Chapter 16: Birthday Surprise

Isabelle's POV:

After telling the truth to Henry about the difficult parts of my life, it felt as if a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I didn't feel like I had to worry about our relationship anymore. And my life hasn't seemed so perfect in a long time.

And to top everything off my birthday will be coming up soon, and I will be turning 17!

Natalie has been begging to take me on a shopping spree and to throw a huge party for me on my birthday(July 14th)but I really didn't try to argue with her when she has her mind set on something, so I just agreed with her instead.

Life was good right now, Henry and I were finally boyfriend and girlfriend which sounds silly of me to think of right now but I can if I wanted to, and I haven't heard anything from Logan which was good. The last thing I needed was him and Henry go beating each other to a pulp again.

I need to forget about that though and focus on my birthday because apparently I 'needed' an entire new wardrobe when my birthday comes.

Natalie may be a great friend but when it comes to fashion I have no choice of my own and she basically becomes a dictator. What fun.

Natalie kept having to pull me along to all the stores of the local mall and since it was Saturday and there were no camp activities really, that meant a entire day of torture.

I have lost count of how many clothes I have tried on so far and I was getting tired from all the stores we have walked into.

Just when she was talking aimlessly about which skirt would look better on her, I noticed,through the glass windows, Henry come out of one of the stores.

What exactly was he doing here? I even asked him to come with us but he said he wanted to stay at camp with some of his friends. Finding him at the mall by himself now was just strange and made me start to wonder. Until Natalie pulled me into another dressing room to try on more clothes.

Henry's POV:

Isabelle's birthday was coming up soon and I wanted to get something extra special for her. Now that most of the drama in our lives is gone I feel that I don't have to worry about it anymore. And knowing that she told me about all what she has been through in her life, and all I have been through in mine, has already made me realize that she trusted me enough to tell me and I trusted her in return, makes me want to make the occasion even more special for her.

She wanted me to go to the mall with her and Natalie but if I tried to get her a gift with her there with me it would be too obvious. I didn't want to lie to her but I had to find her a gift without her with me, I also knew that going to the same mall she was going to on the same day would be kinda reckless too but if I went without her she would suspect something and I wanted her to be surprised when I gave her my gift.

I managed to evade Isabelle most of the day without her noticing me, while managing to get her what I thought would be the perfect birthday gift for her.

I was able to get back to camp before the girls did while I wrapped and hid her gift until her party tomorrow night. I just hope she likes what I got her.

The next night: The Party

Isabelle's POV:

My birthday was finally here! I am now officially 17 years old! The day has been better than perfect so far and Natalie hasn't mentioned anything about my so called 'party', so maybe she just dropped it like I asked but knowing her she just has something else planned.

Just then Henry texted me to meet him by the lake in an hour and to dress nice.

Whatever that means but instead of putting to much thought into it I got ready.

I then took a quick shower and dried and curled my hair by myself(using Natalie's curler, it was a miracle that I didn't burn myself in the process, maybe watching Natalie do it helped me not scar myself).

I picked out my outfit which was a white blouse (with a tank top underneath) and a floral skirt with a brown belt- I usually never wear skirts but since Henry asked me to dress nice I borrowed one of Natalie's that she bought me.

I finally finished with a little bit of mascara,eyeliner, and lip gloss and made my way towards the lake.

As I neared the lake I noticed illuminating lights covering the trees and bushes surrounding the area. And tables of food and finally a cake that read "Happy Birthday Isabelle!". All of my friends were there singing happy birthday as I blew out my candles.

Just as everyone received a piece of cake and then dispersed to either dance or go swimming in the lake I felt someone intertwine their fingers with mine. Henry was there smiling at me as he whispered in my ear "happy birthday, beautiful."

I turned to fully face him, "thanks I really appreciate all of this but you know you didn't have to do any of it."

Before Henry could reply Natalie came skipping towards us.

"Now Henry before you go taking all the credit for the party that I threw for my best friend, let me remind you that I can always kick you out." She joked.

Henry just stood there with a smirk on his face. "Of course, Natalie whatever you say."

"Good! Now Iz I wanted to go ahead and give you your present now." She requested.

Natalie then handed me a charm bracelet that was hand made and read 'best friends, always.'

"Natalie, this is wonderful thank you so much."

"Yeah, I know it's not that fancy but remember I did buy you all those clothes at the mall!" She gestured to my outfit.

"Of course and I really do like them thank you!"

And with that she went off to go dancing amongst the other campers.

"Well Natalie certainly does know how to throw a party." I said plainly.

"Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the circus were to come." Henry joked.

"Hey, I meant to give this to you earlier but now seems like a good time."

Henry then handed me a small silver box wrapped in a light gold ribbon. I then delicately untied the ribbon and opened the box to find a silver heart-shaped locket with a picture of the two of us and an engraving on the back that read 'happy birthday, Isabelle'.

I was completely awestruck by my gift.

"I know it's not as good as Natalie's gift and it might seem a little corny for me to get it but I thought it was the best to choose at the time and..."

I didn't let him finish his sentence before I enveloped him in a big hug.

"Are you kidding? This is the most perfect gift ever, you really shouldn't have gotten me something so nice!"

He pulled me back to give me a kiss on my forehead.

"I wanted to get it for you, you deserve the most beautiful things in the world, just like you...and...if you don't want it I can always take it back." He teased.

I was still smiling at him with a goofy grin on my face, probably looking like a kid on Christmas morning. How I could deserve someone as great as Henry? I would probably never know, but one thing for sure is that I am going to hold onto him for as long as I can.

Just as I was about to daydream some more- which I know sounds really girly right now- Henry pulled me out where everyone was dancing and the 'dj' was shuffling through songs on pandora radio.

He grabbed my hands and we started dancing like we didn't have a care in the world. And let me tell you one thing is that I am defiantly not a dancing sort of person. But right then I didn't care because being with Henry made everything else seemed less important. Like we were the only people in the world.

Just as everything seemed like it couldn't get any more magical or perfect, disaster struck.

A voice cut through my mind like a spear, "Mind if I cut in Henry?"

Both me and Henry stopped dancing and turned to see Logan standing next to us looking calm with a devilish grin on his face.

We soon got a few other people's attention around us but seemed to think it was nothing.

"Well don't stop the party on my account I just came to wish the birthday girl happy birthday." Logan said with a smirk on his face.

Well this night just went to perfect to awkwardly skull crushing horrible in a matter of seconds. I can't wait to see how perfect this is going to turn out.
So much for a disaster free night...

Ta-da there is another chapter posted! I really am super super sorry to all my readers out there for taking so long to update than usual!

But I hope everyone enjoyed this new chapter! There are a few things I want to discuss first though....

2.) I wanted to know for the next couple of chapters of the story, since Logan is back kinda would you guys rather- him join the same camp as Isabelle and Henry

- OR for Isabelle to finally get excepted into the sports camp that she wanted to be in the beginning of the story but has to deal with Logan and other stuff.

( sorry don't want to give away to many details)

Anyways! Let me know what you want to happen next I will not be able to do both situations unless you guys really want that to happen but I would prefer if you chose between the 2 options!
