Chapter 2

You were walking down the sidewalk next to Yoriichi, who kept his head low. He seemed to be watching his feet before he glanced up.

You on the other hand was looking around.

“Hey... May I ask why you paid for the meal despite me being able to?” You finally spoke up, curiosity hitting you like a bus.

The man shrugs, still quiet.

‘Clearly he isn't much of a talker... I wonder if he's partially deaf... But earlier, he was just fine with responding... Maybe he's just a quiet man?’ Was your only few thoughts. You thought it was latter, that he was just a quiet guy.

“Eh... Well, I thank you again for that. Goodness, I owe you a lot.” You laugh nervously.

“Is there... Any desserts you want to try?” He finally initiated, his maroon-red eyes locking on a matcha store. You two had been walking for a while. Crowds went around you both as you had stopped to stand next to him.

Your E/C eyes focus on the matcha store he was looking at. “Is the matcha here good?”

The male nods. He then looks at you, as if asking if you wanted to go to it. You look at him, not knowing how he asked questions. “We may as well.” You say. He then gestures you to follow him, and so you did.

He held the door open for you as you trot in. He then entered in behind you. You decided to go to the quick serve station. Yoriichi quietly followed you, looking over the cooler himself.

You didn't seem to notice him until you turned your head. You jolt back a bit, causing him to step off to the side. “Oh my God–” You put a hand over your heart, which was acting as if it was going to make you go through cardiac arrest. Thankfully it went back to beating normally.

“Sorry.” He spoke shortly, finally finding the thing he wanted. He opened up the cooler, reaching in and grabbing the medium package. He looked it over to make sure it was the right one.

You stared for a moment, only for him to offer it to you. You blink. “Why are you offering it to me-” You query, looking at him.

“You're staring. I'm assuming you want this one specifically.” He responds in a neutral tone, only for you to shake your head as you point at what you actually want.

“No, I wanted to try this one. Don't worry.”

Yoriichi follows your gaze, reaching in and grabbing that exact snack. It was a quick one. He shut the cooler after giving you the one you wanted. His expression stayed neutral the whole time.

“This where you're staying?...” He inquires as you both reached the front of the hotel. He looked up at it. “You must be getting good pay.” He comments.

You sigh as you cross your arms. Both of you had tried multiple drinks and foods at a lot of places. Your stomach cramped, since it didn't like being overfed.

“Yeah, good pay. But the job is so damn boring. All I do is sit and organize paperwork all day other than printing, copying, answering calls, and other stuff. I've been thinking about quitting and getting into another job.” You reply, shrugging.

“Oh.”

Both of you went quiet again, until you broke the silence. Well, it wasn't exactly silent. Cars still drove, crowds walked by and there was plenty of driving.

“I'll probably message you tomorrow.” You said, going to walk inside.

It took a couple of delayed seconds, but Yoriichi spoke up.

“Is it a business trip?” He inquires, causing you to stop in your tracks and turn to him.

“Actually, yes. We're staying around for two months, if you're wondering.” You spoke with honesty.

He nods softly before waving as he started to walk away. He then disappeared into the crowd. You watched as he just left. You couldn't get his face out of your head. His voice, those earrings...

“He's a sweet guy.” You spoke out loud, turning to the hotel and walking in. You went to the stairs, taking those as you didn't want to wait for the elevator. You got yourself up to the fourth floor, one of your co-workers walking up to you.

“Kon'nichiwa, Y/N-San! Where have you been?” She asks, tilting her head.

“Out and about.” You didn't look her way as you walked down the corridor. The carpet was a simple grey and the walls were white. The ceiling was also white, but bright lights lit up the hallway. Some plants decorated different parts of the corridor and painting hung on different parts of the wall.

“Ooooh. Where? Did you see anyone?” She asks, raising a brow. “You had mentioned two years ago that you wanted to meet a person.”

“Not that it's any of your concern, but I went to restaurants with a guy. He's a sweetheart, doesn't talk much though. I was the main one starting the conversations and he usually just nodded here and there. I felt like I was being annoying.” You answer, reaching your door. You pull out your key card.

“Ooo. Was he cute?” She smirks, as if she was pushing you for an answer to try and tease you.

You froze, turning your gaze to the female. You furrow your brows in slight annoyance. “Really, Mila? You're asking if he's cute?”

“Well, is he?”

“I suppose.” You answer solemnly, turning to the door. You scan the key card against the scanner, the door clicking as it unlocked. You tug the handle, pushing the door open.

“I want pictures!” You heard Mila say until you shut the door, locking it.

You sigh from exasperation, then again you were also exhausted.

You trudge your way to the bathroom to do your thing. When finishing up with that, you sat on the bed. You threw your key card on the nightstand, digging your phone out of your pocket. You check the message notifications.

You now saw the 6 messages from your friend. You read them, before sending back a message.

‘I'm back at the hotel room. I met a cool guy.’

You texted then sent. You stared at your phone before exiting the app. You say your phone on the nightstand away from the key card. You shut off the lamp, laying down.

You couldn't help your thoughts. That... Guy. Yoriichi. Why was your brain so focused on him? You push away the thoughts, thinking it was just an attachment your brain made because he got to you before that stranger could.

Soon, your world became black.

...

You jump awake to loud knocking at your door. You sat up, rubbing your eyes as you went to get up. You took a wrong step, tripping over and hitting the floor.

“Tawagoto!” You shouted due to the sudden pain, standing up quickly as you rushed to the door. You swung it open, looking at your boss.

“The group meeting starts in a few minutes. Hurry up and get ready.” He spoke blankly, you nodding as he walked away to go bug your neighbour. You roll your eyes as you close your door.

You turn around, noticing the slightest bit of blue peeking through your curtains.

Today was going to be a long day. You could just feel it.
