Prologue

The story all started one late summer night when Giselle Durand decided that she couldn't stand her family another second and proceeded to leave the hotel that they had been staying in and ran down to the late-night muggle diner that was still opened a few streets down.

Such a decision had been made after a long day of arguing within her family in which Giselle found herself extremely exasperated. This was supposed to be a nice family holiday where the Durand's would not have to worry what was happening with grandpa's worsening condition back home in France.

They would have to go back eventually with the two oldest Durand's due to head back to Beauxbatons in only a few weeks and the youngest due to start their first year there.

However, it seemed in such an example of despair at grandpa's condition as well as everyone's such differing opinions that no such peace would be able to be obtained so easily.

However, in Fred Weasley's case of finding his own way to the same diner, it was a different situation altogether.

His family had only just relocated to the gloomy and dreary 12 Grimmauld Place to assist the Order of the Phoenix as the news of Voldemort's return refused to spread. The house was full of dark tapestries and dust hard packed into the wooden floor. There was nothing appealing about such a house.

Even Fred's mother, Molly Weasley, who always seemed to know exactly what to say was at a loss of words.

The Weasley family, as well as a few extras, had taken to cleaning up the grim house every day non-stop. It left most members of the house exhausted, so Fred was able to easily sneak out at night as everyone was fast asleep.

He longed to be outside and as he was now of age and could easily apparate, sneaking out of the house never seemed so easy.

The only question was where? He needed to stay close enough that if his family did realize that he was missing, they could still find him. But far enough still that memories of the macabre house could leave his mind if only for a few moments.

As Fred turned the corner, he silently grinned to himself. A muggle diner. Perfect. Inconspicuous enough that he could hide. Quickly hurrying over to the door, he pushed it open, the bright lights greeting him.
