4. It's Like You Don't Have An Off Switch

Well, hopefully it was Rihanna anyway.

Worst case scenario, it could have been a look alike of Rihanna, but not actually Rihanna herself.

Now, Ashanti?

Ashanti loved Rihanna, and it wasn't even funny.

She had always wanted to meet her in person, but she couldn't, maybe because Rihanna was a celebrity, and Ashanti was way far away from being one.

But now was finally her chance to meet her... unless things were too good to be true, but hopefully not. That would have really sucked.

As Kehlani didn't believe her, he had used the binoculars himself to check to see if that was Rihanna or not, and it was.

When he had realised this, he had freaked out internally to himself, before wondering what the heck an awesome and famous celebrity like her was doing in a death wish of a neighbourhood like this one.

OK then, so were none of y'all gonna check where the binoculars were actually from?

They could have literally been from anywhere.

The sewers, the garbage disposal, heck even on the streets itself. The possibilities were endless. This neighbourhood was messed up, man, and it didn't take a genius to realise that.

It was just common sense, really.

It could have been from the streets or anything, but none of them had seemed to realise this.

"What's someone like Rihanna doing out here anyway? This place is messed up," Kehlani wanted to know after a while, specifically when he had helped Ashanti get across the fence because she had struggled doing so herself.

Apparently, well according to Kishati anyway, her cousin's mother had passed away recently, and she had lived in the house where the party was being held, aka the place where Ashanti, Kehlani & Kishati were in right now.

Rihanna wanted to stay at her house to share her condolences with her, and help plan for the funeral and everything 'cause she was so dang rich. Her cousin's mum had died two months ago, and the funeral for her was only last week.

Rihanna's birthday was three days ago apparently, and now she was having a party to celebrate.

So Rihanna has been here for two whole months now and I didn't even realise this? Ashanti thought and realised for that matter to herself.

That's OK. I can meet her today... hopefully.

"You know how celebrities go on tours and all that?" Kishati continued, with both Kehlani and Ashanti nodding vigorously at her because they already knew that.

"Well, Rihanna oftentimes visits the neighbourhoods of her relatives. Y'all just got lucky that her cousin lives in this house, 'cause if not... then she might not even be here right now. Assuming that's her."

"I don't care what y'all say, I'm going to meet her today and none of y'all are changing my mind," Ashanti blurted out without thinking afterwards.

She was sitting on a box now, because for some reason there was a cardboard box with something unknown inside that people could have used to get across the fence.

When Kishati & Kehlani had heard that, they had just looked at Ashanti as if she was a completely deranged person, with Kehlani pretty much snapping her out of her senses.

"Snap out of it, Ashanti. Stop with this crazy talk, man, it's doing my head in. And you can't do that anyway. As in, visit Rihanna."

"And why's that?" She frowned, folding her arms at Kehlani, whilst simultaneously giving the dude an annoyed glare for getting her hopes up over absolutely nothing.

There was a VIP section at the top of the house, and Kehlani had realised this.

OK, yeah, so Ashanti had seen Rihanna and all, but she hadn't actually seen where Rihanna was. Only celebrities were allowed in the VIP section- aka Rihanna and her friends.

Even though both Kishati and Kehlani had expected the girl to get annoyed at not being able to meet Rihanna in person, when Ashanti had heard that there was a VIP section at the top of the house...

Well.

She was over the godforsaken moon.

She had got up from where she was sitting as a result of this, unexpectedly making her way into the house, telling both Kehlani and Kishati that she was going to visit the VIP room, whether they had liked it or not.

And they didn't.

They really didn't.

The two of them had tried to snap and talk her out of it, but Ashanti didn't really seem to be paying much attention to either of them.

No, the girl wasn't ignorant. Well, she could have been, but just not all the time.

Plus it was her ultimate dream to meet Rihanna in person, plus she knew that saying in the Bible.

James 2:26- Faith without works is dead.

"Ashanti, what's with you and having bad ideas today?" Kehlani fumed, following her into the house. "You're gonna get yourself killed out there- do you really want that for yourself? It's like you don't have an off switch."

"I don't care, Kehlani. You know how much I've wanted to meet Rihanna, and nothing is going to get in my way."

It was way too easy for them to get to the VIP section though, and it was almost too good to be true.

But then again, all three of them were good at highly discreetly from things, so it wasn't really a problem getting there.

