album, she makes sure to drag out her explanation as much as possible.

"Initials talk about knowing exactly what makes your partner tick," Bianca says. "What makes them mad, what makes them happy, what they enjoy, what they don't. It's a simple concept but," she chuckles nervously. "Some people find it very hard to understand! I end the song with the hint that this couple that we've been following through the whole album had gotten matching bracelets with each other's initials on it. It's just," she clasps her hands together. "It's so high school love! It's so pure, and cutesy, and even now, as a 24-year-old, I would die for matching bracelets with initials on them, you know?"

She sighs, and leans forward to the camera with a smile. "We all deserve people who make us feel that way—make us feel pure and excited and happy to just do basic, small things. Make us feel like we're going 200 miles per hour on a track, even if we're just sitting on the couch."

Is it obvious? Sure.

Is it cute? Yes.

Is it true? Well...

She won't lie, it's thrilling to do this whole fake-partnership thing with Lando. He's a sweetheart and she's a sucker for gentlemen who text first (which she is aware is the bare minimum but let her have this,) what more could she want?

For it to be real? Maybe.

But that's not her issue right now. Her issue is finishing this video, and sending it to Spotify without any corruptions or stutters.

She'll be fine.

Bianca will be perfectly fine.
