Chapter Seventeen

Although the news that Arthur Weasley had eventually reached the teenagers crowded into the living room at Grimmauld Place, the lack of appearance from Molly Weasley and the fact that they were still barred from visiting St Mungo's, didn't alleviate much worry and fear.

Giselle had settled herself on one of the empty couches but eventually, her restlessness got to her, prompting her to pick herself up and help Sirius with supplying everyone blankets.

Despite Hermione's explanation and her introduction to Sirius, Giselle was still feeling slightly on edge within these unfamiliar surroundings and paid attention to every minuscule sound in case it was her father finally arriving.

She had just tucked herself back into the couch, her eyes gazing over the silhouettes bodies throughout the room when a large crack echoed through the living room.

Corentin Durand entered into the living room as second later, sending a slight nod in Sirius' direction before his eyes immediately found his daughter's.

Giselle had crossed the room in a second, wrapping her arms tightly around her father, not missing the way that the Weasley family looked back down dejected as Corentin's arrival instead of that of Mrs Weasley.

"Have you heard anything?" Sirius asked with a careful glance behind his shoulder.

"Nothing new other than Arthur will be fine. But I believe that news has reached you already." Corentin replied before gesturing down to his daughter in his arms. "Do you mind if I steal this one, I think an explanation is well overdue."

"I think she's been wanting a complete one since she arrived," Sirius replied with a chuckle before heading back into the kitchen, as Corentin and Giselle walked further up the staircase.

"Dad, what's going on?" Giselle questioned the second they sat down on the top step. "Hermione gave me some kind of explanation but I want to hear everything from you."

"Well this is Grimmauld Place, it's the former residence of the Black family and is now used as the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix."

"What is the Order of the Phoenix?" Giselle prompted.

"It's a secret organisation that Dumbledore founded in the First Wizarding War.  After the First War ended it was disbanded. Those were horrible times, Gi, I know I've told you a fair bit but losing friends and co-workers week after week, never gets easier. After it all ended, it still wasn't safe for Order members so I ran away to France where I met your mum." Corentin explained, carefully watching Giselle's reaction.

"What's happening now? Dumbledore's starting it up again?"

"Exactly. The Ministry is still rejecting Harry's claims, but the threat is still very real."

"How does this all tie into what happened with Mr Weasley tonight?"

"I can't explain that just yet, Gi. But I promise I will explain someday."

Giselle nodded in response before bringing her father into a hug. "I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that."

Corentin only smiled in response, tightening his grip on Giselle. It was her usual response when an information overload had been dumped on her, Giselle's first response would always be to check on the others around her.

The sound of the front door opening from downstairs distracted the two of them from their hug, soon followed by hurried footsteps up the stairs, stopping in front of them.

A woman with dark brown curls that were flying rapidly around her head, the most striking pair of blue-grey eyes that Giselle had ever seen landed on the Durand pair, a smile immediately crossing her face at the sight of the both of them.

"Corentin. Sirius mentioned you were around here somewhere." The woman greeted, as Corentin pushed himself off the step before pulling the woman in a hug.

Giselle watched the exchange with a deep line furrowed between her eyebrows, a look of utter confusion crossing her face and she searched her mind for any recognition of the woman. However, it didn't take long for the woman's attention to fall onto her.

"And you must be Giselle. I've heard a lot about you." She said, before turning back to Corentin. "But honestly it's a slight outrage that I'm only meeting her now."

Corentin chuckled, his gaze settling on his daughter who was still watching the conversation warily. "This is an old friend of mine."

"Geez, I'm not that old." The woman muttered, which brought a slight smile to Giselle's face.

"This is Estrella Quinn."

"It's lovely to meet you, Estrella," Giselle replied, whirling the name around her mind. But as she did so, she also watched warily as Corentin and Estrella laughed and joked around like they were children but Giselle still had no clue who on earth was Estrella Quinn.

It hadn't been that long since her parents had separated and the last thing Giselle had expected her father to do was to move on so quickly but as the pair in front of her continued down the stairs, Giselle was quickly becoming less convinced.

Upon the arrival of Mrs Weasley assuring her children that there truly wasn't anything to worry about, the Weasley family, Harry and Hermione had left immediately to St Mungo's as they were now able to go visit Mr Weasley and just like that Grimmauld Place was eerily quiet once more.

Giselle immediately starting packing up the disarray that the living room had quickly fallen into to, folding blankets, straightening cushions. She had been so absorbed in her work that she hardly noticed someone else had joined her.

"It was really nice to meet you earlier, Giselle." The voice carried throughout the room, as Giselle turned to meet Estrella's gaze.

"It was nice to meet you too," Giselle responded, her politeness dropping as the question she had been pondering for the last hour burst out. "Are you and my father dating?"

Estrella froze, looking up at the teenager in shock before a small smirk crossed her face at the question. "No, no definitely not."

"Oh okay." Giselle breathed. "Sorry for asking."

"Don't be. I would be the exact same if I had been dumped in an unfamiliar house surrounded by mostly unfamiliar people." Estrella chuckled. "Well I actually was once, but that's a story for another time."
