Chapter 5

Disclaimer: Me no owns Naruto. Me even didn't write the first 8 chapters of this fic. All rights to those belong to Masashi Kishimoto and Deathbyshykid respectfully.

A/N: Sorry that editing this took so long. A combination of working on a fic with massive writer's block, work and school. On the side note, I am looking for a beta for this fic. You will be helping edit the rest of the chapters for this fic and will get a shout out in every Chappy.

The video in the media, is my new musical obsession. The PJO Musical

A/N- To clear something up real quick, Minato didn't see Naruto summon Tamotsu and Sora. Also, my story is moving very far away from the canon. If you tell me that something is wrong with my history of what originally was going on in the show/manga, then I will say SUCK IT! Just kidding, I will say that this is my story and my story goes how I want it to go! Now, who's ready for another great chapter, I know I am! Thanks for all who left comments after reading this. I love you all!

Once Minato and Kushina arrived at the hospital, their youngest daughter in the hands of one of the parents, they were ushered into a room for examination. Blood was tested and objects were injected into the girl. After about an hour, their other children who had dropped off Kakashi soon found them.

Before the children could utter a word, Kushina started to speak in a stern voice, "Sit." Naomi and Menma shared a look before plopping down on a bench, staring up at their parents. The mother of three sighed out, "We never finished our discussion. Humor me once more, where were you?"

"In a bar." Menma stated quietly.

His blue eyes closed in thought before speaking again, "What were you doing in said bar."

"Drinking." Naomi answered this time.

Kushina looked to her husband, knowing that he needed to give them a tongue lashing. Minato clenched his fists for a few seconds before letting them go slack, "Why on earth did you find that to be a good idea?" The two shrugged lightly, not daring to speak. This only made the blonde Hokage want to shout and pull at his hair, "Do not lie with me! I want the absolute truth and nothing, do you understand?"

"Yes sir!"

He sighed out slowly before continuing speaking, "Why did you enter a bar and drink?"

Menma's eyes started to water over with all of the guilt that was pressured on him, "We were all bored and we played truth or dare..."

"TRUTH OR DARE!" Kushina bellowed, "You went drinking for the hell of it because of a dare?!"

"Who all were playing?" Minato questioned, his voice thick and stern.

Naomi twirled her hair with her fingers, looking anywhere but their eyes, "It was my teammates, Menma, and I. Our sensei was out on a mission and we were bored. We played truth or dare and I got dared to go into a bar and take a few shots, so I did."

"But..." Mina continued, "I didn't want her going in alone, so I went with her. Her team just followed us to see if we actually did it... which we did. We got a little drunk and her teammates had to take us out of the bar. We stayed out in the forest for a few hours to sober up."

"A few hours?" Kushina laughed sarcastically, "A few hours? You were gone the entire day! Your father and I didn't see you leave the house this morning and you didn't get back home till nearly one in the morning!"

The two kids were now crying ashamed of their actions. The younger one covered his eyes, "I'm so sorry!"

"I'm sorry also. It was a dumb thing to do." Naomi quivered in her seat.

Minato's eyes hardened, "You two and Naomi's team won't be going on mission for two weeks starting today. However, you will both be grounded for a month. The only times you will leave the house is if you have an emergency, are in danger, we come and get you, your senseis have called for a meeting, or you go on a mission. Do you understand?"

"Yes sir."

"Thank you." He nodded, taking in a tiny breath at a time.

"Is he going to be okay?" Naomi asked after about an hour after the whole tongue lashing.

The blond Hokage nodded, "Yes, he'll be fine, just chakra exhaustion."

Menma blinked and looked at his mother with wide eyes, "Chakra exhaustion? That can't be right! I thought mom said that we weren't allowed to train until we got into the academy?"

His mother's eyes darkened, her red locks of hair falling lifelessly, "That's precisely what I said."

"Then why?" Her daughter asked, her young eyes staring with interest and jealousy.

"I don't know." Kushina mumbled, "I... I don't know."

"Hokage-sama?" A petite woman stated, interrupting the tension. She wore a thin white robe with a stethoscope wrapped around her neck; a nurse.

