I was sweating profusely.
Sprinting as fast as my feet could take me, I clumsily dodged anything that prevented me from distancing myself from them.
And I broke some valuable vase along the way. Great.
My eyes were a frantic mess, hair bouncing like a frustrated child eager to get a peek through towering heights of those around him. As if fire was subtly caressing my skin, my body danced at a ridiculously off pace. I didn't know where to go, I was at a dead end.
They were here, taking a threatening step towards me.
My dear Luna, help me!
"What the hell is happening here?"
They faltered in their steps, breaths hitching at the uninvited interruption. I let out an exasperatedly relieved sigh and gave Storm a grateful smile.
His eyes were blazing with bewilderment, head titled by a small margin to the side and arms crossed over his chest intimidatingly.
My mind was blurring into a dreamy state of his disturbing charm.
They were pushing each other forward with hushed whispers - nobody wanting to explain the situation to their Alpha. Storm stomped his impatient foot lightly, urging them to say something immediately.
"We were just cooking-"
"She wasn't dancing with us-"
"A vase was broken and-"
Storm rubbed his temples and growled out, silencing their simultaneous reasoning.
He diverted his gaze towards me and I let out a light but nervous laugh, "I don't dance," I stuttered.
It has been a week since I was introduced to the pack. When he explained my existence, a chorus of shocked gasps and violent whispers grew among the crowd.
I saw him briefly glance at me with alarm and turned to look at the pack in spite, "Silence!" His eyes glazed over and so did the eyes of the others.
I felt left out while they mindlinked one another and awkwardly fumbled with my dress, leaving creases on its once smoothed fabric.
Probably to keep her a secret from me.
"But that was a great song!" Bloom reasoned out. Her sisters, Tecna and Musa, eagerly nodded in agreement.
Storm raised a brow and hummed sarcastically, "I'm sure you all can cook in peace without needing Yzavel to dance with you." They retracted with sheepish smiles.
"And please sweep the broken vase off while you're at it."
___________
It was a swirl of darkness around me.
No, literally. We were doing perfectly fine with cooking dinner and there were no traces of a broken vase around anymore, when someone suddenly attacked me from behind with a cloth and wrapped it around my head.
I felt Tecna's prying arms drag me towards a room and heard her shuffling about before dropping some kind of fabric on my hands.
"I'm not doing kinky stuff with you, Tecna," I deadpanned.
"Goddess, that's a flipping dress, Yz!"
_____________
"For the last time, I'm not killing you!" Khal whispered quite violently with a tinge of frustration and amusement.
I scowled at him and tripped on something. Khal wasn't quick enough to catch me, so I stumbled down the soiled ground harshly. I think I cut my palm.
Instead of helping me up, he quite frankly just let out an outrageous laugh, "What the fuck, Yzav. You literally tripped on air!"
If I could see him now, I'd bet his eyes were also laughing with tears.
Groaning, I hauled myself up and moved my arms around like I was swimming on air. This caused him to laugh harder.
"Just tell me where we're going!"
There was a short pause before I heard him sigh, "Look, Yzav. I know you and Storm haven't had a moment yet, and you've been here for about a week now. I also know you know why he's trying to avoid you. I just hope you understand his...situation."
It's true. I only saw Storm in the morning when I wake up and occasionally, but he never stopped to have time for me.
He was fighting the mate bond so much that even my wolf, Bella, became so depressed that she decided to recede into the farthest back of our mind.
And to top it off, I haven't shifted since I got here, which was kind of endangering. It wasn't that I didn't want to. I couldn't.
Bella has been silent. Too silent.
"And because of that, me and the other pack members decided it was time we took matters into our own hands! If Storm's going to continue being slower than a snail, than we will be the turtle that's faster than a snail?" Khal ended his speech with a question, uncertain with his comparisons.
I stiffled a laugh and gave him a satirical nod, "Yeah. Sure, Khal."
Sensing the powerful aura radiating through near us, I was both anxious and excited with what Storm's reaction was gonna be.
"What the fuck is this?" Khal's hand on my back that was ushering me towards what I think would be a chair, froze and trembled slightly. Frowning, I proceeded to sit, but landed on the ground.
A short scream fell upon my lips with my heart dropping a millisecond. Storm's ears caught this, and I heard the harsh sound of his chair screeching back and angrily falling over.
"What happened to Yzavel? Fuck, I'm taking this blindfold-"
"No!"
Just how many people were here?
Probably, almost the whole pack was here and witnessed my embarrassing fall. I touched my heated cheeks and attempted to fan them down.
"Let's just all calm down and let the lady sit properly," Suzy said. I slowly - and this time, surely - sat down and felt fingers untangling the knot on the blindfold.
"Wow," was all I could utter.
Along the forest's path where we treaded on, enchanting wee lamps lined up as a guide to where I was currently seated. Fairy lights smiled down with their twinkling lights on the makeshift gazebo's ceiling, casting a romantic ambience to the place.
Pumpkin-scented candles adorned the set table and I turned to look at Khal with squinted eyes.
Were they trying to make us mate?
All things pumpkin-scented arouse men.
He had the audacity to wink at me with a knowing smirk, "Have fun, kids!"
