Chapter 2 : Alone.

Warning : mentions of abuse, depression, homophobia, adultery, alcoholism and smoking.

If Patton Hart was honest with himself, he hated his life.

Most people believed his life to be perfect but his parents were far from that.

His mother, Lucy Hart, was abusive, verbally more then physically, she was also openly homophobic, making it hard for Patton who was gay.

His father, Marty Hart was physically abusive when he was home, usually he was out sleeping with other women and drinking. He too was homophobic.

Both his parents smoke and drank, leading him to hide in his small and damp bedroom.

Patton sighed and looked down, seeing the cockroach that lived in his ceiling, "hello Mary."

Mary was his only friend, "how was your day?" He asked quietly, bring out his notebook and began on homework, "that's good. What did you do?"

He stayed silent as if listening to her as he wrote down a science equation, god he hated science.

There was a slamming door from downstairs followed by a crash, it was Marty, easily. If Marty wanted to kill Patton he would have years ago.

Patton quietly put everything down and snuck over to his light switch, having memorised where all the creeks were.

He turned off his light and crept to bed and lay down in the dark, his eyes closed.

His door swung open, the smell of tobacco smoke and alcohol filled his nostrils, but he stayed still.

Heavy foot steps walked across the floor, then leaned down to the teens face.

It was defiantly his father checking on him, he smelt the smoke and heat from the cigaret in Marty's mouth and when he did nothing to acknowledge his father, the male left, slamming the door.

Patton's eyes shot open and let out a sigh of relief and turned to his side, getting some 'fresh' oxygen back into his lungs.

He didn't know how much longer he could cope.
