Chapter 4

~Warning: This chapter contains talk of topics such as gun violence.~

It was if time went too fast if you asked Tobias for his opinion. One minute it felt like they were cuddling as they looked at the stars, the next they were at the airport waiting for David to board his flight. They had spent most of the day discussing times that they would call each other, which ended up being 10:00pm for David and 7:00am for Tobias. The huge time difference meant that they couldn't spend too much time talking to each other as Tobias would be getting ready for school. Although both boys were saddened by this thought, they weren't able to find any better time without one of them having to stay up really late for the other.

Unfortunately, the moment that Tobias was dreading came. The moment where David would leave him for five months, as he would come back for winter break, only to go back for another five months. The blonde haired boy said goodbye to his family and Felix before turning to his boyfriend.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't spend more time with you before I had to leave. Just remember, I love you. Everything will be alright, okay?" David pulled Tobias into a bittersweet kiss. "Goodbye. I'll see you for winter break, okay?" He turned and walked towards the gate.

Tobias opened his mouth as to call out to David but no words came out. He wanted to reach out for him but he couldn't seem to ever raise his arm. The brown haired boy bit his lip in slight frustration. He had practiced countless times on how he was going to say goodbye but in the end he couldn't do it. He let silent tears fall as the gates closed and they headed back home. Slight rain fell from the sky and lightly landed on the pavement. Entering his house, he headed straight to bed, as he was tired from crying so much. He fell into a deep sleep.

David and him were back in that park. The one where he had confessed. The sun was setting as they sat holding hands under one of the many trees. Tobias smiled at the other, content with the way they were now. He was happy to be with him. The one he loves. He wished this wouldn't end. He wished they would stay together forever. He wished for this moment to be timeless. He wished that everything would stop and stay as it were.

Tobias awoke with a shout from his mother calling him to dinner. He realized that it was just a dream. A wonderful dream. Even though it felt so realistic. Reality at that moment felt like a terrible nightmare without David. Oh, how he would do anything to go back into that beautiful dream. Instead, he walked down to eat dinner in his nightmare.

After dinner, Tobias laid down in bed thinking. He wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. He wouldn't be able to go back to that dream. Not without David by his side.

Meanwhile, David was worried. He had tried his best to hide it until he was on the plane because he didn't want to worry his family and especially Tobias. Thoughts kept cycling throughout his head, things like 'What if my English isn't good enough?' and 'What if people there don't like me?' He was beginning to wonder why he wanted to go to America in the first place. The place was unfamiliar and scary from some of what he has seen online. He has seen many posts online about school shootings, armed robberies, and in general about how innocent people came into a terrifying situations involving people with guns.

One of his online friends had told him about how he had accidentally cut off someone when driving. Apparently, it really pissed off the lady that got cut off. At the stoplight, the lady began yelling at him and he accidentally pissed her off even more. Eventually, she pulled out a gun. It was pure luck that the light turned green and that they were on a road with a few other cars. David didn't want to think about what would've happened if his friend wasn't lucky.

He knows that every place has its own dangers but, from what he knows, it was really easy to obtain guns in the country. Although it seemed that half the population didn't care as it was apart of their "freedom", he couldn't bring himself to understand it. He didn't understand how the country could allow pretty much anyone such a dangerous weapon even if the person only used it in self defense. Even if his online friend tried to explain it to him, it still didn't make sense to him.

He kept thinking, 'What if I get caught up in one of those situations?' especially since he was going to a highly populated area in America too. Of course, these situations weren't exclusive to America. These situations could happen anywhere but, going to another country really made him think about these kind of things. He sighed as he tried to take his mind off of it.

_____

(A/N:Hope I didn't scare you with that warning at the beginning. The story about David's online friend is based off an actual thing that happened to one of my classmates [Obviously, with somethings left out and added]. Gun violence is a serious issue in America and it shouldn't be taken lightly. Don't worry, next chapter will be a more happier / brighter chapter. Tobias' part of the chapter was heavily inspired by the song 'Timeless' by NCT U. Which just happens to be my favorite song from them aside from 'Yestoday'. Well, I'm done ranting. Hope you have a good day/night <3)