Minato looked over at her, "Yes? What is it?

"You asked that if anything came out unusual about your daughter, to tell you." She nodded to her own words. He nodded for her to continue. She fixed her white robe before speaking, "Well, her heart rate is 45 beats per minute, which is very low considering his age. Children around three to four years old are to have a heart rate of 80 to about 100. The rate your daughter's is at is that of a resting senior."

"Do you think the chakra exhaustion has anything to do with it?" Naomi questioned.

The nurse shook her head, "I'm sorry, but it doesn't correspond with his condition whatsoever. In the past hour, her heart rate has gone down three times. When we were testing, it was at 79 beats per minute, then 64 beats per minute. Around thirty minutes ago it was 55 and just ten minutes ago, it dropped to 45."

Minato crossed his arms, "That doesn't make sense."

"Yes, that is what most of us are saying." She bowed quickly, turning around, "I must get back to work."

"J-Jūbi...-san?" A shaken voice called out.

"Namikaze-chan!" The beast sputtered out, shocked that his Jinchuriki had woken up. He had still been doubting that Narumi would ever wake up.

The blond shivered on the cold concrete, "Where... Where are you?"

The Jūbi banged against the cage, "I'm right here."

"I can't feel... anything." Narumi tried to lift an arm, but it was slack, "Can you help me?"

The lone eye narrowed, "I would if I could. This cage's force-field is holding me back."

The child of four shivered again, her opened eyes gazing into the non-existing ceiling, "I'm cold." The Jūbi's tails lay flat on the cement floors, his large head drooping while his heart started to crack. From what his Jinchuriki had told him, he couldn't move and he was cold, something Nija had said before she died of blood lost. Could he be slowly dying and be asking for help, but could never get it? "Where are you?" Narumi repeated.

"Right... here." The Jūbi spoke quietly.

A mumbled voice came next, "Don't... don't leave... me."

"As you wish."

The Fourth Hokage sat quietly in the hospital room. His wife had dozed off in a chair beside his daughter's bed. He was standing in the corner behind Kushina. Narumi's heart rate was at 30 beat per second and it hasn't dropped since, but a new problem came up. His body temperature was dropping significantly. It was originally 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, but it had slowly dropped to just before he hit hypothermia. They had set up a lot of heating pads around Narumi.

The doctors are keeping him on full surveillance. Along with the strange fall in her heart rate and her falling temperature, the mystery of her chakra exhaustion was still bugging him. The individual coils had stretched too much which caused her to pass out. Minato had many questions swirling in his head. He had wondered if Daichi or Mya had the ability to steal chakra, but the doctors would be able to tell if that was the cause.

Minato gazed at his daughter's sleeping form. "She's only four years old. Why is all of this happening to her?" He bowed his head in thought and shame, "Is it because I have enemies? Mya did say that her mission was to take Kushina and me away for experimentation. She's going to lose her childhood if they keep going after him."

"Becoming a parent has really changed you, hasn't it?" A woman questioned.

The blond glanced up and smiled, walking towards the door and hugging the older woman, "It's been a while, Tsunade."

"Too long." She chuckled, looking over at the boy in the hospital bed, "She looks identical to you. Her name, if I recall, is Narumi?"

"Yeah, that's my little sunshine." Minato's gaze softened slightly before turning to look at his former teacher's partner, "What brings you here?"

Tsunade crossed her arms, "Have you talked to Kakashi yet?"

He shook his head, "No, my family needed my support right now. I sent Naomi and Menma home for the evening, but Kushina insisted on being beside Narumi when she awoke."

"Come, you need to hear this." Her voice was stern and serious. She walked out of the room with Minato in tow towards Kakashi's room. Tsunade opened the door to his room and let the Hokage walk in first.

"Good evening, Kakashi, how are you feeling?" The blond smiled.

The silver haired male nodded, "I'm feeling better, Minato-sensei."

"Tell him what you told me." Tsunade stated, taking a seat by the window.

Kakashi nodded slowly and looked his sensei in the eyes, "I saw Narumi summon something."

