Chapter Sixteen

Giselle Durand was sound asleep, tucked comfortably beneath the covers, dreams whirling around her head.

However, her peaceful state was soon interrupted by her body vigorously shaken, a voice hissing her name in her ear. Giselle blinked wearily in an attempt to get her senses up to date with everything that was happening only to notice Professor McGonagall standing beside her bed frame.

"Professor?" Giselle asked confused as she looked towards her Head of the House.

"You need to come with me, Miss Durand," McGonagall replied, not answering any of the questions that whirled around Giselle's head.

But Giselle wasn't going to complain, especially with McGonagall watching her every move, as she pushed herself out of bed, dressed in her pyjamas.

The two of them hurried down the corridor after corridor, and Giselle was quickly becoming less familiar with the route chosen by McGonagall.

"Where are we going, Professor?"

"You are heading towards the Headmaster's office."

"Why? Have I done something wrong?"

"There is no time for questions, Miss Durand." McGonagall continued, as the two of them reached a stone Gargoyle which Giselle assumed was the entrance into Dumbledore's office.

McGonagall quickly gave her the password that allowed entrance and without so much as a goodbye, she was hurrying back down the corridor towards the Gryffindor tower. Giselle's eyes followed the Professor until she turned the corner out of sight.

Entering into Headmaster's office, Giselle was met with the tired faces of Harry, Hermione and half of the Weasley family with Fred and George missing.

"What's going on?" Giselle asked into the silent room, her eyes frantically searching their worried faces searching for any answers.

"Please just wait, Miss Durand. We just have to wait for Mr and Mr Weasley before we will leave."

And almost upon cue, Fred and George finally entered the office, their hair sticking up everywhere, their own confused expressions directly matching the one Giselle displayed.

"What's happened?" Fred asked, as he and George walked over to where Giselle stood.

"Arthur Weasley was injured earlier this evening. You will be all leaving with me shortly, to stay at Sirius' house."

The tension in the room only grew as Fred and George learned of their father's predicament. However, Giselle's eyebrows creased in concern, she didn't know any Sirius's.

"As for you Miss Durand, your father wanted you to come with the rest of the group and will explain everything to you once you arrive," Dumbledore added, sensing the brunette's distress.

The group eventually gathered around the portkey placed in the middle of the room. Giselle's thoughts were still going at a million miles per hour and was so distracted the portkey very nearly left without her if Fred hadn't grabbed her hand and gently placed in on the portkey. She only had a second to suck in a deep breath before they vanished.

Giselle stumbled slightly as they reached their destination. No matter how many times she travelled by portkey, she would never be used to the sensation.

Her eyes scanned the dark residence they had arrived in, her confusion increasing as she couldn't see anyone she recognized, least of all her father.

The Weasley children were too distraught at the lack of information regarding Arthur's condition to notice Giselle's increasing confusion.

"This is Grimmauld Place. Headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix." Hermione tiredly informed Giselle, as her words struck something within her. She remembered an old story her father had once told her about the Order of the Phoenix.

The realisation eventually washed over her as a dark-haired man greeted them, before following Dumbledore in an attempt to speak to him.

"And that's Sirius." Hermione continued.

"Sirius Black?" Giselle clarified as Hermione nodded in response, watching her carefully almost like she was expecting a larger reaction.

"I always believed he was innocent anyway," Giselle said, with a small glance Hermione's direction before walking over to Fred and George who were angrily discussing with Sirius.

"We have to go to St. Mungo's."

"No, I'm really sorry. But you can't."

"You can't tell us where we are supposed to be!" Fred shouted, his anger rising.

"We can go wherever we want to!" George continued, his anger matching that of his brother's.

"I understand, but we can't go just yet." Sirius continued.

"No, you don't understand!" George yelled. "Our father is dying and you're telling us that we can't go see him!"

"I'm sorry but we can't," Sirius replied once more as Fred and George rolled their eyes before angrily settling in the living room. The others soon followed suit, leaving Giselle and Sirius as the only ones left near the front door.

"You must be Corentin's daughter," Sirius said more calmly turning towards the brunette. "Giselle, right?"

"That's me." Giselle responded with a smile before going to sit with the others in the living room, waiting for more information.
