Chapter 4: Seafood and Snogging
Whipping his sunglasses off, he gave me a small smile as he said, "You were expecting me...?"
"..." was all I was able to respond with as I looked him up and down. He worked out, definitely worked out. This was not what I was expecting but the look certainly had my approval. I could feel myself reawakening from deep within and for once, I was glad I had no visual representation of that. "Uh... hi." I said finally, after picking my jaw off the pavement. Luckily, I was able to filter myself and not say what I wanted to say.
"Hello, yourself." Addie replied plainly, hanging his sunglasses from his t-shirt as those steel-silver eyes looked around the hectic shopping center. After a few seconds, he looked back at me and said something, but I didn't hear him. I only saw those delicious lips move. I was too busy focusing on his physique. The Gods of Sex had given me such a precious gift and I had no idea what to do with it.
Addie snapped his fingers in my face, bringing me back to reality. "Where are we eating?" He asked.
How's the spot between my legs sound? I asked internally. It took a lot for me to not ask it out loud.
"There's a seafood place by the water at the end of the pier on the second floor." I answered finally. "You can see a lot of the bay from there... Very romantic, I think." I grinned a little at him.
"Sounds good to me." Adrian nodded, and added, "Shall we?"
"Yeah..." I stammered, still stuck on his physique. "Let's go." Without thinking, I take his hand into my own. His gorgeous silver eyes wide at the gesture, and a trace of pink colored his pale cheeks. I grinned up at him, "Don't want to get separated, right?"
He nodded and led me into the fray of people. The entire pier seemed to sag with the weight of all the tacky tourists surrounding us, arms holding bags full of souvenir tee-shirts. All these bodies rubbing and pushing past each other also made for a very sweltering experience, with all the body heat growing as we made our way down into the pier. With his brow sweating and gelled-hair now flopping slightly, Adrian pulled me into a souvenir crystal wares shop to catch his breath.
"I'm sorry..." He panted, pulling out a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe himself down, "I am not used to such heat."
I chuckled, "Be happy you're not in all that black otherwise you'd be in a shittier state." I turned slightly away from him for a moment to make sure my boobs weren't overly sweaty, quickly rearranging them. "The restaurant is usually empty at this time of day, so it shouldn't be as crowded... I hope."
"One can only hope..." Adrian muttered, admiring some of the crystal jewelry on display. He seemed to be staring at the pair of swan-shaped earrings. For me perhaps? Nah. I shook the thought away; too soon for that... not that I'd mind however. He's probably thinking about getting them for his mom... or significant back home. I reconsidered the possibility of infidelity, He didn't seem like that kind of guy, but at the same time, one can never be too sure. After thinking about it for a little bit, he shook his head imperceptibly and led me out of the air-conditioned shop. The heat hit the two of us like a freight train, making Adrian put his sunglasses back on as we continued on towards the seafood restaurant.
"We should hit the salt water taffy shop on the way back, that stuff is my shit." I stated as we walked. "Also, I got reservations so even if it is packed we shouldn't be waiting long." I looked down at our cupped hands. I still wasn't sure if he was doing it in an odd casual manner or not, but damn did he have some delightfully warm and soft hands.
The kind that would feel great all over.
My mind began to drift at the thought of his hands roaming all over my body, exploring the best parts of me, which is everything. A wicked smile formed on my features at the erotic day dream. Boy would I not complain if this date lead to that.
"We are here." Adrian then said, breaking me out of my fantastical stupor. We were standing outside Neptune's, which is on the second floor of the pier at the very end, and there was a line clear out the door of people waiting to be seated! A gaggle of umbrellas had been set up outside to provide some ample shade, along with a mist sprayer working overtime to spray waiting patrons with cooling water vapor. Pushing through the crowd slightly, Adrian approached the podium and brought me up.
"Party of two for Erika Lima," I told the hostess. I wasn't expecting a crowd but I had reservations, damn it!
The blonde woman behind the podium smile softly, "Good afternoon, Ms. Lima. Unfortunately your table isn't ready yet. It'll be another 10 minutes or so. I will call you when it's ready."
"Fuuuck," Came my reply of annoyance. "Well OK, I guess we'll be waiting then." I looked to my date and shrugged apologetically. "It's worth the wait, I promise."
Adrian nodded sagely and decided to step outside for a light misting. As he left my side, I watched as the Teuton was coated in a spray of clear water. It got everywhere, on his face, on his shirt, across those strong, toned biceps. His now-soaking t-shirt helped highlight his pecs and strong, brick-like abs. Eh, I had ten minutes, so I couldn't help but fantasize...
There he stood - shirtless and looking like Fabio on the cover of those cheesy romance novels without the long hair. Adrian strode past the other patrons, as they faded away as he walked by. Scooping me into his strong arms, he carried me out, and we were suddenly at the beach. The cool San Franciscan waters lapping gently at the shore with the Golden Gate Bridge soaring high overhead, twinkling in the dying sunlight. We kissed passionately on the white sandy shores, his expert hands ridding me of my clothing in the process and began caressing my skin.
I let out a soft moan in response against his lips. He gently laid me back down and from my point of view; he looked like some sort of god. He leaned down slowly, claiming my lips once more as we began to consummate our newfound love...
And suddenly, just like that, Adrian was standing in front of me, soaking wet but visibly cooled.
"Our table's ready, Frau Erika." He murmured softly under the crowd.
"Mmm?" I moaned quietly before coming back to reality. "Oh! Right, thanks for the heads up, babe." I failed to catch the second pet name I had just bestowed upon him as we were lead to our table - an intimate spot for two by the water. I grinned as we were seated and looked down to see people taking photos on the pier. Yes! Now I could laugh my ass off as people got surprised by the large waves generated by the massive cargo ships across the water as they came and went. It was my favorite thing to do and part of the reason why I wanted, and still do, go there. Well, it was like 70% the reason why, the other 30 coming from the fact that the food was good.