"What?" Minato was slightly breathless, "None of my children have contracts with any sort of animal."

"This wasn't any animal I'd ever seen before. When I had found Narumi, Mya Nye was holding her in the air by her hair with a kunai to her neck." The Hokage chest clenched as he heard his student speak to him, "She then performed a summoning jutsu. It was as big as a dog with hundreds of teeth, one eye, and two tails. It had a type of shell on its back and a bunch of spikes everywhere. It was terrifying to look at."

"What?" Minato mumbled looking beyond shocked.

"Mya threw Narumi into the air along with nearly three dozen senbons. I wasn't fast enough and that woman knew that, but his summon caught him and I told them to run." Kakashi stated, "Then, you found him and myself. We then fought Mya and Daichi."

"Wait, there was another summon. This one fought with me. She was the one who led us to where Narumi was. We met up with her brother, the one you had just described." The blonde crossed his arms in concentration, "What that other summon could do was incredible. I'm in slight disbelief that Narumi could summon her."

"Minato..." Tsunade interrupted, "If the child did summon those two creatures, it would explain the severe chakra exhaustion she's experiencing. Though, I believe there is some underlying story going on here."

"What about an underlying story? Are you talking about my books?" A white haired man questioned, poking his head through the now opened window.

"No, you idiot!" Tsunade growled, punching her former teammate on the head which sent him down to the ground.

"Tsunade-hime!" He cried out, his face meeting wood. After he recovered, he sat up.

Minato chuckled at the two, "What brings you here, Jiraiya-sensei?"

"I was training outside of the village when one of my toads appeared before me. It was a scouter toad I had placed in Konoha a while ago. She told me that she felt two disturbances in Konoha." He spoke seriously, "I came back in case something was going down. I went to search for you and found you in here. Then I hear about my goddaughter summoning something. When did you let her sign her name for the toads?"

His student shook his head, "My daughter has no ninja training. Sure she knows what chakra is, she's made herself acquainted with many books in my library, but she's never trained. Kushina didn't want any of the kids training until they got into the academy. That means no summons."

Jiraiya's brows furrowed, "Then what did he summon?"

"A monster of some sort." Kakashi mumbled, "It was terrifying."

The white haired male scratched his chin in thought, "A monster? What type of summon could that be?"

"None that I'd ever seen." The hospitalized man responded.

Jiraiya suddenly opened up a pouch on his person and pulled out an empty notebook with a pencil attached to it, "Draw them for me."

Minato reached out and took it, "I'll draw them both, Kakashi. You need to rest for a little while more." His former student nodded slowly as the Hokage led the two Sannin out of the room and into an empty room. He put pencil to paper and started to draw the two-headed summon first. He took his time sketching out her details and was done within the next ten minutes. Minato went onto the other one, not spending as much time on it as the other one because he didn't study him as much as the other. He handed the notebook back to his teacher, "Here you go."

Jiraiya's eyes widened, "This isn't a summon... it can't be."

"Let me see." His former partner took the notebook from his hands and studied it, "I've seen hundreds of summons, and none of them resemble this... creature. Most summons are regular animals, like my slugs and others are a combination of two or more animals, but you can see the resemblance. There is no such thing with these two."

The blonde nodded, running a hand through his hair, "I thought the same thing."

"This is something ancient." The older male looked to Tsunade, "Do you think the Senju library has something on these two? The Senju are direct descendants of the Rikudou Sennin."

The blonde woman blinked in concentration before smirking, "That's a brilliant idea, Jiraiya. Sometimes I think that there is some logical thought in that brain of yours when it's not filled with porn."

"Hey!"

"My clan library may have something that can help us figure out this mystery." She smiled.

Minato grinned back, "Should I get Kushina or leave her a note saying that I'll be back?"

Jiraiya shook his head, "We won't be long, just leave a note." The young Hokage left the room, but came back two minutes later. The three ninja left the hospital and walked towards the Senju library, which was protected by a barrier that only a person of the clan could unlock. They were inside the library in thirty minutes.

