Chapter 4

"You guys are finally here! I've been waiting since forever!" Abigail squealed.

"Well thanks to Summer........"

I clamped my hand over Heather's mouth and shot her a look. No way was she doing that.

Abi looked at both of us confused unaware of the small incident that had taken place a few hours before.

"Nothing", I said hurriedly, "we're really happy to be here too." I gave her a hug. Gosh, I was seeing her after so long. This is what happens when your friends live away from you.

She gave us a big smile and ushered us to come in. She was already wearing pink - a pink tank top with a pink mini skirt and pink flip flops. Had I worn that, I'd probably have looked funny as hell, but it was Abigail. Anything and everything looked good on her.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by her.

"Summer? Who's gotten into your thoughts?"

"Huh? Oh... nothing." We were in her room by now- not to forget, it was pink too.
I dumped my bag and sat on her bed.

"So there is a guy then..." Heather mused.

"Of course not. I was just thinking about how much fun we're gonna have."

"Oh is it?", asked Abigail, cheekily plopping herself on the bed.

"Yes", I turned to face Abi smiling, "it's been so long since we were together."

"Oh yes, there's so much to gossip about now that we're together." Heather said.

"Like?" I mused. Most of the time I was unaware of the things that were going on, so when something popped up, I was all ears.

"Like, Kyle Dawson is the new hotshot of our batch."

Kyle Dawson was the most good looking guy I'd ever laid my eyes on. His hair, his eyes, his jawline..... holy shit. Even at 15 he could make girls drool for him. Including me.

"I'm not surprised." Abi said, "I mean he does have the looks and all. But still, isn't my type."

"Neither mine, but I doubt he's our Summer's type either. I think she has someone else," Heather chuckled.

I shot up. I have someone else? Since when did that happen?

I frowned at her. "Who are you talking about?"

"Don't pretend to be so innocent Summer", Abi popped in. "We all know who it is." She playfully nudged me.

What the fuck?

"No I seriously don't know who you're talking about."

I guess the expression on my face convinced them that I was totally blank.

"Why your best friend of course!" laughed Heather and Abi nodded her head profusely.

I stared at them. First at Heather, then at Abigail, then back at Heather.

"You've gotta be kidding me," I said, slapping my palms on my thighs. "Hunter? You think I like Hunter?"

"Yeah who else? I mean you guys are always together," said Abi.

"So how does that make me like him?" Their logic was fantastic. Honestly.

"We see you blushing when you're with him", Heather giggled.

"Ewww noo! That's my cheeks burning with anger! He's always pissing me off!"

I laid down on the bed. "Guys seriously. Even if he's the only person on this planet left to like, I'd never ever ever like him. Plus, we've been together since we were practically born guys!"

"Okay okay." Abi raised her hands in surrender. "So who's your type?"

"Kyle Dawson."

They both walked closer and stood over me, eyebrows raised. I couldn't contain my giggles.

So much for a surprise.

I sat up straight. "I do like him, a teeny weeny bit. I mean he's good looking, intelligent, popular.. what else do you need right?"

"So you're part of the girls that drool when he passes by," chuckled Abi.

I could feel my cheeks flush. "Umm I'd rather not answer that," I smirked.

-----

Rest of the day went as planned, with us painting our nails... pink of course, then watching the entire Princess Diaries series a hundredth time with a huge bowl of popcorn and sodas. I wish life could remain this way!

We were making our beds when I suddenly remembered that I needed their advice on what to gift Hunter for his 16th birthday.

"Guys! I have absolutely no clue as to what to gift Hunter for his birthday."

"When is it again?" asked Heather giving me a cheeky look.

I frowned at her. Didn't I make myself clear? "31st. And it's like one and a half day away!" I wailed.

Abigail put her hands on her hips. "So what options are we considering here?"

"Umm", I scratched my head, "Books? Toys? A Watch?"

"He's not a kid that you'll give him toys. It's his sweet 16 for fuck's sake", Abi snapped, "and books are boring. Boring with a capital B."

I couldn't help but laugh. She was right though. Who on earth gives a 16 year old a toy? Do you even get toys for 16 year olds?

"I have an idea!" Heather beamed. "The Marvel Comic-con will be starting from the 1st. You could buy him tickets for that."

"But what if his parents already decide to buy him that?" I asked. It was possible that that could happen. I mean everyone knew how much he loved Marvel.

Heather looked at me as though she couldn't recognise me.

"What sort of question is that? Hunter is your best friend and his family is like your family! All you have to do is just walk in next door and tell his parents that's your idea so they know not to do the same. Simple!"

"Right. Of course."

"So Marvel Comic-con tickets it is!" Abi beamed.

What would I do without them honestly? I guess I'll never know.
