ZANNA MITCHELL WASN'T GOING TO MAKE IT. It sounded harsh and unpleasant and sad when brought to one's ears but it only sounded like that when the woman in question was a fifth-year attorney kicking ass in and out of the courtroom, raining down fire wherever she went. But unfortunately, everyone was all for a strong woman until an actually strong woman came along, and that strong woman was Zanna, whether they liked it or not.

     With great power came great responsibility, and Zanna wanted to roll her eyes at the statement, to spit on it because it meant so little—she knew what it meant, she just wasn't sure if others knew, given the state of the nation. She could understand the sentiment, but it was unfortunately and unironically, the mantra that hung over her head as she entered and left the firm, pounded into her ears day and night as she fought case after case.

     Great responsibility, my ass, she thought, tell that to the superheroes. About a week after the battle that wreaked havoc on New York, Zanna and several other lawyers were met with several lawsuits from the city wanting restitution for the damage done to their property by a team now known as the Avengers (which was a minor thing compared to what was to come).

    Zanna had a clue as to who they were, if the shield that smashed in her office window was anything to go by—Captain America, the star-spangled man with a dazzling plan. And she was going to bring him forth before the law, or she was going to die trying (or get herself into a scandalous entanglement in the midst of it. Whichever came first, really.)

    Zanna Mitchell wasn't going to make it.
