Receive Your Blessing: Follow Instructions

And so at last the Tabernacle was finished. The Israelites had done everything just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
...
According to all that the Lord had commanded Moses, so the people of Israel had done all the work. And Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, so had they done it. Then Moses blessed them.
Exodus 39:32, 42-43

Have you ever tried a DIY to make something? Most DIY's come with instructions that help you to put it together. Ignoring these instructions could make for faulty equipment. In this way, there are many parts of your life that need guidance, too.

Life holds many important decisions. Some could be small, like deciding what to get at the grocery store. Some others could be about pursuing education or jobs. Some decisions lead us to seeking advice from the wrong people. You want to trust God with everything.

In Exodus 39, God gave specific instructions to the Israelites for building the tent of meeting. In 39:43, Moses blessed them for following God's instructions. If not for God's instructions, who knows what kind of place of worship the Israelites could have built. If they hadn't heeded God's word, they would have missed out on being blessed.

In the Bible, God has instructions for every area of our lives. If we will follow them, we will never regret it. All of us know people who have wrecked their own lives. This happens when we try to run our own lives without God. When you need to make decisions, read God's instructions. If you don't know where to look, find a friend or pastor who can help you. Following His instructions will lead to a blessing.

Then the men of Judah came to David and anointed him king over the people of Judah.
When David heard that the men of Jabesh-gilead had buried Saul, he sent them this message: “May the Lord bless you for being so loyal to your master Saul and giving him a decent burial. May theLord be loyal to you in return and reward you with his unfailing love! And I, too, will reward you for what you have done.
2 Samuel 2:4-6

David had been waiting a long time to be king of Israel. From the time Samuel anointed him King, to the time of Saul's death, was about twenty years. God had finally fulfilled His promise.

It took twenty years for David to finally receive his blessing. Have you ever prayed to God asking for a specific thing? Over and over you pray for it, expecting God to answer. Some people wait a lifetime before their blessing comes. It can be a painful wait, and doubt may surface, but just know that the Lord heard you the first time and that He will honor your faith! In my example, I had prayed for something when I was younger. I prayed for it so much, and somewhere along the way I gave it to God and life made me forget about it.

God's timing is perfect, and when I was older I saw it come to pass. Your prayer may not be answered right away, but it will be so long as you trust in Him!

God will not rob you of good things, and He will not fail us. And when it's answered, it will come as a blessing.

Remember the wonders He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He pronounced,
Psalm 105:5

But I forgot! It's a loaded phrase. It happens a lot, and when it does we feel bad. Sometimes when we forget, the action can have severe consequences. Missed deadlines. Late papers. Life will make us busy, and we'll forget things because we just can't keep up.

We can get so busy that we start to make excuses. We apologize to people, and the same goes for God. When we forget to pray or study, we feel bad.

Did you know the Israelites forgot about God too? Somehow they had forgotten their history. They had forgotten how God had saved them (Psalm 106).

Sometimes, we forget the miracles and the power God uses to provide for us. We must remember all the blessings God has already given us! The food you eat, the clothes on your back, the house you live in, is all because of God's grace! He has blessed us, and we must remember the blessings to come. (Psalm 105)

The Lord, who is always thinking about us, will bless us.
Psalm 115:12

God knows our needs before we ask Him to meet them! For what do you need help and protection today? Tell God you trust Him to look out for you.

Those who put their trust in God will be rewarded. He promises to help and protect those who follow Him.

Assignment: Why not start a daily "thank" time when you praise God for all the blessings from Him!

Lord thank you for blessing me and thank you for the blessings to come! I want to remain faithful to you and trust in you always. I want to be your good and honorable servant. Amen.
