"Oh and you did?" Harry's voice raises a notch and it fuels me even more, making me turn my body so I'm facing him properly.
"No, Harry. It was a win-win situation, remember? We both wanted to try new things, blah blah blah!"
"It's not blahs, you just said it was both of us!"
I huff. "Are you serious? Did you try your 'new things'? Your new girlfriend is quite exciting, isn't she? Cynthia, was it?"
Harry pauses for a second. "Cynthia isn't my girlfriend, she's just one of many."
My heart sinks and I feel my face getting warm, so I pay attention to keeping my voice steady without cracking and making a fool of myself. "She's a new thing with that blue hair, huh?"
"Oh yes, believe me, she's way better than your own little new buddy. What kind of name is Vincent, anyway? I thought you were way better than hanging around with a bunch of geeks," Harry nods as if agreeing with himself, but I'm still fuming. I sock his shoulder forcefully.
"And I thought you were so much better than sleeping with random girls every weekend! You're an asshole, that's what you are! And Vincent isn't even my boyfriend, he's a very dear friend of mine and he's better than you ever was in so many ways!"
His jaw clenches. "So many ways? Like what, Clarity? Do enlighten me!"
Seeing he was getting angrier likewise, I smirked to add to the fire. "Yeah, Harry. He's sweet and considerate and lovely. He cares about me while he's only a friend. You were a boyfriend and you didn't care as much as he does!"
"Oh, please! Save all that crap to yourself and your iconic BFF," he mocks. "I was a great boyfriend; I never left you behind and never let you go to sleep when you were upset. I was cool and fairly openminded with you and I was protective over you!"
I swallow, licking my lips for another showdown but he's right. Harry's always been there for me, I can never deny that. "But- But you bailed on me when college started, Harry! You said we were forever, but then we were the exact opposite in a flash!"
"That's because I wanted to know!" Harry yells and I recoil from the sudden comeback.
"What did you want to know?" I ask hurriedly, confused.
Harry's breathing is wild and ragged and I know I should stay silent. When he looks up at me with a deep frown, it was obvious I wasn't going to like what's to come. "I wanted to know if..."
"If what, Harry?" I nearly begged.
"If we were really forever."
