2016 Prompt: Open Book (CLOSED)
We're all scared of being judged, at least a little bit.
Summer, for those of us still in school, is that time of the year where we can finally stop worrying about who we were at school, and actually begin to be who we really are! It's those two months where we are more ourselves than ever, and only those who are around us the most can start to see our true colors.
On the other hand, you may find it hard to be yourself at home with your family, but easy to be who you are with friends or in front of others you may not know.
But whatever your social life may be like, could you imagine what would happen if everyone could know who you were, what you thought, and -- probably most terrifyingly -- what you thought about them? What if there were no borders on your mind? Every thought that you had would be revealed to the crowd of people around you, and there was nothing you could do about it?
Whether you choose to force everyone to reveal their inner demons, or become an isolated figure, write a story that would be the result of that predisposed complication!
Some questions to consider:
1. What feelings are invoked in the main character by having this problem?
2. How are others' affected by this problem?
3. Does this problem lead to unity, destruction, or some other sort of issue or solution?
~GUIDELINES~
Now here is where things get even better!
Your story does not have to be general fiction!
While you may write it as lengthy work (with paragraphs, punctuation, and all that fun stuff ;D), you may also write it as a poem, a series of haikus, a letter. . .whatever creative thing you can think of! As long as it follows the guidelines below!
You may. . .
Write in multiple parts/have multiple chapters.
Have author's notes in your story (will not be added into your final word count).
Write about sensitive topics (as long as you do not use it attack/bully individuals or groups. In other words, be nice to your fellow Wattpadians and fellow humans ;D).
Be symbolic and abstract, as long as there is some sort of plot line.
Write in any genre as long as you remain on topic.
You may NOT. . .
Bully or attack other people (in real life).
Write in a language other than English (I'm sorry, I'm not Google translate).
Have someone else write the story other than you (if I find that someone else wrote it, it will be disqualified and any removable rewards will be revoked).
Steal someone else's story (same scenario as above, also, my shadow will haunt you in your sleep if you do, hehe).
Grammar and Writing Rules!
1. You may write no less than 150 words.
2. You may write no more than 5,000 words.
3. Plot must be sensible and clear enough to understand (even for poems).
4. Please use paragraphs as properly as possible (if writing a lengthy work. Please don't make a 3,000-word wall of text, it is very difficult to read. Author's notes do not have to follow this rule).
5. Please do not use text speech outside of appropriate settings ("'Hihi gurl I less than three [<3] u' he said as he walked up to me in the hall" is not the proper way to use text talk in a story. Author's notes also do not have to follow this rule).
