Chapter 5
The tires on my bike are still flat, so I have to walk home, which is along way away. I can't make up my mind if this day has been horrible or not. My Thursday shift ends around seven, so I am home around seven forty-five.
My house is dark, and the porch light is off. Usually mom leaves it on for me. This is strange. Is she not here?
I walk through the front door, because the back door is dangerous, as we experienced from the mess up last night.
I walk up the stairs to check if anyone's home. I knock on the bedroom door of Alex and Ryan, but I cannot go in. No one replies.
I walk down the hall to my mom's room. I open the door silently.
Big mistake.
Mom and Chris are both in bed together, fortunately they don't notice me and I run away, downstairs as fast as I can without throwing up. Why does this happen to me?
Stuff like this has happened before, though. No, I'm not used to it, but when it happens, I'm not as shocked as I was the first time... when I walked in and they weren't covered in blankets.
Sick at the thought, and bored out of my mind, I walk outside, I decide to call Alex on the phone. He has his own cruddy cell phone, like me.
"Hey, Alex?" I say when I hear it stop ringing. Of course, it took a few rings... a bunch, actually, for him to pick up his stupid phone.
"Hey...Tim?" I hear his voice, but I also hear a lot of random noise in the background.
"Where are you at? Why is it so loud?"
"Check this: I'm at this rockin' awesome party!"
"What." I don't even ask like it's a question, for I am so filled with horror.
"Yeah, it's for a senior... I think his name's Shawn." Shane. Darn.
"Come on, Alex, you do not want to be there. It's horrible."
"Shut up. I think some girl's into me. She told me to meet her upstairs." DARN.
"Alex...Alex, listen to me. Do NOT meet her there because she will eventually get pregnant and your dad will kill you," I hiss into the phone, hoping he heard everything.
"Why should I listen to you? All you ever do is bring me down and I just want to live. You never live. I'm not going to do it with her! So let me stay, because you're not the boss." And with that, he hangs up. Darn it.
There's only one thing left to do. And I'm not going to like it.