My date meanwhile looked out at the bay, feeling impressed at the sight before looking at the wine menu quietly.
"Oh, you should try the crab fried rice!" I said, looking back at him. "It's like only the best thing ever! It comes with a small crab too!" I glanced over the menu briefly, but I had been here so many times I nearly knew it by heart. I knew what I wanted; it was what I always ordered - crab fried rice to start with fried shrimp and steak as the main, usually followed up with some sort of dessert.
"I've never had rice before." Adrian replied, raising an eyebrow, "Might be good then." My blue eyes went wide, "What?! How could you have not had rice? It's like a staple in nearly every culture!"
"I was referring to the fried Asian variety," he corrected as he set his menu down, "Usually we just cook it normally or put it in desserts."
"I suppose, but still, Asian fried rice is pretty common." I arched a brow, leaning forward, "What part of Germany are you from again?"
"Southern." He replied, "Specifically Baden-Wurttemberg. It is a proud, old, historic state." He then smiled, continuing, "Is where I grew up, where I always go home. I cannot wait to go back."
I pouted playfully, lacing my fingers as I rested my chin on top. "Aww, and leave me all alone?"
"You've never been?" he inquired.
I shook my head. "Went to Bavaria maybe once or twice to see my grandma as a little kid, but that was it. Never saw any other parts of Germany besides that."
"You should see the rest of the country; it's beautiful, especially in warmer weather. However, winter gives it its own feel, especially the castles."
"Will you take me?" I asked cutely.
Adrian gave a mild shrug as if unfazed by my question, but those silver eyes spoke so much more. "Maybe?" he answered. He seemed a bit different from when I first met him; not as shy as before. Maybe he was getting use to me? Or maybe he had a few drinks prior to settle his nerves. I remembered that same night at the club he was a bit less flustered after having a drink. Our waiter arrived and we put in our orders, but remained quiet after, both of us looking every which way but at each other. I'm hardly nervous on first dates, but now I suddenly felt a little shy myself. Our drinks soon arrived and I decided to keep breaking the ice. If he wasn't going to spark up a conversation, I would.
"So," I began, "Architect, huh? What's that like?"
Adrian sipped his own ginger ale, then replied, "Business is... good. If you are wondering, nobody around the office builds crazy buildings. We just design simple office spaces and... that's it."
"Well that's boring! You should be more creative! I mean yeah, the weird stuff is usually ugly but it's better than generic stuff!"
"Eh..." He muttered as he took another sip, "Not really allowed to be. The last project we handled, we help build a new office building in Seattle, Washington. Some steel company wanted it; at least, that is what they called themselves."
"Still sounds dull." I replied bluntly, "Do you have any personal stuff that's more creative?" I looked up as the waiter arrived with the rice, forcing the conversation to be put on pause. Which was fine; nothing is more important than food! "Fuck yeah, crab fried rice!"
I watched hesitantly and with anticipation as Adrian observed the deliciousness before him. He poked at the crab-filled fried rice timidly, examining it. My eyes widened gradually as he took a forkful into his mouth, testing the flavor. Would he love it? Oh, please love it; I don't think this'll work otherwise!
"...That's good." He said calmly before going in for seconds with more courage.
"I know right?" I didn't bother with table etiquette as I dug in. "It's almost as good as sex!"
Adrian's eyes then went wide, surprised that I oh-so-casually mentioned sex, dropping his next forkful of rice onto his plate and letting out a cough. "Y-you so sure about that?" He said incredulously.
I couldn't help but laugh. Oh, baby if that threw you, you're gonna be in for a world of surprises! "I did say almost. Why?" I grinned, deciding to continue with the subject, "You've had some amazing sex?"
He just looked back at me with wide eyes; there's the man I ran into on the train a few days ago. His expression then fell as he recovered from my question, "Isn't it... a bit soon to be asking such things?"
I gave a soft shrug, "Since we're on the subject..."
"Are you always this "vivacious"?" He asked flatly.
"That and more, baby." I purred for him and return to my food, letting my words hang blissfully in the air.
Adrian continued eating in silence, enjoying the delicious rice before our main course arrived: steak and lobster for him, and steak and shrimp for me, of course. As we ate, I snuck a few peeks at him; who knew monotone could be so beautiful? I wondered what he was thinking, if what I had said made any impact on him, positively, that is. However, the quiet was starting to get to me again. I hate quiet just as much as I hate being alone; it makes my mind wander. And when my mind wanders, bad reminders force their way in.
"Speaking of sex," I continued casually, "What kinda chicks spike your dick?"
Adrian held back another choke of food, swallowing this time before saying, "I... never really took that into consideration." A few minutes of hard thinking then followed before he explained, "I would suppose a perfect woman for me has good sense of style and isn't so subservient. Looks are usually not much for me, at least I cannot pin them down." He then sipped his ginger ale, before finishing with, "I will admit, I do have, as other people at my work say, 'a catch'."
"And that is...?" I pressed on.
"Someone different compared to me," His silver eyes met mine. "While I would like there to be some similarities between us; I think someone with views and a personality opposite mine would be... refreshing? At least, that's what my co-workers think."
I straightened up in my seat; what an odd answer. "What do you mean?"
He shrugged, "Opposites attract, as they say."
"Would you say we are?" I want more insight on this.
"Clearly," he tucked into his steak once more.
"How so?"
"You're... colorful." My face must have read concern because he followed up with, "I mean in a good way. You're very vibrant... and loud."
Taking that last bit as a compliment, I smirked, "You like 'em loud, huh? Well, you'll like me then."
Adrian looked at me pointedly, "We shall see."
"Yes, we shall."
