Chapter IX
"Maybe he was pretending to be a player so he could fool everyone that he liked girls..." I mumbled to myself when showcasing my gig outfit in the mirror.
It could have been that Jax was not an actual player. Maybe he was just putting on that persona alto hide his feelings for Gray. Or I could have been making up a BL that wasn't even there.
My emotions took over me, and I started to shed some tears. "Poor Jax."
Mr. Lemon was going to be here in few minutes to pick us up for the show that we were going to perform for tonight. I quickly finished up my makeup and headed out of my room.
Kevin and Kai were standing at the front door awaiting my arrival. I walked down, showing off my stripped thigh-highs and my cute hat that matched my makeup. The makeup was slightly grungy, expressing the dark lips and pale foundation I had used.
When I reached the two, Kevin started crying. "I can't believe it. My siblings are professional musicians."
"We aren't professional yet," I let out a nervous chuckle. Although I was being praised by Kevin, I was still nervous. This was the first time I was going to actually play in front of hundreds of people.
Kai just looked at me, rolling his eyes. However, Kevin noticed my uneasiness. He then gave me a hug which almost messed up my makeup. "You will do fine, Maple." He reassured me.
I felt the great amount of stress that was lingering with me fly away. He always made everything better.
"Alright!" I exclaimed in an upbeat tone. "I got this."
"Yeah!" Kevin joined in with my self-affirmation.
Suddenly, we all heard a honk which meant that Mr. Lemon and the others were here.
"Well, you guys get going." Kevin patted us on the back after opening the door. "I'll be there later when the audience can go. Have fun!"
A smile formed on my face, leaving me to feel happy. Kai and I waved goodbye to Kevin before heading out.
When we arrived outside, we saw the car containing the others. The back door opened, leading me to see only Jax in the back. He had some weird makeup on. There was a big star on his right eye and three small ones on his left cheekbone. They were the color black, which matched well with his white foundation. His lips weren't black like mine, but rather a red ombre.
"You coming in?" Jax snapped me out of my observation.
"Yes," I nodded my head but wondered where Gray was. "Is Gray in the front?"
"I am!" I heard his voice come from next to Mr. Lemon. He looked cool. His eye had a cat wing that looked super pointy while his skin was his normal peachy-olive complexion. Having only his skin tone foundation on didn't add any attention to his winged liner, making it look more subtle.
"Wait, I thought I was going to sit in the front." Kai interrupted.
Mr. Lemon let out a hardy laugh that sounded like it could wake up a whole neighborhood. He then turned around and looked at Kai, giving him a death stare. "You talk too much. I need to concentrate when driving."
"I'll just get in." I entered the car, trying to pay no attention to what was happening. Kai usually sat in the front with Kevin too, so it was some sort of thing he needed to do. Maybe control issue? Who knows.
After I sat next to Jax and buckled my seat belt, Kai pouted his way into the back seat. We all then made our way to the venue where the show was going to take place.
Jax looked over at me and noticed that I was nervous. Even after the pep-talk from Kevin, I was still nervous.
"You alright?" Jax asked with a worried expression.
I was surprised to see him so worried about me and not adding a sexual comment to it. I then smiled and nodded my head, "Yeah. Just a bit nervous."
"Is that so?" He rubbed his chin. "Is it because you are going to be playing in front of others?"
"Yeah." I was also shocked he was getting it spot on. "But I think it will be okay. A few hundred people in the audience is better than a few thousand, right?"
"Huh? A few hundred?" Gray joined in the conversation. "About a few thousand is going to be at the show. We aren't only popular at our school but in the other schools in Tokyo also."
"Eh?" I was confused. I didn't know that they were that famous. I thought it was only going to be our school plus our neighborhood coming.
"Oh, and our neighborhood is coming too. So that adds in one more hundred." Gray grinned. "Charlotte is going to be there also."
"Who's Charlotte?" I questioned since I never heard that name before.
"Oh, she's our childhood friend," Jax added. "All three of us grew up together."
Way to put salt in the wound. Not only was I going to play in front of thousands of people, but I also gained a new possible rival with Jax. Could this day have gotten any worse?
Right after trying to deal with all of this stress, I felt my stomach hurt. "Are we almost there yet?"
"Yeah. Right now we are getting into the parking lot." Mr. Lemon informed me.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Kai whispered into my ear, noticing that I was turning a bit green.
"Nope. I have to puke." I whispered back to him.
"Oh, God!" He exclaimed, opening the door to exit the car before Mr. Lemon parked.
"What?" Mr. Lemon pressed the brake and was confused about what was happening.
"She's going to blow," Kai yelled, staying away as far as possible from the car.
"I'm not, you idiot!" I yelled at Kai but then felt something coming up. I then covered my mouth, unbuckled, and ran out of the car. I ran to a bush and let it out.
It reeked of the curry Kevin made for dinner. I felt bad for puking up something he tried so hard to make.
"Are you okay, Maple?" Gray asked as I saw him and Jax running over to help.
"No! Don't come!" I yelled, feeling embarrassed for throwing up.
I felt the leftover residue left on my lips and teeth. I tried so hard with my makeup. I felt the emotions starting to overwhelm me, to which I started to cry.
Jax and Gray both stood there dumbfounded, wondering what to do.
"Can I just get cleaned up?" I choked on a tear every word. Mr. Lemon then came over and helped guide me to the bathroom in the venue.
After washing off all of the puke from my lips and mouth, I tried to reapply the black lipstick. However, I forgot to bring the white foundation with me that was smeared off a bit around my mouth area from the water.
As I was about to cry over the fact that I wasn't able to fix it, a pretty, pale girl walked into the restroom. She looked at me and noticed my foundation. I looked down at the sink, trying my best to not make eye contact with her.
"Are you okay?" She walked up to me even though I was trying to look away.
"Eh...yeah," I answered.
She then looked closely at my face. "Oh, dear. You need some foundation to help with that." She then grinned and started to scavenge through her bag. "Thankfully I have some concealer."
She then took out the bottle of concealer and matched it up with my skin. She smiled and then started putting it onto my face. "Thank God it matches."
After putting it on, I looked in the mirror and saw that it looked like how it did previously. "Thank you so much!"
"No problem." She smiled and then handed me her concealer. "You can keep this in case it becomes messy again."
"Oh, thanks." But before I could thank her again, she left.
Who was that beautiful angel?