"Is she always this reckless and troublesome?" Kishati wanted to know. "I don't always bond well with people like that, no offence."

"You'll get used to it... and, yeah, she can be like that sometimes. But just not all of the time. If that was the case then I would have left her a long time again but I didn't."

They were now literally right in front of the VIP section now, after about twenty or so seconds, which was just basically a red curtain with a red roped barrier & a sign saying:

Welcome to the VIP section
VIP members only please.

No exceptions!

"Can't believe it guys, I'm finally going to meet Rihanna. Hey, maybe I can ask for her autograph or something. That would honestly be so cool."

Despite Ashanti's wish and plan to finally meet Rihanna in person, her plans were completely derailed when Kishati had pointed out to the girl that there was a CCTV camera located right at the top of them.

Unsurprisingly, Ashanti, Kehlani & Kishati weren't the only people who had tried to enter the VIP section today, although Ashanti had watched enough spy movies and documentaries to know how to deactivate the dang thing.

She had told Kehlani to give her a leg up, which he had refused to do so at first, although he didn't really have much of a choice about this because Ashanti had suddenly & painfully gotten on his hands anyway, without the dude's consent.

Security guards were patrolling the area, checking to see that no one that wasn't a VIP hadn't entered the VIP section.

All three of them had sneaked past them now, and it had literally taken Ashanti twenty seconds to deactivate the CCTV camera but she had done so eventually.

"Dang, Ashanti. You're so much heavier now. What's going on with you?"

"I gained weight perhaps?" She laughed. "But anyway, guys! I'm finally meeting Rihanna."

Even though Ashanti was happy about this, her smile had soon turned into a frown when she had caught Kishati & Kehlani glancing at each other almost simultaneously, but they didn't look very happy either.

"This isn't a good idea, Ashanti," Kishati confessed candidly. "I don't even know why we're up here. We tried warning you about this, but you don't listen."

Kehlani had told the girl that he had completely & totally agreed with what the hell Kishati had just said, before adding that he couldn't have agreed more as well.

For some reason, this had made Ashanti even more annoyed than before, causing her to lash out at both of them.

"But you know how much I've wanted to meet Rihanna, Kehlani. And we're already here now, so there's no point going back. You know, I don't need a bunch of Debbie downers just trying to bring me down...."

"We're not trying to bring you down, we just don't want anything bad to happen to you!" Kishati interrupted, but Ashanti was fuming now.

"She's right. This is ridiculous. We're leaving."

"You know what your problem is, Kehlani?" Ashanti ranted at him. They were ranting at each other but luckily not loudly enough for them to be heard by anyone as the VIP section roll behind the curtain was low-key soundproof. "You're jealous."

Kehlani had stopped to stare at her, becoming even more and more annoyed over what she had said to him.

"Admit it, Kehlani. Anytime something good happens to me, you always get annoyed & try to ruin it for me. Like when I got 20% higher than you in the maths test at school, you got envious. Is that what this is all about?"

Kehlani didn't say anything, he had just given her the dirtiest look of all time, Kishati watching both of them in the background.

This didn't involve her, so she didn't want to get involved.

Kehlani had just ended up annoyingly folding his arms at her, but he didn't reply to her at all.

This had therefore made Ashanti come to the conclusion that yes, Kehlani was jealous of her whenever something good had happened to her, causing her to rant about this even more & to a more extreme level than before.

"See? You're speechless. You are jealous."

"OK, so maybe I was," Kehlani began, absolutely furious at her. This wasn't the first time they had argued with each other today and this probably wasn't going to be the last time either.

"But I'm not anymore. You know what? Screw you, because you're not even worth it anymore. If all of this is about popularity, then stop because popularity isn't even important anymore. And it never was. I'm done with you, so find someone else that can put up with your crap Ashanti, because I'm done. If you get in trouble, don't say we didn't warn you, 'cause we ain't helping you anymore. Now come on Kishati, let's go. I believe I saw a foosball table on the way here and I'd like to try it out."

Saying that, Kehlani had walked out of the scene with Kishati, both him & Ashanti giving each other dirty looks at exactly the same time again before they had gone for good.

"Fine!" Ashanti called. "I don't need y'all anyway! I've got this all under control."

But the truth was.

The girl was lost without Kehlani.

Though she just didn't want to admit that to him as she felt as though it had made her seem like the weaker person.