The three went to different sections of the extremely large library with scrolls and books everywhere. Tsunade headed towards ancient history, just in case. Jiraiya went to search for information in the summon history section. Minato was mostly wandering the library, looking in a book every now and then for information. He eventually went to work with Tsunade in the section she now sat at.

It was nearing three in the morning when the slug summoner found something. She ushered the others to come over, which they quickly did. "What did you find?" Jiraiya yawned, dragging a lazy hand over his face.

"Something very interesting." She responded, showing the front of the book, "There was a seal on the front of the book that only a Senju could unlock. It's about the Rikudou Sennin, more specifically, his journal."

"His journal?" Minato was baffled.

"Yes, and there is something in here that you all need to hear." Tsunade said.

"Well?" Jiraiya moved his hands in a circular motion, wanting her to start with her reasoning.

"It says..."

Dear whomever this may concern,

My name is Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki. I write to you to tell you about my mistakes, the one's that will screw with the upcoming future. You will not know of anything about this when you read this, come a decade or a few centuries. My secret will be in no books. You have probably come across this letter because you were in search of it. Congratulations, are you prepared to learn of the unknown?

There was an immortal creature who lived in harmony for centuries before my birth. He was miles taller than any mountain that dusted our planet. He had thousands of teeth, but he never used them. He was paler than any white garment a person could wear. He had ten tails behind him, all as long as he was tall. He had one red eye that was larger than any boulder. His name was the Jūbi.

As I had reached the age of thirty-five, my mother grew greedy for power. She wanted it all for herself, wanted to take what she wanted. She had a plan for how she was going to achieve this power, she was going to take it from the Jūbi. My mother decided he would be the most vulnerable when he was placed under great deal of stress and madness. For a decade, she went out of her way to drive him mad. In the end, it worked.

He was insane and no longer left humans to their biddings. The first person he had killed was my mother, for driving him mad. He then killed hundreds, even thousands of people. My two sons and I were on the front line. When we fought, we were on equal ground, but my sons and I were losing drastically. I had two choices in how to save the world: fight until my death, hoping for it to do something against him or to seal him, but how?

After my sons were taken six feet under, I found a way to seal the beast. I could seal him into a person, but who could take on a burden like this one? The answer was no one, so I sealed him into my person. I was named a Jinchuriki by the elders of my clan. For the next three decades, I lived in solitude, keeping this secret from them all.

I am nearing death as I write to you. It may come tomorrow or a month after this. I await it, but it had come to my attention a while back that what happens to the Jūbi once I am buried near my family? It will go back to terrorizing humanity. I have decided to not let that happen, there will be no bloodshed from this beast ever again as I have made a deal.

Once I die, the Jūbi will be put into another person. The beast wasn't in favor of my deal, so he added onto it. He wanted to choose who he wanted his Jinchuriki to be. Though, whoever he picked, he would be born into the world along with this child. The Jūbi's soul will merge with a person's soul, naming that soul worthy enough to carry on the title of Ten-Tailed Jinchuriki, as I was called before. The merged soul will later be born into the world, an invisible seal on their person.

In the pages beyond this letter is a series of notes and drawing I have made. They show what this beast can do and what a Jinchuriki is capable of. I have only had the beast for thirty some years, so I have yet to explore what all we can do, the Jūbi and I. I hope the child of miracles comes soon, Sunpō no sukuinushi.

Sincerely,

Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki

"There are dozens of pages in here and look what we have here." Tsunade flipped a few pages, pointing to something, "It's that summon."

Minato cautiously took the book from the woman's hands, "That's... that's the one that saved Narumi's life. The one that was protecting her in that cave." He placed the book down on the table, turning around and laying his head on one of the walls. He sighed, his chest clenching uncomfortably, "Does... Does that mean that Narumi..." He couldn't finish the sentence. Tears pricked his eyes, "Is that what Mya and Daichi are after her? Why didn't she tell me? He lied... oh god... she lied!"

"Calm down." Jiraiya stated, "What if she was scared to tell you? What if she didn't even know himself?"

