patrick and pete don't say a word to each other.

they meet up, have dinner, and head down to the field where people have already laid out blankets and such.

only during the show do they talk.

the first firework is red, one big burst that sends light all across the field and the sound sends pete inching closer to patrick until he's huddled into his chest.

"fireworks scare you?" patrick asks.

"a little," pete breathes.

patrick only smiles and pulls him closer, "i won't let them hurt you."

pete smiles and after a moment where a second firework goes off, a bright yellow, he inches his lips closer to patrick's.

the green firework goes off as their lips touch and the rest of the night is lost in the moment.
