Hey.

So, this would be their first date. It's a very fluffy chapter.

The song they sing (although only a snippet of It) is called Something's Gotta Give by All Time Low, it's an amazing song and it's up above if anyone wants to listen to It, which i would recommend.

Okay, that's It.

I hope you enjoy!

It's today. Today is the day.

Friday. The day Travis and I have our first date.

I'm so nervous. Is it normal to be this nervous? I haven't felt like this since my last high school presentation.

I can feel my heart rate picking up and I close my eyes, trying to remember the breathing exercises my therapist taught me.

It's only a date.

A date with Travis. Travis, who I've known for forever. Travis who said yes to this. Travis who wants this, too.

It's only a date.

I try to calm myself but I can feel my hands starting to get clammy and my body stiffen. I should go get my friends before I slip into full panic mode.

It's only a date.

I walk to the beach, knowing I'll find all of them gathered there together.

"Katie! Over here," I turn to see Piper waving at me.

I smile, and walk towards her. I can feel my anxiety already giving way to excitement.

I sit next to Calypso, who promptly starts to braid my hair, gently. She has a way of making me feel safe under her kind touch; the way that girl always knows exactly what I need is almost scary.

I look around and see Miranda and Annabeth laughing in the water, Annabeth's usually bouncy curls plastered to her back, nearly matching Miranda's hair in color. Piper is sitting next to me and Calypso, Hazel, who's staying here for a couple of weeks, is at the shore, screaming halfheartedly at Miranda for splashing her, while Rachel laughs at her original ways of swearing.

I smile, it's barely been two minutes and they're already making me feel better without even knowing it. Gods, I love these girls.

"Hey, Kates. Want help with your date?" grins Rachel. I laugh at her bluntness, but I'm not surprised. She's always this straight to the point.

I nod slowly, letting Cal's hands adjust to the movement, smiling back at her.

"I need all the help I can get. I'm a hot mess."

"Damn right you're hot," laughs Piper, not missing a beat.

"Poor Jason doesn't know what he's gotten himself into," smiles Calypso, shaking her head, "Always hitting on everyone. What are Annabeth and I going to do with you?"

Annabeth and Calypso had talked when Leo brought her back from her island, and though what they said still remains a secret to campers, but more than one claims to have seen Calypso holding a sobbing Annabeth, a rare sight at camp. They soon bonded over their shared love of books, owls, and Piper McLean.

"Yeah, Pipes! I thought I was your favorite girlfriend!" Annabeth calls back from the water, and I can practically hear the grin on her face.

"Of course you are! Always and forever, Annabeth Chase!"

"Stop sweet talking me with book titles, Piper, or I might do something drastic!"

Rachel and Calypso laugh, and Hazel shakes her head. These two are impossible.

"Ahem. Not to be narcissistic, she says as she's about to be narcissistic, but i have a date! And I need help. Badly."

They all nod, and after gathering around me in a loose circle, they start to discuss outfits and jewelry - knowing Calypso already has a braid in mind - and end up favoring a casual, icicle blue dress and a silver necklace with a little cat charm that Hazel gave me around a year ago.

My hair is perfectly pulled back in a beautiful fishtail braid that falls over my right shoulder, and Rachel does my makeup in a simplistic way that seems effortless, but I know I could never do it.

I smile and hug them; they are truly the best friends I could ask for.

Not long after, Travis comes to pick me up, dressed in jeans and a blue polo shirt that matches his eyes nearly perfectly.

I may have forgotten how to breathe.

"Checking me out, Katie-kat?" he grins, leaning in.

Heat makes its way to my face, and for a moment I seriously consider the possibility of spontaneous combustion.

I can see the front pages now:

"Girl in Long Island catches fire against all laws of science upon seeing her date."

"Shut up," I groan, smacking him on the arm.

"Well, for the record, I think you look gorgeous," he kisses my cheek and turns away, as if he didn't just release hundreds of butterflies into my stomach.

I follow him, cursing my easily flustered personality, and try - not very successfully - to keep myself together.

"C'mon," he says, leading the way out of camp.

"Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise," he grins, throwing his hands in the air dramatically.

"Oh Gods."

"Hey! I asked Chiron for permission and everything! You're going to love it," he beams.

"Sure you did."

"It's true!" he exclaims, pressing a hand against his chest in faux-offense, "Your lack of faith in my person wounds my fragile heart, Katie-kat. I do not know how I shall go on with this cursed knowledge planted so cruelly in my brain."

I laugh. I almost forgot about his theatrics.

"Okay, okay. But this better be good," I point a finger at him menacingly, although I fail to contain my gleeful smile.

"It will be, I promise," he responds, getting into the car.

The drive lasts twenty minutes, but it feels like five.

Travis puts on a playlist, and since we seem to have the same taste in music, the songs are blaring and we're doing some of the worst harmonizing I've ever heard.

"Feeling like a nervous wreck,

living on my last paycheck.

I'm a cliché in a song,

and everybody's singing along."

Travis and I nod our heads along to the beat, and before I know it, he pulls over in front of a huge field.

A sunflower field.

I snap my head around in surprise. This was the same field where I met Grover eight years ago. I love this place.

"How did you know?"

"I have my resources," he winks, "Come on, let's have some fun."

I smile and follow him into the field. It's even more gorgeous than what I remembered.

The yellow flowers stretch into the sky, light beaming on their green leaves like shining emeralds. I look around and feel a smile tugging at my lips. This is the prettiest place I've ever been to.

Suddenly I have an idea, and I can almost feel the little lightbulb light up on top of my head.

"Hey Trav, can we plant one?"

"Sure," he speaks with no hesitation, though his brows furrow, "But why?"

I inhale, not wanting to sound stupid. The truth is I do have a reason; it's the same reason I work in the strawberry fields more than my other siblings, it's always what I've associated my affinity with plants to, more than being a child of Demeter.

"Um, it's kind of dumb, but I've always liked the idea of creating a new life, you know? I'm responsible for a whole new living thing, something that will lighten up another person's day, just like it lit up mine. No matter what, there will be this one, living, growing, gorgeous thing, and I'm the reason it's alive. It feels like I've brought something beautiful to the world, my little grain of sand to make everything a little brighter. Something that will live on and make this place prettier even if I'm not here to."

I catch Travis staring at me, and feel blush creeping up on my face. I must have sounded so weird. Oh Gods. Why did I say all that?

"Sorry, that was weird," I quickly add, smiling nervously.

"What? No, no, It wasn't, at all, really. I think It was really beautiful, actually," he answers shyly.

"So, what do you say? Want to plant a sunflower seed?"

He smiles, nodding, and takes a little bag of seeds from his back pocket.

"I may or may not have thought ahead."

"Of course you did