"No..." Minato muttered, "He knows. Kushina said that when Mya first came to our attention, Narumi said she heard something and begged her to check. Everything she's done in the past three months are making sense." The room went silent.

"Jūbi-san... I'm cold." Narumi muttered, trying to move around, but it was all in vain.

"I know." He responded. The Jūbi had been watching his Jinchuriki wallow in his own cold and non-feeling world. It was very depressing, to say the least.

The blonde closed her eyes. She missed the familiar warmth she found comfort in when she sat inside of the cage with the Jūbi. Now, she lays outside of the bars, her body cold and frozen in place. Narumi wanted to feel the hug of the warmth, wanted to be near her best friend. Her eyes snapped open, a new objective in his mind. He wanted to be near the Jūbi, her friend. The person – or rather creature – that had been looking out for her since birth. Narumi growled lowly, trying to twist himself so that she laid on her side. It took a few times until she was staring at the wall instead of the never-ending ceiling. She took large breaths, feeling her body wanting to become lazy once again. She'd been laying on the ground for the longest time, she was done sitting around. Narumi tipped herself a little bit, falling onto her stomach. Her arms felt weak and begged to stop be in use; she didn't listen to them. The Jūbi suddenly became worried over her as Narumi started to drag herself towards the cage, "What are you doing?"

Narumi didn't respond, her objective the only thing running through her mind. Black dots clouded the corners of her eyes, making her head swirl and her heart slow down. She was so cold, so numb. She was so close, the temperature rising every second the she drug herself. Narumi looked up, her eyes locking with her demons and she grinned weakly. She managed to crawl all the way there, but she only managed to get her hands into the cage while her body went slack as her mind drifted to sleep. The Jūbi's tail slithered from behind him and pulled at Narumi's hand, the rest of her body following suit. Within two seconds, the girl was inside the cage. The beast smiled slightly, his tail curling lightly around Narumi's sleeping form. The Jūbi knew he'd grown attached, even if they only met a month or two ago, he knew he'd protect this child with everything in him.

"Don't lie to me, Minato!" Kushina cried, shouting her words, "Don't you dare!"

"I'm not lying!" He shouted back, "What were are telling you is the truth and nothing else." Tsunade and Jiraiya stood near the opposite wall, watching the scene play through.

She drug a shaky hand through her hair, "So you're telling me that our daughter has had one of the most demonic entities in all of history sealed inside of her since before she was born? You expect me to believe this?"

Minato sighed, touching her two shoulder with his hands, "Look. Think of all the things Narumi has done in the past two months that has been strange. Think, Kushina."

She closed her navy colored eyes in concentration. In her mind, she could only think of her bright ball of sunshine. "Alright, Kushina, think! When did it start? Two months ago, the day Mya Nye attacked me. What happened? A fight went on and she fled. Narumi was in the hospital. Minato thought she'd fought her and that's how he ended up hurt." Kushina thought, "What else? He learned to tell if someone was lying, or was that my imagination? No, she knew, but how? Minato says that Kakashi saw her summon something, how?" Her lip quivered, her chest clenching together in an unpleasant heap. Her fists tightened against each other. "You say that she knows about being a Jinchuriki, but why would she lie to us?" Kushina pleaded, "He's never lied to us before!"

"Everyone lies, Kushina. Ninja are trained to be ninja-"He couldn't even finish his sentence before she was crying and shouting.

"SHE'S NOT A NINJA!" She howled, "Not yet. She's not allowed to lie, especially to us! We've had this conversation before, Minato. I've been lied to too many times and I didn't want our children to grow up lying and being lied to. Narumi wouldn't do that to us!"

He looked away from her pleading eyes, "Do you want to read the letter for yourself? Do you want to look at the journal? Read it and maybe then you'll better believe that our daughter is the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki."

She wiped her tears, "...Fine." Minato handed the book over to her. Kushina took it and walked out, heading towards her daughter's hospital room.

"You were brave to tell her that." Minato's former teacher stated quietly, the tension not easing up.

The blonde stared at the two Sannin, "I'm not brave. She just needed to know the truth. I would never lie to her about something like this."

