Chapter 3

Hey, gurls!

Okay, not much to say right now, so let's just get to the book!

*Michelle POV*

As I walked to school, I watched the other people go about their business.

People exchanged casual greetings with everyone else.

If someone fell down, about ten other people helped them back up again.

Life was... well...

Perfect.

"Michelle," I heard suddenly, and I turned to see my best friend standing behind me.

"Hello, Amy," I replied, smiling, "I hope I didn't keep you waiting for very long."

"It's all right," she said, "You weren't that late."

"Still, I was late, and I apologize."

She looked like she was about to argue with me, but she quickly closed her mouth.

I reached into my bag and pulled out a couple pieces of grape-flavored chewing gum, handing one to Amy.

"Thank you," she said, sincere politeness easily noticeable in her words.

"You're welcome," I said, smiling despite the urge to roll my eyes.

Amy was my best friend, but she was also one of the few genuine Polites around here.

Polites were born to be Good citizens, because they're naturally good-natured and docile, even in the face of a heated argument.

For Amy, this was a very good thing, because she was the daughter of Mr. Kane Welbourn, the president of the Good town.

I, on the other hand, was the daughter of one of the Instructors, Samuel Smith. As such, I was told (multiple times) that I would end up following in his footsteps as an Instructor.

I didn't mind too much, but a part of me wished I could be free to choose my own occupation.

"Michelle?" Amy called, bringing me back to reality.

"Sorry, what?"

"I asked if you finished the homework for Instructor Williams."

I smiled, pretending that I hadn't just been thinking about insubordination.

"Of course," I replied, "What do you take me for, a Bad Girl?"

We both laughed as we raced to school.

After all, Good Girls are never late.

A/N: By now, people are either irritated at me, or just shaking their heads at my incredibly stupid ideas.

IDK, and I don't know if I care, either.

But I also know that I can't let a day of bad thoughts keep me from writing.

ANYWAY, what did you gurls think?

Luv you all! *blows kisses*
