When Seonghwa returns from hunting, he drags the deer inside the shelter and notices Wooyoung curled in a ball by the fire on their makeshift mattress, sound asleep. He smiles, and began skinning the deer before putting it over the fire to roast. While Wooyoung slept, he went out and got some water from a nearby creek to drink, and to wash the baby if she were to come tonight.
As he filled the milk gallon jug full of water, his senses tingled and he tenses. Something was wrong. He races back to the shelter house, entering through the small opening he sees Wooyoung leaning against the wall, his face scrunched up in pain. Seonghwa sets the water down by the fire and rushes over to him, placing his hands on Wooyoung's hips.
"I-I think my water broke," Wooyoung whimpers, hissing in pain as a contraction wracks through his back and stomach.
Seonghwa's eyes widen and he looks around, "I-It did?" His heart races as he helps Wooyoung over to the bed, helping him sit down before grabbing the water and began making a stew with a metal pot they had stolen from campers.
The sun went down and it seemed to have grown colder, Seonghwa kept the fire going and made sure the shelter was warm for Wooyoung and potentially their daughter if she were to be born tonight. On one of his firewood runs, he noticed it was starting to snow, his breath coming out in a white fog as his anxiety grew.
Omegas tend to have normal human body temperature and grew cold just as easy as humans. Alphas on the other hand were like a walking furnace. Seonghwa could walk outside in just shorts with no shirt on and not feel cold in the snow. He would have to help keep Wooyoung warm tonight, he knew the other had already mentioned being a little cold even though he sat by the fire and was wrapped in deer pelts.
And newborn babies tend to lose more body heat than omegas.
Throughout the night, Seonghwa cuddles Wooyoung against him and tried to keep him warm as the snow and wind blew harder around their shelter outside. Seonghwa had managed to find a flat wooden plank in the woods and made a door for their shelter for the night to keep the snow and wind out of the house.
It was just pressed against the door with the help of firewood, but it was keeping majority of the wind and snow out and potential wolves and other predators.
When he placed the door up, Wooyoung hisses, whimpering and sobbing as a contraction wracks his body, "Seonghwa."
"I know Wooyoung," the alpha whispers, crouching down by him and holding his hand as he fought through the contraction, "Breathe. In and out like this."
He helped Wooyoung through a couple breathing techniques as the omega finishes riding out the contraction and finally he sighs heavily, "It's over."
"They're getting awfully close Wooyoung," Seonghwa worries, the omega growling slightly.
"I know they are," he snaps, "The closer they get and the shorter they get means it'll be time."
Wooyoung experiences contractions all throughout the night and into the early morning, sleeping through some luckily until they became more intense and cane more frequently. It was midday when the sun was just touching the middle of the sky, he groans, "Seonghwa," he sobs, "I can feel her! I think she's coming!"
Wooyoung was already naked from the waist down, stating they were uncomfortable and he didn't want the fabric messing with his baby's entrance way into the world. Seonghwa had placed a blanket over his legs to conceal himself and to keep him warm, but as he lifts the end he gasps. Their baby's head was crowning and Wooyoung sobs, "I need to push!"
"Go ahead and push Wooyoung," Seonghwa hurries to grab the water he's been warming up by the fire and a small cloth he tore from a sleeve of his shirt to clean the baby off and Wooyoung.
Wooyoung grabs the back of his knees and pushes, grunting which turns into a cry as he pushes. Seonghwa places himself in front of the omega, ready to deliver their daughter. He watches with awe as his daughter slowly comes into the world, her head full of dark hair like his own.
Wooyoung gasps for air after he's done pushing and sobs, "I can't do it!!"
"Yes you can, you're doing so good," Seonghwa coos, rubbing Wooyoung's leg as he pushes it back a little to give Wooyoung some extra help to pushing, "Come on keep pushing!"
Wooyoung cries out and screams as he continues to push, feeling like he's being torn from the inside out as he done so. Seonghwa smiles as his baby girl enters the world, her little head almost out. Wooyoung pants for air as he pushes, sobbing once more, "Pull her out of me please!!"
"I can't do that until her shoulders are out," Seonghwa spoke softly.
Wooyoung pushes again until he felt a sudden pop and gasps, trying to sit up more, "Is she here?"
"No but her head is out!" Seonghwa smiles, tears filling up his eyes as he pats Wooyoung's leg, "You're doing so well Youngie, keep pushing she's almost here! She's so beautiful you need to see her!"
Wooyoung growls, hooking his hands under his shaking knees and pushes with all of his might. His legs shook from adrenaline and his whole body felt like he was on fire. Seonghwa sees her shoulders exposed and once she was halfway out and safe enough to be pulled out, Seonghwa holds her in both hands and gently removes her. She comes out with a squeak, and soon a series of loud, sharp cries.
Wooyoung sobs hard as Seonghwa hands her to him, holding onto her closely and burying his nose in her soft, wet hair, "Hi baby girl! Oh my goodness you're finally here!" He looks down at her crying face and his eyes water, "And you're so beautiful."
"She is," Seonghwa wipes his eyes with the back of his hands, sniffling as her tiny cries turn into whimpers.
Seonghwa wraps a deer pelt around her, even though it was warm in the shelter he still didn't want to risk her losing body heat. Wooyoung holds onto the blanket and wraps her up better in his arms. Seonghwa cuts the cord and ties it off with a string from his shirt, then looks to Wooyoung, "Okay, think you have enough energy to deliver the placenta?"
Wooyoung nods, holding on to their baby as he pushes. Seonghwa helps him deliver it as he pushes on Wooyoung's stomach, making the blonde cry out as it is finally removed. Seonghwa bundles it in his hands and sets it aside, making a reminder to take it outside in the woods for the scavengers later.
Wooyoung had grabbed the cloth to clean their baby, and dipped it in the warm water. He cleans her tiny face and head first, kissing her every so often and nuzzling his nose in her soft black hair. Seonghwa watches with a proud smile, ready to help whenever his omega needed it.
Wooyoung does end up handing her over to him and he finishes cleaning her body before wrapping her back in the deer pelt. He took a good look at her and his eyes sparkle, "She looks just like you Youngie. She has my eyes and that's about it."
"She's so tiny," Wooyoung croaks, his voice hoarse from screaming and crying during his labor and delivery. He reaches to hold her again and Seonghwa happily hands her over, moving to sit behind the omega and wrap his arms around his tiny family. Wooyoung shivers slightly, holding his baby closer to keep her warm with his body heat and Seonghwa's chest against his back helped a lot with the cold.
They stayed in that position for a few moments, staring down at their little creation as she nuzzles into Wooyoung's chest. Seonghwa brushes a timid finger against her ears, her tiny mouth curling up in a grin, "What should we name her?"
Wooyoung giggles, wincing at the pain from the sudden movement as he looks down at her, "I've been thinking about this one, but I wanted to see what you thought before we named her that."
"What is it?"
"Wynter," Wooyoung whispers, smiling slightly.
Seonghwa noticed the happy glow from him after saying the name, and he couldn't help but smile too as he nuzzles his nose against his cheek and then kissing the top of his daughter's head, "Hello little Wynter. Welcome to this cold, cold world."
