They come across scents as they traveled further away from their home in their territory. The farther they move, the more Seonghwa's heart aches to be there with his daughter. He hated leaving her with the two strange wolves, but Yunho and Hongjoong trusted them.
And he needed to save Wooyoung.
He can remember having a conversation with Hongjoong as they tracked down their pack members' scents, still a little uneasy about the two strangers.
"Have they ever been in trouble?"
"Not that I know of," Hongjoong answers, eating a bite of deer they caught and were roasting on a fire when they stopped for a break. He sighs, chewing as he looks to Seonghwa, "I've known their head alpha for as long as I can remember. Keonhee and Hwanwoong have watched our children before, and we have watched theirs and the other children in their pack. They are trustworthy in my eyes."
"How can I be sure they won't harm my daughter?" Seonghwa asks, furrowing his brows slightly.
Hongjoong chuckles, "Mingi, remember the time you nearly charged Keonhee for touching Zayden when he tried to go in the woods?"
Mingi chuckles, "Yeah I remember, I also remember you growling at Hwanwoong when Irys was born and she was calm. That is until Hwanwoong held her and she started to scream like she was disturbed."
Hongjoong looks to Seonghwa with a smile, "We all at one point didn't trust them. But over time they persuaded us and we all work together as one. When I say trust me that they won't hurt Wynter, I mean it. They won't harm her."
They set back off shortly after eating, their wolves were exhausted but their pack members were still in danger. The scents were getting fainter the longer it took for them to find them all.
Hongjoong eventually stops and huffs, looking back at Mingi, The scents diverse here.
Sure enough he is right. The trail they were following were suddenly separated. One trail, which still smelt fresh, is supposed to lead them to where Yeosang and Jongho could possibly be. Jongho's scent out of the two was the strongest and almost over lapped Yeosang's. On the other, which is more faint, is Wooyoung's.
Seonghwa lays on the ground, whining as he set his head on his paws. He couldn't even feel Wooyoung anymore. It was like his mate had disappeared into thin air except for his faint scent. And he's not even sure if the scent will lead him to where his mate is.
We should split up, Seonghwa suggests, I'll go after Wooyoung. Before it's too late.
Bad idea, Mingi intervenes, The bears are too strong and is separated is never a good idea in general.
But the scents go two separate ways! Seonghwa growls, standing, How in the hell can we find them without making the other wait too long?
Based off of our knowledge, Hongjoong interferes, Jongho's scent and Yeosang's scents are stronger. They're more fresh. There's a good chance they are closer based on their scents being stronger.
So you're saying that you want to save them first before we save Wooyoung, Seonghwa huffs.
Seonghwa, based on their scent they are closer to us than Wooyoung. With how faint his scent is, there's a good chance they walked for another few miles before they got to their destination, Hongjoong growls in warning, We have a better chance of saving Wooyoung with Jongho and Yeosang.
Seonghwa was hesitant, not loving this idea at all of leaving his mate's scent, it was the only comfort he had from the past two days and it drove his wolf insane and yearning for more. But Hongjoong was right, and he trusted his judgement. He huffs, nodding to the head alpha in agreement.
Hongjoong nods his head back to the other alpha, "Lets go then. The sooner we find them the sooner we can all go home to our pups."
The wolves take off again down the path, Seonghwa hesitates every so often wanting to turn back and run to the other path that has Wooyoung's scent. They suddenly came to a halt when the scent is suddenly gone, they split into different directions to see if the scent trailed off. But they found nothing.
Seonghwa slowly backs away, something in his gut told him to turn around and go after Wooyoung's scent. He turns, running from the others as he searches and back to the trail where Wooyoung's scent was still lingering. Once he got there though, something changed.
He wasn't sure what it was, but something felt off and had changed in the atmosphere from when they left it an hour ago. He advances forward, creeping slowly with his head low as he scents the ground.
Wooyoung's scent was still present, but there's still something there that isn't right...
He heard something snap next to him and stiffens up, but before he can react or even move out of the way, he's launched in the air with a loud yelp. Something envelopes him in a tight space, making him feel even more panicked and suffocated.
His legs were trapped in holes of a large black net, and no matter how many times he struggles and wiggles he couldn't get out of them. The scent changes instantly, and Seonghwa snarls, his eyes searching around him the best he can.
A body was suddenly in front of him, he snarls again as he tries to scratch at the body but he doesn't even touch it. He heard a chuckle, it was deep and it made him freeze.
Hongjoong? He tries to mind link the head alpha.
Silence followed his attempt to communicate. Hongjoong!? Seonghwa mind links again, panicking more as the body gets closer to him.
"Night night wolf boy," the voice spoke deeply, and Seonghwa felt something hard hitting him in the head.
Then darkness consumed his vision.
