"God, I can't..." -Excuses

"God, I can't do anything for you because of the situation I'm in."

"I'm not outspoken, Lord, how do you expect me to go out and witness?"

"I still have my whole life ahead of me, I'll serve you later. Let me have fun!"

Excuses, a reason or explanation put forward to defend or justify a fault or offense. We all use them in most situations. When God wants to use them, some will form an excuse to get out of what God wants them to do.

Did you know Moses tried excuses with God? If you read in Exodus, you'll come to know Moses' story. He became a powerful man in God! But in the beginning, Moses gave excuses to the Lord. He didn't want to do what God had planned for him. The Lord instructed Moses to lead the people of Israel out of slavery and into the land God had promised them.

Yet Moses was full of excuses.

God heard His people's cries, and Moses was the one He chose to go forth to lead His people out.

Moses asked, "Why me?" (Exodus 3:11) "What if they don't believe you're God?" (3:13) "They won't listen to me" (4:1) "I don't speak very well" (4:10). It got to the point where Moses finally told God, "Lord, send someone else!" (4:13)

But God wanted him, and no one else. God knew that Moses could do it, and the same goes for each and every one of us. God knows what we can handle, and what we cannot. That's why He will never ask us to do something He knows we cannot do.

So though you may not speak well like Moses, God is not limited by that! Don't put limits on Him! There is no point in making excuses with God and His plan for you. Rejoice for what He has planned for you! Let Him use you. God can, and will, do amazing things through you. All you have to do is trust Him!

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Romans 1:20

After Moses stopped making his excuses, when he learned to trust God in ALL things, he did exactly what God asked of him. He led millions of people out of slavery and into their new home.

It was a long road, but God was right there with him, every step of the way.

Ask yourself: What excuses do you use with God? Why do you feel that God can't use you? Remember: God won't ask you to do anything He won't help you achieve!

Lord, I want to be able to do what you would have me to do. I do not want to form excuses with You, I want to be waiting and ready to hear from You. Lord help me to achieve everything by relying and trusting in You. Amen.