Kushina finished the letter, even read it two more times to make sure she wasn't dreaming. It was all written down on paper. She didn't want to turn the next pages, but it was her impending doom. She was curious as hell, that's for sure. The red haired woman was already looking at the notes and drawing the Rikudou Sennin had set out before her mind was reregistering what was happening. There were many things that interested her, but there was one in particular that caught her attention. It was titled The Abilities Given and showed all the things the Jūbi had taught him. One told of how the ten-tailed beast taught the Rikudou Sennin how to tell if someone were lying. It shocked Kushina and made tears fall from her eyes.

Her daughter really was lying to her.

Kushina flipped a few more pages, gripping the journal in her hands as she reached the Summons page. There were nine in total, but two caught her interest. The first one she had seen, the one with two heads who had helped her son. She took the group towards her brother who was protecting her son. Kushina couldn't look at it anymore, shutting it as her hands came to her mouth to stifle her sobs. She was upset and here is why:

Her little angel had been lying to her for two months.

She'd kept her secret from the family even after people were going after him.

The Jūbi had picked her baby to hold a burden like no other.

She was confused.

Kushina didn't know what to do. She glanced over the shivering girl whose heart beat was too low and let a shaky breath out. "No matter what, she's still my baby." She smiled at her thought, "No matter what, I'm never letting her go. I love her too much." She got up from her seat beside the window and hovered over her daughter, a small smile playing on her red lips. She touched her cold cheek with her fingertips, unconsciously wondering when she'll wake. The woman leaned down and kissed her forehead, "I love you, Narumi, no matter what."

Naomi and Menma sat in the darkness, staring at each other. They shared a room on the second floor, their twin beds opposite of each other on different walls. They'd been sent home almost four hours ago, their punishment finally being put into action. The two kids couldn't sleep, not with so many thoughts swirling inside their heads. The redhead and ravenette were, to be blunt, sad. They'd just been grounded for a month, their parents were furious and upset with them, and to top it off, their little sister was in the hospital.

"I wish Dad didn't send up home." Menma spoke quietly.

"Why?" Naomi questioned, her sleep deprived mind not calculating every time detail.

The youngest in the room sighed, "I really wanted to be near Narumi when she woke up."

"The nurse said he wouldn't wake up for a few days, maybe even a week." She mumbled.

He groaned, "None of this makes sense."

The other yawned, "Yeah, you could say that again."

"None of this makes sense." Menma stated again.

"That's..." Naomi sighed, dragging a lazy hand down her face, "...not what I meant."

"Sorry."

Their eyes met, blue to blue. "I miss her." Naomi said after a few seconds of silence.

"Same." The night went on in the silence of the two sitting in the darkness, feeling sad.

"Namikaze-chan." The Jūbi said aloud.

"Yeah?"

The Ten-Tailed beast grinned, "How are you feeling now?"

Narumi yawned and continued to cuddle with the Jūbi's tail, "I'm still kind of cold... and tired."

The not-so-monster chuckled lowly, "What you decided earlier, to use my chakra to save those two, was very noble; don't you think?"

"I just didn't want them to hurt." The blonde stated honestly.

"You know, child, you could have died?" He questioned, honestly curious.

"Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter." Narumi smiled, "Da-Da says that all the time. I've memorized it!"

"Want to hear a story?" The Jūbi asked.

"Yes please!"

"Once upon a time, there was a boy who was always called a soulless freak and nobody loved him. He, however, loved everyone around him and cared for them all. Even though everyone hated him, he lived to please and save everyone around him. No one thanked him and when a civil war came around, he fought for them all. He saved hundreds, maybe thousands. Still, no one cared, but he didn't care." The Jūbi smiled at the story, "He died protecting civilian child of his clan. He was proud of how he spent his life and after his death, everyone started to appreciate him. This man's name was Theodore Nii."

"Why did you tell me that story?" Narumi asked, her head turning to the left slightly.

"You remind me of him sometimes." He nodded to his own words, "The way you always want to help everyone you meet." The blonde smiled at his words and yawned. He snuggled closer to the beast and started to drift to sleep.

Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.
